  • A fabulous look back at iconic London fashion history. Presented by Puritan Fashions Corporation, The London Look transports us back in time and features iconic designers Mary Quant and Foale and Tuffin. All with great footage of 1960s London woven throughout as we follow fashion models around London and some of its most iconic locations and shops including: Picadilly Cirucus, Paxton and Whitfield, great vintage motorcars, street shots, HIS Clothes, Bazaar, Lock & Co., Habitat, building demolition, horse drawn carriage, Topgear, Countdown.
There is even a visit to the airport and fantastic footage of a British European Airlines (BEA) Hawker Siddeley Trident 1C both inside the cockpit and walking around the aircraft on the apron. It is then off to the flagship Vidal Sassoon on Bond Street for hairstyling. Afternoon drinks at a Watney Combe Reid pub before moving on to more shopping at Foale and Tuffin, using a telephone booth as a changing room, a visit to a walled garden with models as statues and cruise down the Thames in an amphibious car that drives right out of the water (license plate BYF 5B) and back onto the streets of London. The models even climb to an observation terrace atop the Duke of York’s column. We are then off to the greyhound races and back for more shopping and lunch before heading to the Ad-Lib club for some music and 60’s-style dancing.

@Ken Butz - thanks so much for putting this online. My Dad - John Burrows shot it as his 2nd film in the 1960's, & then went on to direct several thousand commercials over he next 30+ years, including the iconic Martini, Andrex, Flake, Guinness campaigns & many more. As he was succumbing to prostrate cancer I found it & we watched it together.

I was wondering whether that was Patti Boyd or not. Now I know it was her sister.

When women's fashion was art and not like it is today, purely an industry

Very true. I look at what’s in stores nowadays and see that every fashion piece targeted towards women are all apart of trends that die as quick as they’re birthed. it’s sad. I saw a big beautiful circle belt the other day, it was labelled as ‘y2k’ and I thought how strange it was considering they were pretty big in the 60s and 70s… it is purely an industry and women deserve art like this.

Does anyone know who the band are. Sounds like Keith Emmerson and Carl Palmer are in there.

I wonder what they look like now? Suburban grannies wearing K-mart or Target frocks.

I'm not sure if that was really filmed by using a red filter; I'd rather assume it has something to do with the aging of the film material being used.
