Hello Eric, as an old man who has already had a few parties in der Kuhle, I can recommend the following place. Just before the entrance to the inner field there is a small hill. From there you can already feel the sound and you have a good overview of the inner field. Have fun next year in Wacken and wish for rain rather than dryness. You can find the dust in places where you didn't even know that air would get there.
About the number of people working to make that festival happen, it tells you a bit about a habit shared by quite a few Germans: No half measures. If something is worth being done it is also worth being done PROPERLY. Also if you go there next year maybe have a chat with the guys and gals working security there if it isn't too busy. That job is woefully underrated for what they do and as someone who has worked in security for years I can tell you this much: Being given a feeling of genuine appreciation in that job is rare and accordingly highly cherished when it does happen. That way you can bring them a bit of enjoyment - basically letting them in on the overall enjoyment of the festival. Because most of the times being security at an event means you don't get to enjoy it yourself due to work requirements.
Went to Wacken almost every year since 2013 and every time it's such a mindblowing experience. I cannot wait for next year to finally set foot on the holy ground again
The company I work for have been supplying Wacken for years. And you can always tell which colleagues worked the festival each year because their cars are usually totally covered in mud.

Hell Yeah!!! Been to Wacken almost every year since 2003. It's not just about Metal ... it's about love, peace, friends, fun and to clean your head from the disturbing time you get sometimes in life. It's like a reset or resurrection of your soul. Hope to meet you there next year! I'ld really like to drink a beer with you! Cheers! [P.S.: tickets in 2003 was 50€ for 3 days incl. camping].
I grew up right on the border to Hamburg, Wacken is 30miles along the Autobahn from me. With the wind in the right direction, even we heard it once! Great video and very interesting interview. There is a documentary done by the NDR, which is quite interesting. Hope that you can experience the real thing next year!

Yeah, it was cool to go there.... No, it is not a US thing but mostly a youtube thing. It was learned very early on that yt began putting restrictions on videos talking about the pandemic. Their algorithm just searched for words, so if someone would mention the virus by name in a video it was immediately flagged. Nothing that the viewer sees. I had one video talking about it and we removed it. Then withing a couple videos i mentioned the "zombie apocalypse " when referring to it. But there are millions of people on yt talking about it and i want try best to create content that is more interesting.
@@KrautsalatAnAmericaninGermany Usually, UA-cam puts an info banner below the videos it detects as related to "human malware", recommending to search for information at some official sources like the WHO or the BzgA (here in Germany). I find this quite useless, since using the word once or twice alone doesn't make it an information video about the pandemic and since even the WHO makes a lot of doubtful descisions these days (and most other official sources just copy from them), I would not recommend them as the only source of information anyway.
The *US thing* IMHO is *not to talk about politics* if you can avoid it, since you will either categorized as left-wing or right-wing and losing the opposite side of your audience. And many Americans seem to forget that there are indeed political positions that are neither left nor right. So stupid, really.
