  • A Columbus Day project...a k'nex, solar-powered "wind-mill." Chris built it by himself. First part of the video was recorded last sunday; the rest monday morning (Columbus Day).

    I am intrigued by how much weight you are able to support on your pivot rod. Add pitch to those blades and plastic wrap your blades and you won't need a solar panel.

      Hey, sorry for the slow reply. Just getting back to this channel. You are right about converting this to straight wind power. It wouldn't take much to make it a full on generator. And, the K'nex sets are pretty incredible in what they can accomplish. A 3-D tower matrix can easily hold up a 200+ lb guy. I built several, and was able to step from one to the other, with each occasionally holding my entire weight. It's impressive stuff. We've also experimented with solar powered model houses. I don't remember the brand, but, we spent a ton of time with one that was experiments with insulation, lighting and various other "green" concepts. I enjoy this stuff. I"m hoping my kids inherit some of that interest! All the best!

      @@4dhl alots happened in a years time. I solved a critical weight issue and built one of my own. I'll post a link, but UA-cam sometimes bawks at that. The other alternative is to search out my channel. Cheers.
