lol, I got a 4080 for 1080p precisely because I wanted to run RT natively and avoid upscalers. May as well go 1440p if DLSS Quality/Balanced is going to be a must for every game with RT. Did not expect a rushed port from Nixxes. Very disappointing.

This was the EASIEST refund I’ve had to make. Downloaded day 1 driver from NVIDIA, loaded up SM2 and crashed 7x(RTX 4090 and 7800x3d). Ok cool. Changed settings, turned framegen off(that seemed to fix crashing) and then changed RT settings. Another crash(your GPU does not have enough VRAM)!!! Lmao. 24GB is not enough for High settings and High RT. Ok cool. Turned off ALL RT, game crashed. Proceeded to request refund.
The game was "fine" on PS5, it had some glitches that were funny but other than that it was released in a relatively good technical state. The story issues are subjective, most people were ok with the story but I do see where people come from when they criticize it.
If Sony wants to make money off of these ports, they need to get it right. There are a lot of people that PC game that don't even know how to tweak settings. It is playable so there is that.
It’s playable, but just barely, so. many. issues. Granted a lot of problems are fixed with an ssd, but not a lot of gamers have any idea what that is and how to optimize the game

Some people get luckier than others I know when I played The last Star wars game (not outlaws the one before it) I had zero issues and people were having all kinds of issues. I had minor stutters once in a great while but nothing like what was going around and that game was in bad shape for most people. Just because one person has issues doesn't mean you will unless the game is super buggy like Stalker 2 was. I haven't played it ,it isn't my type of game as I don't play super hero games.
You shouldn't need high end hardware to have a stable experience with low amounts of crashes and bugs, especially when the game targets consoles which are far from high end hardware.
Regarding the Steam Deck's performance; it seems to be less of an issue with the Steam Deck and just how the game runs on Linux in general. I downloaded the game on Linux first and the performance was literally unplayable. I'm talking 10fps on average at a resolution of 800x600 with Ultra Performance DLSS and Very Low settings preset, btw... I had to boot into Windows and download the game on there, which after some tinkering with the settings, I average around 100fps at 1440p, as that's what my hardware can handle. For reference, I have an RTX 3070, Ryzen 7 7800X3D and 64GB of DDR5 6000Mhz ram.
The issue on your end has to do with Nvidia drivers and optimization with VKD3D-Proton. It's a little bit different with AMD based hardware due to the open source drivers adding features to directly help VKD3D.
You must be the lucky one. Because I'm seeing reports from people with RTX 4090's and a strong CPU's saying they are encountering issues as they play the game longer. Good luck.

And there is this constant issue where when I web up enemies to surfaced, the webbing causes a large shadow to form to the point that it looks like there is tar underneath the enemies. Not too bad, overall. But I think I am going to need to play with the shadow setting to fix the second issue.

Only problem I had so far is that the game crashed two time saying I need to update my 4080 super with the new update then 2 hours later it crashed again with the update so I reported to the team. Hopefully they fix the crashes soon

About RT in this game, Just turn up the geometry quality, rt reflections, and rt interiors to max. This game was built with RT reflections in mind and the other RT effects really don't add much at all. Maybe RTAO will make the game looks a little better but, its really not not need. Geometry quality to very high completely transforms RT reflections and makes the world in RT reflections much closer to the game world. RT reflections setting controls the RT reflection resolution, very high is native res while high is half res. No clue what RT interiors very high does but, a guess would be higher quality rooms in buildings.

Every port that Sony has released so far has been rushed to a certain extent, although the quality of Nixxes ports have generally been better than most other ports (Sony ports aren't great, other ports are just terrible). This game is the result of Nixxes constantly working on multiple projects without the appropriate amount of time between them.
Both Spiderman games have been running Extraordinarily well. I have put Everything on the lowest and did my best to Maximize performance for the game, FPS wise it goes perfectly fine but.. memory wise.. not so much. I got 16GB Ram but man.. I have no clue what else to do except maybe wait for an update on the game or maybe upgrading my pc!

My hope is that this eventually leads Sony to have their own launcher/app/store/ecosystem available on their own hardware ofc but also on PC, mobile, cloud/TVs, etc. to encourage more quality and finished releases. Then release 1st party games day-and-date EXCLUSIVELY across said platforms via their own launcher, resulting in not releasing on competing stores like Steam and Epic, etc. anymore; save for select LS/GAAS meant to get as many players as possible. Ofc also provide cross/cloud buy/entitlement, saves, progression, play, etc. And for a limited time, grandfather in anyone who bought their games on Steam/epic and other places by allowing them free entitlement to said game(s) on the PS store, should they choose to make a PS account. And if you choose to subscribe to premium maybe you get even more bonuses and incentives.
After comparing with the new XESS patch it fixes the frame drop issue where it lost a small amount of performance. It looks far better than fsr in every way even when not using a intel gpu.
Just tested real quick using 9800X3D+4070ti Super, 1440p, no upscaling, Ultra RT maxed out settings using the new transformer model for ray reconstruction. Have not updated to new nvidia drivers yet. Got 64 FPS avg during the same opening sequence with very minor stutters between the scene cuts. Dipped as low as 58. Dling drivers now. Will likely have to tweak settings a bit but not as bad as what I'm seeing with your video.

You need to recheck your testing methodology friend: - you could for example test the cpu with the ray tracing cause it's more intensive for it - you could test it to in more crowded areas not this empty post apocalyptic place
I wonder how the stuttering will affect PCs running Linux given that shaders are pre compiled before playing the game. I know not everyone is using Linux, but since the Steam Decks success its getting a bit more difficult to ignore its existence (I know Alex tried it on the Deck, but I'm talking PCs, not the Deck).

Really don't think you're seeing shader compilation stutter during those traversal sections, haven't seen this in other reviews (pretty much all Nvidia). There is definitely done hitching and a drop for a bit, game does need some work. Too bad the games writing for everything other than Miles sucked so hard, it's not worth playing any more on PC than it was on PS5.
i blame insomniac for the port being bad. it was just as bad on ps5 at launch. yes i have played it and had a few stutters here and there and sometimes the game would freeze on me SOURCE: I OWN IT ON PS5
Thankfully, Nixxes is a Western developer, so at least there's hope for post-launch updates & fixes. When Japanese studios port a single player game to PC, good luck getting any fixes later down the line. They'll update multiplayer games that can make them more money, but games like FF7 Rebirth won't be fixed.
From what I can see from steam reviews, most complaints are from Nvidia users which makes sense I guess considering Sony uses AMD apu's.... But then again, the vast majority of steam users use Nvidia so it could just be a sample size thing
I will use DLSS4 anyway when using RT on my 4080 Super. I do that wether I need to or not. I just whack it on because i don't mind normal DLSs let alone the new DLSS4 that looks great to me even on performance on dragons dogma 2 it looks crazy good. But I play on quality anyway.
Its funny how CDPR are allowed to release games in an absolute mess at launch but nobody else is allowed to release domething with a few hitches. From The Witcher 1, which got a Fixed/Enhanced edition, to Cyberpunk 2077, it was the exact same terrible releases every single time. The Witcher 4 will stop 90% of hard crashes 12 months after its out, on every version just like TW3 lol. Again, none of you will ever admit to this.

I can't speak on amd but if you have a Nvidia card there is a new Driver update that fixed the game im not having any issues after the driver update

The last fight memory usage is maxing out nearly 15,500mb of the Ram hence the random fps and crashes at 1080 p crazy stuff !

This game is the result of Nixxes constantly working on multiple projects without the appropriate amount of time between them.

Both Spiderman games have been running Extraordinarily well. I have put Everything on the lowest and did my best to Maximize performance for the game, FPS wise it goes perfectly fine but.. memory wise.. not so much. I got 16GB Ram but man.. I have no clue what else to do except maybe wait for an update on the game or maybe upgrading my pc!
It'a a great game with some issues ...patch it and It's ol good, I'am running it on high with 2560/1440 and It's runs super smooth ...only sometimes It does crash ...and it happens way to often saddly ...but It's hardly what i would call a shit show...seen way worse day 1 ports
Update: Ok ..seems my solution for now is to just play on lowest...not ideal but gotta accept it for now if i wanna play this...looks like some effect in game is cousing the game's engine to die and atm i have no idea what that Is.

Game runs on the Rog Ally z1 extreme 1080 on low with fsr 3.1 on. Can hit 40 fps and more
My hope is that this eventually leads Sony to have their own launcher/app/store/ecosystem available on their own hardware ofc but also on PC, mobile, cloud/TVs, etc. to encourage more quality and finished releases.
Then release 1st party games day-and-date EXCLUSIVELY across said platforms via their own launcher, resulting in not releasing on competing stores like Steam and Epic, etc. anymore; save for select LS/GAAS meant to get as many players as possible.
Ofc also provide cross/cloud buy/entitlement, saves, progression, play, etc. And for a limited time, grandfather in anyone who bought their games on Steam/epic and other places by allowing them free entitlement to said game(s) on the PS store, should they choose to make a PS account. And if you choose to subscribe to premium maybe you get even more bonuses and incentives.
After comparing with the new XESS patch it fixes the frame drop issue where it lost a small amount of performance. It looks far better than fsr in every way even when not using a intel gpu.
Just tested real quick using 9800X3D+4070ti Super, 1440p, no upscaling, Ultra RT maxed out settings using the new transformer model for ray reconstruction. Have not updated to new nvidia drivers yet. Got 64 FPS avg during the same opening sequence with very minor stutters between the scene cuts. Dipped as low as 58. Dling drivers now. Will likely have to tweak settings a bit but not as bad as what I'm seeing with your video.

This is the norm , for developers , that why I wait till everything is updated n patched up , sad though , this will never change , and these Devs wants our money for halve baked games.🎮😑😮💨
man Sony have really been dropping the ball on Pc after a promising first few titles from God of War and the original Spiderman. then the PSN requirement. theyre speed running their reputation

You need to recheck your testing methodology friend:
- you could for example test the cpu with the ray tracing cause it's more intensive for it
- you could test it to in more crowded areas not this empty post apocalyptic place
no models are visible some nps just flying heads and piderman itself are invisible...

Actually running pretty well on my 4080 5950x. I wonder if it’s because of all the extra cores in the 5950x.
I cant even get the game to boot up long enough to switch to the lowest settings.
I wonder how the stuttering will affect PCs running Linux given that shaders are pre compiled before playing the game. I know not everyone is using Linux, but since the Steam Decks success its getting a bit more difficult to ignore its existence (I know Alex tried it on the Deck, but I'm talking PCs, not the Deck).

I paid £70 for that on ps5 and deleted it after 4 hours, its a woke mess
my Game works fine in normal missions until Once I got into Symbiote things It just unplayable my lag like hell when there something related to venom.

Runs ~90fps maxed out with High RT 4k FSR 3.1 Quality on a 7900 XTX. That's without frame gen 😊

This pc port is a shame for Sony considering that a pirate team did a better job... even if the pirate version only works with older versions of DirectX.
The fps are all over the place in this. I'm going to wait for a patch or two before jumping back in.
I honestly believe Sony release these pc ports in a bad state to make their consoles seem more appealing.
Nixxes have a good record with pc ports its got issues on day 1 but they will fix it im sure.

Really don't think you're seeing shader compilation stutter during those traversal sections, haven't seen this in other reviews (pretty much all Nvidia). There is definitely done hitching and a drop for a bit, game does need some work. Too bad the games writing for everything other than Miles sucked so hard, it's not worth playing any more on PC than it was on PS5.

i blame insomniac for the port being bad. it was just as bad on ps5 at launch.
yes i have played it and had a few stutters here and there and sometimes the game would freeze on me

Thankfully, Nixxes is a Western developer, so at least there's hope for post-launch updates & fixes.
When Japanese studios port a single player game to PC, good luck getting any fixes later down the line. They'll update multiplayer games that can make them more money, but games like FF7 Rebirth won't be fixed.
My general impression is that its good but undercooked

From what I can see from steam reviews, most complaints are from Nvidia users which makes sense I guess considering Sony uses AMD apu's.... But then again, the vast majority of steam users use Nvidia so it could just be a sample size thing
I will use DLSS4 anyway when using RT on my 4080 Super. I do that wether I need to or not. I just whack it on because i don't mind normal DLSs let alone the new DLSS4 that looks great to me even on performance on dragons dogma 2 it looks crazy good. But I play on quality anyway.
Most ports haven't been perfect well Ghost Toshima was good

Its funny how CDPR are allowed to release games in an absolute mess at launch but nobody else is allowed to release domething with a few hitches.
From The Witcher 1, which got a Fixed/Enhanced edition, to Cyberpunk 2077, it was the exact same terrible releases every single time.
The Witcher 4 will stop 90% of hard crashes 12 months after its out, on every version just like TW3 lol. Again, none of you will ever admit to this.
