Gravely parking brake issue *resolved*

Walkthrough on how I solved my parking brake and “mower creep” issues on my Gravely ZTHD-52
Very few tools needed. I think I ended up needing a few 1/2 inch wrenches and an impact to pull the wheels off. Pulling the back tires off is the easiest way to attempt this. Leave it on jack stands during the process.
Please be safe as this mower is over 800 pounds. Use caution when attempting any work on this unit or any other unit!

Thank you for doing this video. I created a problem similar to this when I had to pull the transmission out and re- install it. the two places that I could have potentially screwed up is, 1. There is an arm that goes on a splined shaft and I failed to index it before I removed it. 2. There is a bracket that operates the brake that has some slotted holes that I may need to revisit. Please note that mine is not the heavy duty version like yours. I'm just putting this out there in case someone else comes here for the same reason that I did. Thanks again.

Thanks for taking the time. Been having the same issue on my ZT HD. Great vid! Only thing I would have to respectfully disagree with you on is always strap down on a trailer. Bumps in the road can cause it to shift and God forbid you get into an accident, you don’t want that thing flying off.

Thanks so much for the insights. I have a 2018 ZT HD 60. The parking brake will not engage. It just started this foolishness today, at 147 hrs. I hope my warranty will cover this.

Get yours straightened out? My 2021 zt hd 60” is also not working on one side. Haven’t looked into it yet.

Thanks for the video. I'm just curious why you couldn't shut the engine off when you put it in your trailer. Wouldn't that stop it from creeping?

If it's creeping then you should be adjusting your drive arms

The day I bought mine, it had this issue. They fixed it and 2 years, 440 hours later its the only problem im having

My Gravely is dying when I take the parking brake off. Have you had that issue?

Have any ideas what would cause the mower to not engage from being in neutral? It just won’t move. Was mowing perfectly fine then just stopped and won’t go into drive now? Any ideas?

Mine doesn't creep but the handle for the brake unlatches while I'm going down the road. When the brake is pulled up I can barely touch it and it goes down. Adjusted the 2 cables and it still won't hold and I've racked my brain trying to figure out why it won't stay locked.

There's a video you can watch about that parking brake becoming disengaged. It's pretty easy to fix
