Canadians of the 1980s would recognize the "Today Is Moscow" theme as the theme from the CBC Radio show "As It Happens". Those who can read Russian will recognize that the words on the wall are the actual Russian for "Today Is Moscow".
My favourite reference of everything in Russia; it’s HUGE. What the Soviets and Russians lacked in sophistication and high tech of their Western competitors, they more than made up for with sheer size and vast numbers. The ‘mini cam’ is the best and most enduring example of this approach.

There's a video of Ronald Reagan telling Russian jokes at various events. Some are pretty funny. That is something you would never see today, for more reasons than just the overly PC climate.

People who long for the simplicities of Communism or the old empire are the humourless ones (and even Putin admitted the old regime had downsides). Communism was bad, the sketch didn't reflect much reality other than shoddy Soviet products, but some people enjoyed the time.
