Tony is easily the most underrated elite QB of his era - and frankly any era. He was an offensive machine. He was like the Allen Iverson of football. If he had a decent team he would have been a multiple SB winning QB.

A decent team?? 🤣🤣🤣 He played on loaded, talented teams most of his career... his 2006 team had 2 Pro Bowl O Lineman... HOF TE, a 1000 yrd RB, another RB who had 14 rushing TD's... Two 1000+ yrds recievers ..... the 2007 team had 11 Pro Bowl players, 3 Pro Bowl O Lineman, 3 HOF'ers on the team.... 2006 & 2007 from December on had a 4-7 combined record--- 0-2 Playoffs and some dreadful games including the 2007 game at home vs Eagles 13/36, 0 TD's & 3 INT's with a miserable 22 qb rating🤤😳 ----- 2009 team had 9 Pro Bowl players and once again Romo was horrible in the playoff loss to Minnesota---- By 2010 Romo was brittle and injury prone... 2 straight choke jobs in a winner take all, final game of the season game for the Division title--- the 2012 game vs Redskins for the NFC East 20/37 with 3 INT's and a 55.9 rating 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ ....2013 he couldn't make it to the final game .... 2014 the Cowboys had 7 Pro Bowl players on offense ALONE!!! 4 1st Team All Pro's on offense including Demarco Murray and his Cowboys all time single season 1845 yrds rushing... 2 HOF O Lineman, HOF TE and while Romo stats were good that game vs Packers Playoff game , he could only put 21 pts on a very average Packers Defense that game and 7 pts in the 2nd half.... and by 2015 Romo was so brittle he couldn't take a decent hit without breaking something...... but do go on about how he had no 'decent' teams 🤣🤣🤣🤣

All you have to know is that Bill Parcells thought highly of Romo and for good reason: Romo retired with the fourth-highest quarterback rating in NFL history, one-tenth of a point below Tom Brady.. His 248 touchdown passes rank 21st all time, just below Dan Fouts and Drew Bledsoe, the man he replaced in Dallas. He threw for more yards (34,183) than Steve Young or Troy Aikman did in their careers. The only thing that Romo didn't have were the teams of Fouts, Brady, Yong, and Aikman.

I got in a rather heated argument in the 2009 playoff game versus Minnesota (lost 34-3) - he was railing on Romo somewhat fierce, and I'm wondering how the hell anybody could be effective when he had less than two seconds to get the pass off.
The true microcosm, however, was that 51-48 loss to Peyton Manning's Broncos - Romo had him beat statistically, but he throws one interception (resulting from tripping over a lineman's foot) and he gets blamed for the loss.

Because he still played badly in that Minnesota game. He fumbled twice. The O-Line wasn't an issue all season and featured three Pro Bowlers but in this game, the offense completely sputtered and the defense, which was Top 5 in the league, got hit hard. I think too many Cowboy fans exhaust themselves in trying to defend Romo from criticism that they just can't admit he didn't play good.
The Broncos/Cowboys game is a microcosm of Romo's career. Great performance and throws a stupid pick that costs them the game. I don't care that he tripped over his lineman's foot and I don't care about his performance prior to that.......any top tier QB throws that pick at that point in the game is getting and should get blamed. Many lesser QBs have gotten crapped on for much less.

You completly crossed over the points you made in your own argument. Dallas was 18th in sacks allowed going up against a Vikings defense that lead the league in sacks who was also 6th in forced fumbles with the best edge rusher in football. That's a recipe for disaster.
Romo ran for his life all game long. He was sacked 6 times and pressured over 15 times.
We had the 7th rushing offense in football. Yes Romo fumbles on the first possession. But again against the best pass rushing line in football vs one of the worst lines in football. But because the defense laid an egg we couldn't utilize our 7th rushing offense because The Vikings scored a td on their first 2 drives. Forcing Dallas to give up on the run early in the game. Romo had to throw 35 times against the best defense in football behind the 18th ranked offensive line.
The next week the Vikings played the Saints who had the 4th ranked line in football. Guess how many sacks the Vikings had? 1 sack. Obviously the contrast was simple. One line was bad while the other line was elite.

But then I started noticing how he would make game SAVING drives, dropping dimes right into our receivers' hands. Beating opponents with his incredible touch on the ball. Also, very apparent to me was his demeanor on the field. After a TD he would come off the field grinning like a kid. He was having fun out there! He had some great WR talent to throw to as well. Rocket, Dez, Williams, and the ever present Jason Witten. We just never seemed to have the complete enough package of a team to take it all the way. And we still don't. It's been a long drought. The bad thing about Romo was that he sometimes would force things. He would try and get everything in one play and that almost always plays right into the hands of a defense. That's usually when he got his interceptions. Many in the media in Dallas seemed to hate him and would always make him the scapegoat, like they did with Danny White. Seattle Playoff game 2006 Romo was 17/29 for 189 yrds and a 89.6 rating and THE fumble on the fg kick to potentially win the game.... 2007, Romo was dreadful down the stretch in December, took a Mexican vacation the week b4 the Giants Divisional rd game and was awful vs the Giants... 18/36 the game losing INT and a sorry 64.7 rating... 2008 again in December Romo was dreadful and a winner take all finale vs the Eagles, Romo was horrid, along with the whole team... Romo stunk up the field vs the Vikings in the 2009 Division rd loss in Minnesota.... 2012 winner take all vs the Redskins, Romo was dreadful all game, yet late in the game, down 3, with a chance to tie the game or win it, along with the NFC East, he threw his 3rd and worst INT of the night---- game over, season over..... Yeah, Romo was definitely Mr October 🤣🤣🤣

If he would've had an elite defense in any of his starting years, he would've won it all.
The disrespect is real. When they played Denver and Manning in 2013 - 513 yes passing and 5 touchdowns. Cowboys lost 51-48. The first thing out of sports Media's mouth was how Romo couldn't get it done. Was he supposed to line up on defense, too?
You don't start 10 years in the league at the highest profile QB position without being good. Competitive.

2009 Defense was #2 scoring D in the leauge... 2007 D was solid and had 5 Pro Bowl Players ---- Romo had about 3 yrs where the D was middle of the pack and a few where they were not good..... 2006 Colts were #23 D in yrds allowed and 21st in scoring ---- 2009 Saints were #20 scoring D and 25th in yrds allowed..... 2011 Giants 25th scoring D & a dismal 27th in yrds allowed... 2021 Rams were #15th in scoring & 17th N yrds allowed ..... so not every Super Bowl team had great defenses.... and Tom Brady, the last decade in New England had 3 lil WHITE guys from 5ft 8 to 5ft 10 as his primary WR's --- won a Super Bowl in 2016 without Gronk and his last 6 yrs in New England he had zero Pro Bowl O Lineman---- there was no one making excuses for Peyton, Drew, Eli, Stafford or Brady....

I will say this about Romo in his prime, especially 2014 season. If he would have had the talent on defense that Prescott has had, especially during the 12-5 runs. Romo would have at least made it to the NFC Championship game during one of those seasons. Romo had a good offense around him but never really had a top defense. In 2016, Daks first playoff game, Romo should have started that game. Dak wasn't ready, mentally, for that game.

I know a lot of fans will argue this because he didn’t win the big one, but having grown up watching Aikman and having watched replays of a lot of Staubach’s games, Tony Romo is the best quarterback Dallas has ever had. He made the Cowboys competitive every year he played with players like Patrick Crayton, Miles Austin, and Sam Hurd, while running the ball with Julius Jones, Marion Barber, and Felix Jones. They didn’t even start using Demarco Murray appropriately until 2014, under-utilizing him for most of his career in Dallas.
All that coupled with Dallas’s subpar defenses and O-line play makes Tony’s value to the team and the NFL immeasurable, and seriously underrated.
He should be in the HOF, but he probably never will be.

Thanks for such a great video. I've always thought Romo was a far better qb than anyone gave him credit for. It never failed to thoroughly tick me off when people tried to blame him for that loss against Manning and the Broncos. It wasn't Romo who allowed Denver to score 44 of those 51 points. That would be on the defense. Never hear any of the Romo haters even acknowledge that little minor detail. He was a great quarterback, a damn good passer and he carried those Cowboy teams to the playoffs.
Not to mention the man was tough as nails. Don't know too many qbs who'd keep playing with broken ribs and a punctured lung. Romo did it against the 49ers in 2011. Don't know too many qbs who'd play through not one, but TWO fractured transverse processes in his back. Romo had it happen to him in a game against Washington in 2014 and finished the damned season.
Got nothing but respect for the man.

Which is understandable.. but not something they should openly discuss with the media or the players. Instead.. listen to the players the coaches.. the fans.. and even the non fans.. and put together a championship team!
Add quality free agents.. and by all means.. trade some of the talent prior to those hefty contracts for draft capital!

Romo was hamstrung by front office that had to restructure contracts EVERY offseason. Jerry Jones to this day doesn't understand the value of role players and depth. Depth wins you championships homie. The Cowboys in the 90s could lose Aikman or Irvin or other big defensive names to injury and still be competitive. When Romo got hurt, that was the season. It tells you Romo was the reason we even sniffed the playoffs when we played. When the Patriots lost Brady in 2008, they still went 11-5. Drew Brees was knocked out of large chunks of seasons and his team was still competitive. Even then, Brees and Rodgers only have one ring. It's not like they have a plethora of years dominating the league like Aikman did. Shit the last Super Bowl Manning played in, the Broncos won it IN SPITE of how terrible he played in that game. The Broncos defense won that game. You're stuck on stupid if you think Romo couldn't win a ring with those other teams.

People might think he caused them to lose. Reality is, he's the reason they had a chance everytime he played. O-line wasn't great
Who was the best o-lineman he played with for more than one or two seasons?
Who was the best RB he ever played with?
No defense he ever had rated better than 16th in league. Most of the time, they were horrible. Had some good individual players like D Ware, but overall they stunk.
If you dont understand that he was the difference maker, look at the team when he was out! Offense stunk!
He had numbers comparable to the best of his era every season. Too bad they couldn't surround him with more talent and wasted his career. Shame!
