Thanks for doing NAMM coverage. It has been missed the past few years! Mooer has a great lineup this year.
Considering the Variax came out nearly 20 years ago, there hasn't been a lot of innovation in this space since.
Enjoyed seeing the Captain looping and jamming along.
I love that it is just the guitar. Put your presets in, and you don't need to fiddle with anything, just grab the guitar and you are good to go. As a one-guitar-guitarist who doesn't have a setup and plays into headphones in my bedroom az home, it's just right for me, and i ordered one a couple days ago.
Mooer stuff is awesome
Mooer stuff is awesome and has been better than other well known gear for me. Great tone and easy use is their thing!
Awesome everything at Mooer! Thanks Ander!
You could feel the tumbleweed rolling past Lee when the Mooer rep was explaining the pedal 😂
Pretty sure I actually saw some.
@@davidf2281 😆🫢
Great tones!!
As with everything, I think the future will continue to be having both integrated and modular options. There are always cases where it is worth giving up some flexibility for convenience, but there are also always cases where you want the flexibility of modular.
Even if you’re running all VSTs in a laptop (or some future equivalent), there will be times when you want to mix-and-match guitars and computer platforms or have to kludge something to workaround interop challenges.
Very nice guitars. If they are set up well, why not! And my first impression of the captured sounds, pretty good!
I like the Mooer products, great for the price
Moo.
Damn that green metallic guitar looks magnificent.
might be my favorite this year.......
Yeah, I’ve been checking out a lot of videos on this guitar and the Gtrs P 900 is the pro level one with steel fret, maple roasted neck, locking tuners. It’s only a little bit more. The GTRS S801 is pro too and the S800 is not but all modeling is the same tones on all. It is so impressive I suggest you go and watch reviews on this. this blows me away, because I have ant modelers Ones you can busk with, and I’m telling you this goes above and beyond those by a mile
I would love to see you guys do a deeper dive on this in your your shop because this really deserves a deeper dive. It is incredible what they can do.
10:17 such a genuine reaction
9:50 The presets are a bit over the top but I gotta say the Captain's little jam there does sound really good.
Mooer is doing really cool things!
Mooer GTRS is amazing !!!
NAMM 2064: Lee holds up a purple guitar. Pete "I like the color".
Cool although my concern with tech like this is always that the manufacturer gets bored with it and stops supporting the app within 2 or 3 years
The multi effects unit looks great
Yep, sadly, I have a Mooer GE200 and their last update was almost a year and a Half ago.
@@rudicci - I have a Mooer GE200 and I feel it's kind of pointless creating updates for it. They took it about as far as it can go and that's that. I mean, are you bothered that your JCM800 hasn't had a firmware update? Or your Fender Twin Reverb? Personally, I think they had a great sounding product that was about as good as most in the market when it came out... and it still sounds great. That said, I do wish it was more repairable... one of my footswitches is kind of wonky and since it's not an old-school mechanical switch I can't replace it.
@@MarcCoteMusic I think you are missing the point a bit. That's the whole thing. The idea behind CPU/Cloud powered boards is that you shouldn't get limited support when you are still running the same product family. Back in the day, my Line 6 POD got updates until they moved to the Helix family, and my Helix still gets new things added. You cannot tell me that you are going to cut support for your best selling entry point for a lot of your customers, while not refreshing the line up. Keep in mind I love the little guy and I got great sounds out of it, but things like not having a Vol/Exp pedal block to move around that could be solved with a patch are baffling.
@@rudicci - You've made a good point about the movable vol block and other 'obvious' improvements. I also had the Pod bean (V2). I don't know if I ever updated it. I just played it until I got something I liked more at which point I shelved the Pod until I sold it about 4 years ago.
I guess I don't think too much about updates because every couple or three years I'm getting something new. I know... it's a bad habit.
@@MarcCoteMusic You are a blessed guy my brother. Keep it up. I like Mooer. It seems like an easy bet to recommend to any beginner. They just need to nail down that support part.
Does it do alternate tunings as well?
Mooer some cool budget stuff and always around & above 4/5.
Not so budget any more. The last thing I've noticed that could be considered 'budget' was the GE200, which I own. Great sounding unit. There may have been other things released by them that fall into that category but I haven't run across any lately.
Mooer stuff is awesome
What about this pink one, next to the g1000. It seems like a prime p2 integrated foot switch and processor. Does anybody knows if that’s right? Nobody is talking about this gear. It seems like a great idea, too
I got the Prime P1 and F4 footswitch, as soon as I got it I thought, why don't they just put it all in the footswitch, and I posted that idea everywhere I go online...
...then I got the P2 which works with the F4;
now I ordered the S1. Combined with a stereo powered wedge (or in-ears), wireless guitar system, and a USB charger...it's the easiest load in/out for live use.
S1 is less than many pedals.
I like my guitars, so really not interested in the GTRS with the modeler built in.
The S1 just needs an expression pedal input, maybe the S2 will have it, and I'll buy that too!
😎
I’d like something like the Spark Go but with the ability to do looping somehow. Wonder if this new Mooer amp will do that
Get a small loop pedal for it. I have the spark 40, its awesome. Gonna get the cab and footswitch for it, go gig with it, just to piss off the purists hahaha
@@janusn9 yeah thought about that Ditto Mini Looper for it. Only issue I guess is that it would be in the very front of the effects chain. Would be nice if it could be at the end
Beautiful guitars 🎸. They remind me of the Line 6 Variax + POD HD500 combo from 20 years ago
I think Lee & Pete need a personal speaker system to amplify their voices so they don't have to shout so much. 🤔😄
nice
It's like a Variax 2.0 with more appealing instruments. They look and sound amazing.
GTRS has everything built in except a tuner 😉
Whammy bar please!!!
Mooer pedals built-in to guitar.
What happens if the company goes out of business? Who is going to maintain the app to make sure it works with every OS update?
wish mooer would offer their guitars without the smart features
Where is the Kramer NAMM 2044 at?
COOL !! AWESOME !!
Dragged Under's Tony Cappocchi casually in the background talking to people
Will it still work in 70 years time like a Fender Strat?
No..and neither will you probably :)
Lee has that four-days-at-an-international-trade-show rasp
Just listening to Lee is giving me a sore throat hope they both dodge the Nammthrax
With all the connected stuff and app crap, it is going to take a lot of effort to not get distracted from the main goal of making music and playing the guitar.
"Not jazz!" hahaha.
I've never been to NAMM, but talk about Information and Sonic overload... they should prob erect 10ft walls every other aisle to kill noise.
You'd need an ISO booth (or many of them) for each company. While I feel like that should be the route they take, it would cost an absolute fortune.
I'd don't really like how everything around has to turn into a computer...toothbrushes, guitars, glasses, watches, even clothes..everything has to be connected somehow :( I love playing my guitar, it gives me a break from any type of screen connected devices, and I love that and will keep that way :) It is just a personal opinion :)
You're not on your own. I'm sick of it 😂
From a creative and writing tool aspect it's all amazing for woodshed players. I've always wanted a device that i could wear like a hat and capture the music i hear in my brain. I hear full arrangement type stuff. We may soon be there
It won't be long until you will have a guitar with pitch correction. Then you will have it correct wrong notes. Then one that plays itself and you just play air guitar.
@@robertellison4691 😆 hilarious 👍
When they get away from switches and it's voice command.. it'll almost be too simple not to use ,but none of this makes me feel I've got to have it.. though it sounds great
One day soon even toilet paper rollers will be hooked to the cloud so it will count how many slices were needed to clean our asses
mono in? no synth, no sale
My guitar is intelligent- I on the other aren't 😂😂😂😂😂😂
#1 I think they should sale that tech to be installed in any guitar.
#2 I think those switches for the pedal are way too close together.
Mooer. Let me think of a worse name. Quackery. Meowly. Sssssing. Heeonk-Heeonk. Can't even.
It's cool, but anything that needs an app is eventually going to be no longer supported. Who wants a guitar with an expiry date?
1) the guitar and Footswitch allow you to still switch through the banks and settings you had active at the time
2) you can use the guitar just like any other guitar when you turn off the modelling.
Just because an app or a device isn't updated doesn't mean it stops working. I have Positive Grid JamUp Pro running on two iPod Touch and two iPad Mini on iOS 6, 7 & 8. Haven't been updated in many years, obviously. Everything still works and sounds great.
@@Wrzlprnft Ok, so only some of the parts have an expiry date... I don't want to put anyone's hard work down, but this kind of thing has been tried before and a more modular system always wins out. Unless it can get results you can't get any other way, there's just no reason to choose this over more flexible options.
@@MarcCoteMusic It stops working when you can no longer buy a device that can run the OS version required for the app. Your iP(o/a)ds will eventually fail.
@@martintaylor1701 - True but it's been ten years and shows no signs of imminent failure - and I have it on four devices. I think by the time I'm at that point, I'll have forgotten all about JamUp (which is almost the case now though I still use them for practice now and again). Even old-school stuff breaks. I've worn out or broken or had stolen heaps of guitars, amps, speakers, mixers, vehicles and so on. I move on. Very little can stay static forever in someone's life. Certainly not in mine.
It’s as smart as your mom
It's just a crying shame that Mooer's after sales support/service is so abysmal.
It's good when the craptain shuts up. FFS mate
I guess song writing is gone?
Why does it sound so bad?
So a guitar that gives guys who can run a keyboard something to do besides learn to play. So many slips twixt a cup and a lip. Also gives a guy something to blame if it does not sound quite right. Cant practice tonight the wifi is down, Nay say I Nay
Cool. But lets be real those look absolutely hideous. Especially that headless model.
Different strokes and all that. I quite like the look of the headless model and I'd love to own the purple Super Strat model.
