Thank you soooo much for this!!!! This is the best singing tutorial on the whole web, and it has just stopped me from trying to squawk my way up the register. After just five mins I am now comfortably singing higher than ever and I now believe that I will get to the whistle register by using your method. I’m so grateful!!!🙏❤️❤️
Great video! Here to remind people that whistling is just the cherry on top. Work on your connected registers first bc whistles create a hole in the middle voice, disconnecting your range. Notice the people who are good at whistling doesn't have the same ease in the belting/mixed range?
this is so true I started whistling before I improved those spots and it set me back a lot , but after I worked on them for a few years I can whistle and it doesn't affect those registers as much
Hi! I'm here because I was singing along to Mariah Carey and I think I was able to hit my whistle register I never knew I had lmfao- So I'm here to discover more of it without damaging my vocal cords. This was very helpful, I'll be sure to add some of these to my morning vocalization exercises. (: Honestly, I was shocked the first time I did it. It's probably because I don't hold back when I'm alone at home but in rehearsals I get nervous or around anyone that I'm not comfortable with lol

I remember the countless times I watched Zane's videos to practice whistles and without a doubt it helped me a lot! Of course, it's always good to improve and look for healthy ways to make Whistle without a doubt, Zane was one of my teachers at Whistle! Your whistles are beautiful, Zane!
How can I control/vocalize my whistle notes? Like how can I move between notes (riff/run) easily? How can I increase my whistle range? Also how can I control the amount of air released in whistle tones? 🤍
You’re spectacular!! I’ve always said that when whistles feel right, you can access them on a shut mouth. My record is C8 but after Covid I’m still getting them back on track. Your video has inspired me on e again! Thank you!
Maybe whistle notes aren’t necessary at all. The most important things to be a good singer are understanding the pitch, belting, vocal agility, the head (women)/falsetto(men) voice, mixed voice, and chest voice.
Your not alone. I can do it while lying down. Then eventually I got it but how I did my voice to get it changes. But I noticed the best time for me to do it, I don't pressure my neck at all. I also noticed weather determines my ability to do it. During the harmattan period, I could not find my whistle notes again until it's gone . Sometimes aswell, whenever I take sweets that clears the throat, it becomes easier
My whistle range is currently C6 - F#7 at the moment. I found it thanks to you Zane. Do you think I could get to G7 or maybe even A7 (probably a stretch), if I do expanding range exercises over time? I stop whenever I feel even just a tiny bit of pain in my throat so I don't screw up my cords. But, I'd like your opinion before I even try to do it. Edit: I hit a G#7, practice does pay off! Edit 2: I can go off the piano into the 8th octave.. Well heck. But my 6th and 7th octave notes are stronger than ever, I can do them whenever!
That’s extremely impressive! My highest usually is a Bb6 cause I have trouble ascending in pitch when it comes to the seventh octave, are you supposed to push less air when going higher or does the placement change? Or maybe is there any warm up for that? I can’t figure it out. Any tips?
@@TheCosmicNote When I do my 7th octave, I can sustain to an F7 usually nowadays. From my experience, I positioned my tongue a little more upward towards the roof of my mouth, and "closed" my throat a little more than 6th octave. Doing this with practice, I can whistle up to a B7 now. But, it varies for people. Just keep practicing, and don't push yourself too hard. Hopefully I was able to help!
You’re probably doing falsetto . Whistle naturally sits higher than falsetto . For me F6 is a low whistle . It doesnt matter what your vocal type is since it is a separate disconnected register
The hmm-ah exercise is good until like G6, after that, you better open your mouth like you do for a high note. The sound has to go somewhere and you keeping your mouth closed is only going to make it backfire the higher you go.
I can do them a little. I was trained as an opera singer. I heard that you can damage your voice if you do whistle tones too young like 14. My vocal coach was trying to get me to do them at 14 but my mom put a stop to it.
Wow! Thank you! This is soooo helpful! It’s been a really long time since I really exercised my voice properly and this is so helpful for getting my range back! Thank you 💗🥹 I know you said you aren’t a vocal coach… but maybe you should be! 🤔💗🙌🤭😂💗

Guys, for those who are Professional Singers, Vocal Coach, or anyone who knows about Vocal Care and Singing, I have several questions for you and I would appreciate it if you can answer these as early as possible. 1.) If a male singer already had a deep voice due to puberty, is there still a chance that it will go deeper or it will remain the same way? 2.) I'm a male and I'm 15 years old. I have my whistle register and I discovered it 1 year and 9-10 months ago. And I'm already in the puberty stage which my voice is already deep when I discovered my whistle register. Last year, I was good at using it and I also have a wide range like I can do low whistles in the 4th or 5th octave (I'm not sure with the 3rd octave cause I can go low) and I can also do high whistles that I can reach F7 - A7 (I think, sorry cause I don't know how to identify notes). But as time goes by, I barely hit whistle in the 7th octave and my highest whistle, for now, is E7 (I'm not sure). And I admit that I tend to oversing for about 1 hour every day but I'm not always whistling, I only use my whistle register for about 10-15 minutes and the rest of the time is I belt all the time. And I didn't take good care of my voice back then cause I lack sleep and rest to preserve my voice. And I don't take vocal warm-ups before singing. So how do I solve this problem? And there is still a chance that I can recover my voice from my bad habits before? I need advice or tips for this situation. 3.) Every time I sing, I used to belt and whistle at the same time. But the longer I sing, why do I lose my whistle register while singing? 4.) Do I have to use my whistle register every day? And if yes, how long should I use it? 5.) Does it happen that there were times that you can't hit the note right Like when I wake up in the morning, I feel like my throat is closed so I can't sing properly. 6.) How long should I rest my voice? 7.) When I belt, I always have to lean back and bend my face backward to belt. Is it wrong? What position do I have to do to belt properly and relaxed? 8.) Does coughing or clearing your throat considers a bad habit that can affect your voice? Cause I always cough and clear my throat because I feel like there's something stuck in my throat. That's why I tend to do this every time I sing. 9.) How can I improve my breath control so I can do sustained belts properly? Do I have to be physically fit to strengthen my lungs? I hope that you can answer my questions. So advance "THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR TIME AND ANSWERS!" P.S.: I'll edit this comment and add more questions because there are still questions about Vocal Care and Singing that are stuck in my mind.
Well yea...everyone has a whistle register, u just need the correct technique...im a baritone i can go down to D2 and mix up to Eb5 ...and in headvoice up to G#5 so my voice is really low....however i can use the whistle register up to A6 comfortably....(once i hit a C7) so u can do it too as well
I can get to F6. I'm a man. I don't know if I will ever get to C7. I can go very low so I guess I make up for the missing range with the lower register.
I can hit like upto b6 with my head voice and i can hit whistle upto like c8 highest ever is a8 but normally i can hit c8 or f8 but it sounds more like a male whistle sort of aaa like the dimash one i try to do the breathy mariah whistle i end up going in my head voice

I sound like a pterodactyl lol, I've been trying this for 2 years or so, and I wanted to make a metal scream of it, and suddenly did it randomly completely on my work, and now I sound like a pterodactyl which is fine I ques XD but this tips are perfect
I have a question i sound different when i sing .i sound light then i sound somewhat deep.when i sing light it feel effortless but when i sing somewhat deep it hurts my throat.should i sing lighter and higher in pitch
If you sing in the lower register it shouldn't hurt. You can try and do warmups going down the scale and that can help you out. Don't over do it by going too low and it feels uncomfortable. It might be that you are singing in an uncomfortable way when going to your lower register. But if singing in a lower register isn't really in your comfort zone that's ok. Can't really say based on your comment if I'd recommend singing in a higher pitch but find whatever is most comfortable for you and that doesn't strain your vocal cords. I'm an alto singer and I mostly sing the lower notes but there are times that I do sing high notes not as high as the sopranos but pretty close and what helps me out was the warmups going up the scale and as I grew, without realizing, I was also singing in my whistle register while jamming out to some of my favorite songs at home. So we can still find other registers that we can work on and continue growing our range/register. I also was able to manage singing other parts that I once considered that I was never going to be able to reach but now it seems easier the more I practice and with the help of different types of warmup. So if you can't reach your lower register don't be discouraged. By singing lightly are you singing in a form of half air half sound or a head voice type of singing? Also when we sing it does sound different and that's normal so don't worry to much about it.
I cant 'pull the note' i tend to pull my throat and that is everything wrong with my technique. Also I have bad sinus problems, blocked nose is the norm for me lmao I cant get past it. I think I may never hit the whistle note tone that I wanted
just an update lol i studied more and found the correct way to push out the breath needed to 'pull the note' like she said it's to use your diaphragm!! learn that and it'll come. i can already reach a few notes but im still improving to find that correct muscle to use. ivve watched this video a few times to get the part she said about the support! i just didnt know how to engage that support. i do now but it's not yet natural to me. gonna work on it!
another update no one asks 😂 so I ended up with Covid few months ago and was force to talk and sing fully with my mouth and none of my nasal cavity and I just discovered I sang the wrong way for soo long!! I said I cant pull the note because I sang from chest voice/throat. I didnt even use the front of my mouth if that makes sense. So I literally just discovered how to sing head voice on demand lol. That was the problem!! Now Im able to get to D6 on a good day but it's hard go up, I still tense up. Im so much better with inhaled whistles tho but I dont practice it as I know it's bad for the throat or something
I can do it now it's easy do a vocal fry while inhaling and slowly push a little bit of air and you will start hearing some squeaks and a little bit of whistle then do it every day for like 10 min and make it stronger
@@nushaiurea5521 what techniques did you try tho? I can hit F6 but my comfort zone is c6-e7 and I can not even hit the e7 effortlessly, I try to meow like a cat lol. it works but I feel like I am damaging my voice.

just an update lol i studied more and found the correct way to push out the breath needed to 'pull the note' like she said it's to use your diaphragm!! learn that and it'll come. i can already reach a few notes but im still improving to find that correct muscle to use. ivve watched this video a few times to get the part she said about the support! i just didnt know how to engage that support. i do now but it's not yet natural to me. gonna work on it!
another update no one asks 😂 so I ended up with Covid few months ago and was force to talk and sing fully with my mouth and none of my nasal cavity and I just discovered I sang the wrong way for soo long!!
Netti pot to keep sinuses clear. Even when we aren't sick they tend to be a limited more gunned up than we realize.
Netti potting a few times a week.
I can do Whistle Notes up to a D6 and some days I go up to F6 and I am a Baritone ....But my Whistle Range starts at G#5 -D6-F6
omg ur so gooodddd :DD !!!!
damn my highest c8 (inhaled whistle) and e f 7ish (exhaled whistle)
I feel like I am doing a whistle note but really I think I am Squeaking
i just did it help how does it come out so easy and how do i TRAIN myself to remember that 😂
Im a Baritone/tenor now i can support a F#7 And Sustained a A7 but when i try to pass a A7 i start to strain
You cannot support a whistle notes tho
@@axelito6342 sure u can Mariah does it all the time
@@Ariii78 I Don't think you need to whistle above D7.. the 6th octave is the best in my opinion
@@Meow-uo5vk its not about needing its about supporting 😊
Well explained 👍🙂
Thank you for this video... how do yoi develop it? And practice without hurting and straining your voice
I'm tired of finding my whistle notes, no matter what practice I do, it doesn't really come out.
I can do it now it's easy do a vocal fry while inhaling and slowly push a little bit of air and you will start hearing some squeaks and a little bit of whistle then do it every day for like 10 min and make it stronger
I can do it now don't give up
@@rafayhussain8557thank youuuu, I'll do that later. ♥️
@@nushaiurea5521 yeah I'll not😊
@@nushaiurea5521 what techniques did you try tho? I can hit F6 but my comfort zone is c6-e7 and I can not even hit the e7 effortlessly, I try to meow like a cat lol. it works but I feel like I am damaging my voice.
Can you recommend any songs with whistles for beginners?
I want to know because I don't have a big range. When I (try to do whistle notes) my voice sounds very airy I wonder if that is vocal damage.
I always vocal warm up every day and whistle warmups too but I never can reach a whistle tone just falsetto 😢😓
I never understood how to position your throat muscles and how much vibration my vocal cord needed
I didn't expect I could go upto C7
But this time... I did it 😊😊
Same but it was my lowest note my highest was b6 but happy to attempt the 5th octave
your voice is really cute 😂💛💛
as a guy the mm ah's are really hard to do and at the top of my range, it doesn't seem to help find my whistle
I CANT VE LIGHT HOW DO YOU DO IT MY TONES COME OUT SO STRONG AND WHEN I TRY TO DO IT AIRY, MY THROAT HURTS
Could you make how to find whistle for boy?
7:15
But when I breathe it out nothing comes!
Literally just air. ..
Fuck this is frustrating
Am i the only one who is coming here not only to watch the video but also luvs the way she talks

Yo teacher you’re the best 👌🏽🙌🏽🤩
Tanks fam!!
Hey Zane!! I kid you NOT, I hit a C7 ONCE AND I MEAN ONCE....... Is that apart of my range or it was just a moment in time.
Is it posible to not have a whistle register at all? I am not a bad singer but I can’t even get the “lowest” whistle note out 😢
I still can't even produce a sound when open I've tried several times I lost it 2 years ago when I could still somewhat whistle now I can't
