Just in case you aren't updated, the RX 6600 massively undersells its MSRP in comparison to cards that came out at a similar time like the RTX 3050 in most regions if you keep an eye out for deals (around £170-£200 in most instances in the UK). Definitely a good and cheap upgrade if you are stuck on cards starting to show their age, like the RX 580 or GTX 1060.
I agree the second hand price for RX 6700 Xt / RX 6600 is crazy I got my second RX 6600 pulse around 135 us dollar / compare to first one i got during cryto boom around 430 us dollar :/ but i trade with 1070 ti so i don't lose much Also I got Rx 6700 xt nitro for around 180 us dollar with warranty 1 year + left so I think the value for AMD card is crazy and performance seem to improve a lot I'm glad with the price that everyone can play game at medium ~ high
grabed an RX6600 at 200 euros last month to install it in an old system I bought second hand (i5 6600k @4.3ghz). The whole system was cheaper than your CPU alone, draws less than 250W total in full load, and offers a very respectable HD gaming experience.
Graphics card pricing is just so depressing nowadays. My 1080ti is a little sluggish with newer games so I went to my local microcenter to look at newer gpus. $1900 for 3080tis in stock and they said its around $1100-1200 for a 3080 before they immediately sell out. They also had some 6800xts for $1400. Just completely fucking ridiculous.
I ended up getting a 6900xt for 1650$. I waited over a year for a new GPU...and at the time it was obvious this bullshit wasn't going to end soon. (It was last month just before the shipping container madness.)
1080ti? sluggish? i feel like this only makes sense if you were trying to use it at 4K... which its really not a 4K minus pretty old games or super well optimized games for a while now. but its still pretty strong at 1440p high settings, basically as fast as a 2070 super without using DLSS, which is still faster than a base 3060. i dont know if you upgraded yet, but id highly advise you just wait till things get better hopefully around the end of next year, start of 2023. basically any card around a 2060 super with DLSS or as fast as a 2070 super without DLSS should be good till then at 1080p to 1440p. but i mean i get you. i went from a 2060 to a 6700 XT cause i wanted to match atleast a PS5 or Series X in overall game performance. just to make sure everything i play works. sold the 2060 for $500 and bought an XFX 6700 XT Merc 319 for $720 so i didnt really gain or lose out on much money in the end.
@@Angel7black BF4 runs 4k ultra 140 FPS average no AA Apart from cyperpunk which runs awfully for how it looks on all hardware my 1080 ti is pretty good. Additionally max settings are hardly ever worth it and before 2017 I used console meaning 40 FPS in single player games is fine for me. Especially since a 3060 ti which is barely better costs roughly 8% more than my 1080 ti was. I agree with your comment

Given the huge price difference between the rtx 3060ti, I’m delighted to have the rx6600 fighter for £249. I play Fortnite and Far Cry 6 at the moment on a ryzen 7 3700x with 32gb ram. Looking forward to the results.
@@AenneaMinolta Happy enough, you still need to tweak games like Fortnite to achieve 120+ fps which is annoying but overall a solid card. Performance on Cyberpunk is excellent Far Cry at max setting is 60 fps + and hypercharge unboxed looks great also. Its a budget card at the end of the day.

umm around me the local microcenter has a bunch of cards in stock but the thing is that even though they are at MSRP the board partners have them very close to scalper prices. so they are nowhere near Nvida/AMD MSRP
Another part of that problem is people buy them from those stores at near msrp and immediately put them online for sale even if they never done that before so just trying to make money like they see scalpers do which makes the problem continue. It's one of the dumbest thing you could do. I know people who have friends who done this with different products and it's frustrating.
In the us at best buy, the XFX Swift 210 is running 259.99. Drivers a solid enough to drive a 1440p resolution on high settings at 60+ fps. It’s a solid gaming experience and there is no hitching that I have noticed
What people fail to realize is the amount of inflation happening in the last two years. Everything from consumer goods to commodities and raw materials have seen a 30-50% rise in price. Pair that with the chip shortage and the huge supply chain issues and current market is developed. Not to mention the shipping costs which have increased 5-10x. Look around in other consumer electronics and everything has inflated like cars, houses and rents etc. It's only natural that this inflation will be seen in GPU prices. As much as we would like to see the days of sub $300 cards for gaming, those days are over because the inflation is here to stay. This is the new normal.

I think the RX6600 is still the best budget king for 1080p gaming IMHO. The price is starting to fall so there is nothing to argue about :D It is the most power efficient (to performance it offers) graphics card to have ever been made running at 100W.
I bit the bullet and bought a 6600 SWFT for $550, I’m not super happy about it, but it felt like the best deal I could get right now, since I cannot find anything decent for less than $700 right now. Hopefully the market will return to normal, then again we are supposedly in the “new normal” right now.
That's a beautiful card in my opinion. I'd buy that just for the 210 styling. But at 550USD, that's a bit bonkers. Where I'm at they retail for for 450USD +, but an entry level 3060 is still 528USD +. I guess as people flock away from mining, the gaming market is picking up all the 30 series cards and rx's are becoming available quicker than the 30s.

@@meusana3681 No experience with 1440p, my display is only 1080p. When I was researching the card I saw it was 4k capable, but for the most graphically intense games XFX recommended playing at 1080p. This card will display anything I throw at it with high settings and 60fps. I definitely recommend it!

That wasn't the new normal. That was when they could sell to miners in bulk (and they did). People who paid inflated prices willingly because it was still an amazing ROI. Now that *that* (ETH) bubble is dying, the prices are falling, and they are falling below MSRP, as expected. Because Nvidia and AMD need to sell *numbers* and those prices mean there will be no numbers (not in the magnitudes their business and they supply change require).
@Paul great video as usual! Slight correction, FidelityFx Super Resolution is not supported in CP2077 so the best they can do is enable dynamic resolution scaling and hope that FSR comes with the next patch.
I've bought, once upon a time, an RX 560 4gb for 90 Euro, new.. Pc gaming is not dead at all, tons of retro games, with bad graphics and unbelievable fun to play and great story content!
Play project zomboid. With a 12400/5600 the game runs like a charm consuming almost no graphical processing. I suggest having at least 16gb ram, but as for gpu, you can play this with a 1650 or heck, maybe even a 1030.
Paul I just picked up a Red Devil 6600xt today mainly because I've waited over a year not being able to get anything. Currently running a 1080 that I've had for 6 years still runs well but that's about my refresh cycle is on hardware. Plus i can resell my 1080 and almost make my money back. I paid 630 but have seen this card in the 800 dollar range the 6600 cards now are consistently in the 500-600 range which is nuts. I really wanted a 6700xt or 6800 but I cant pay 1100-1500 for one of those cards. I paid 569 for my 1080 in late 2016 early 2017 that's about my limit on a card and I've been a builder for 20 years and these prices are nuts.
Found an open box Power Fighter 6600 at Microcenter for $151 on Tuesday to pair with the 5600x. I think they're going to include Starfield with it as well!

I picked up the Powercolor Fighter for $329 today from the NewEgg Shuffle to replace an aging RX470 Gaming which will be sold for right around that same price so significantly faster performance for near zero net cost.
i feel like this video needs a redo at this point this card can be found for under 300 dollars now add in driver improvements along with SAM and FRS this card is arguably the value king right now and runs a lot better then it did a year ago
Bought - Sapphire Pulse Gaming RX 6600 for 349gbp of Overclockers retailer here in UK, launch price for it was 299gbp so, seeing it priced like that in current market conditions quickly jumped the ship and it will be used by my brother, replacing his r9 290x while I still hold on to my - 5 year old gtx 1080
just bought one of these, if I wasn't upgrading from a rx480 4gb I probably would have missed this out, but at the price point it seems fair to me, especially for being able to use RT at decent fps :)

Have you seen the prices on the Nvidia's? I'll take the 6600 thank you. I'm currently still using an RX 480 8gb and for me that would be a massive upgrade.
thanks for this coverage Paul. I'm a user that looks at Power Consumption. So the 6600 non xt is an interesting option. But not at the current pricing. I usually lean towards GPUs that are under 200W TDP

An RTX 2060 is 160W TDP, RTX 2070 is 175W TDP, RX 6600 is 135W TDP, RX 6600 XT is 160W TDP, GTX 1070 is 180W TDP, GTX 1070 TI is 180W TDP. I'd only spec an APU in a build for an office type PC or a lite content consumption build. Also, I don't play AAA titles. I never go current gen parts, it's not in my financial means. Along with the current GPU market being total insanity either new parts or used market GPUs. Even in local private deals, ppl are inflating prices since most know they can get more for their older GPU even if it is 3-4 generations older. Since I don't play AAA titles, I don't really have to use the GPU at 100% power limit. The titles I play, I put the power limit of my card to 60% via MSI AB. I still get over 60+ FPS.
Just got a Sapphire one at 6300 MXN here in México, which considering conversion rate and that hardware in México is between 30% and 80% more expensive, that would make it comparable to a 200 USD deal. I'm pretty happy with that

It is amazing you were able to hit 71C with your RX 6600, although I think I heard you mention auto-OC, so that's probably how. I have the ASRock Challenger version, which isn't represented here, but on stock settings I was in the low 60s C while running Heaven. After undervolting I was down to ~55 C. It's an incredibly cool card.
absolutely. 1650 super couldnt hit the ultra settings because it was capped at 4gb. now is it worth $330 plus tax.... more like $279 but that is never going to happen as long as the Federal Reserve keeps printing money and pushing up Bitcoin!
I gave up on pc gaming after my 580 died. Scalpers and miners are ruining the pc gaming market. Mark my words this will have everlasting consequences for years to come. But thanks Paul I still enjoy watching your videos.
I bought 2 of these on Scamazon's Prime day 2 years ago. Well worth it at the price on that day $273 including tax each. I was looking at the 3060 and 3060TI they were still on scalpers delight. They went down in price drastically a few months later but at the time I bought the 2 power color RX6600 the 3060 was MORE THAN THE 2 RX 6600 COMBINED! The 3060 TI was even more expensive so it was an easy call I was able to upgrade my rig and my brother's at the same time for a little less than IF I grabbed the 3060 for myself.

Excellent video Paul! Thank you for the review on the 6600
What people fail to realize is the amount of inflation happening in the last two years. Everything from consumer goods to commodities and raw materials have seen a 30-50% rise in price. Pair that with the chip shortage and the huge supply chain issues and current market is developed. Not to mention the shipping costs which have increased 5-10x. Look around in other consumer electronics and everything has inflated like cars, houses and rents etc. It's only natural that this inflation will be seen in GPU prices. As much as we would like to see the days of sub $300 cards for gaming, those days are over because the inflation is here to stay. This is the new normal.
If this is the new normal for supply prices, they better get used to the new demand normal of people not buying unnecessary goods anymore.
@@lunaraura2828 Fair point. This is the only real way the prices can come down. But it will have a negative effect on innovation from the manufacturers.

I think the RX6600 is still the best budget king for 1080p gaming IMHO. The price is starting to fall so there is nothing to argue about :D It is the most power efficient (to performance it offers) graphics card to have ever been made running at 100W.

I bit the bullet and bought a 6600 SWFT for $550, I’m not super happy about it, but it felt like the best deal I could get right now, since I cannot find anything decent for less than $700 right now. Hopefully the market will return to normal, then again we are supposedly in the “new normal” right now.
That's a beautiful card in my opinion. I'd buy that just for the 210 styling. But at 550USD, that's a bit bonkers. Where I'm at they retail for for 450USD +, but an entry level 3060 is still 528USD +.
I guess as people flock away from mining, the gaming market is picking up all the 30 series cards and rx's are becoming available quicker than the 30s.
@@meusana3681 As time has gone on I have no regret buying the card! It can handle anything I throw at it! It is not made to mine, it CAN, but it wouldn’t be worth the power draw in my opinion.

@@meusana3681 No experience with 1440p, my display is only 1080p. When I was researching the card I saw it was 4k capable, but for the most graphically intense games XFX recommended playing at 1080p. This card will display anything I throw at it with high settings and 60fps. I definitely recommend it!
That wasn't the new normal. That was when they could sell to miners in bulk (and they did). People who paid inflated prices willingly because it was still an amazing ROI.
Now that *that* (ETH) bubble is dying, the prices are falling, and they are falling below MSRP, as expected. Because Nvidia and AMD need to sell *numbers* and those prices mean there will be no numbers (not in the magnitudes their business and they supply change require).
The RX 6600 is now under MSRP, costing £289.99, is it worth it paired with a 10th gen i5?
Well I am glad I "won" the opportunity to purchase a 3060 yesterday in the shuffle yesterday at only 25% over MSRP. Yay me.
Imagine a world where MSRP or anywhere close to it is only available to the select few. 🤣

@Paul great video as usual! Slight correction, FidelityFx Super Resolution is not supported in CP2077 so the best they can do is enable dynamic resolution scaling and hope that FSR comes with the next patch.

Play project zomboid. With a 12400/5600 the game runs like a charm consuming almost no graphical processing. I suggest having at least 16gb ram, but as for gpu, you can play this with a 1650 or heck, maybe even a 1030.
Paul I just picked up a Red Devil 6600xt today mainly because I've waited over a year not being able to get anything. Currently running a 1080 that I've had for 6 years still runs well but that's about my refresh cycle is on hardware. Plus i can resell my 1080 and almost make my money back. I paid 630 but have seen this card in the 800 dollar range the 6600 cards now are consistently in the 500-600 range which is nuts. I really wanted a 6700xt or 6800 but I cant pay 1100-1500 for one of those cards. I paid 569 for my 1080 in late 2016 early 2017 that's about my limit on a card and I've been a builder for 20 years and these prices are nuts.

I picked up the Powercolor Fighter for $329 today from the NewEgg Shuffle to replace an aging RX470 Gaming which will be sold for right around that same price so significantly faster performance for near zero net cost.

i feel like this video needs a redo at this point this card can be found for under 300 dollars now add in driver improvements along with SAM and FRS this card is arguably the value king right now and runs a lot better then it did a year ago

Bought - Sapphire Pulse Gaming RX 6600 for 349gbp of Overclockers retailer here in UK, launch price for it was 299gbp so, seeing it priced like that in current market conditions quickly jumped the ship and it will be used by my brother, replacing his r9 290x while I still hold on to my - 5 year old gtx 1080
just bought one of these, if I wasn't upgrading from a rx480 4gb I probably would have missed this out, but at the price point it seems fair to me, especially for being able to use RT at decent fps :)

5:33 Hmmm, Jay did benchmarks on the 6600 and got these results with Time Spy extreme: Powercolor 6600xt - (4534) EVGA 3060 - (4223) Powercolor 6600 - (3818) NVIDIA RTX 2060 FE - (3466). Have you seen the prices on the Nvidia's? I'll take the 6600 thank you. I'm currently still using an RX 480 8gb and for me that would be a massive upgrade.

thanks for this coverage Paul. I'm a user that looks at Power Consumption. So the 6600 non xt is an interesting option. But not at the current pricing. I usually lean towards GPUs that are under 200W TDP
Then you're better off with an APU because I don't see the power consumption of dGPUs going down anytime soon.
@@chrisjr6214 well there are actually quite a few options below under 200W TDP. An RTX 2060 is 160W TDP, RTX 2070 is 175W TDP, RX 6600 is 135W TDP, RX 6600 XT is 160W TDP, GTX 1070 is 180W TDP, GTX 1070 TI is 180W TDP. I'd only spec an APU in a build for an office type PC or a lite content consumption build. Also, I don't play AAA titles. I never go current gen parts, it's not in my financial means. Along with the current GPU market being total insanity either new parts or used market GPUs. Even in local private deals, ppl are inflating prices since most know they can get more for their older GPU even if it is 3-4 generations older. Since I don't play AAA titles, I don't really have to use the GPU at 100% power limit. The titles I play, I put the power limit of my card to 60% via MSI AB. I still get over 60+ FPS.

Just got a Sapphire one at 6300 MXN here in México, which considering conversion rate and that hardware in México is between 30% and 80% more expensive, that would make it comparable to a 200 USD deal. I'm pretty happy with that

It is amazing you were able to hit 71C with your RX 6600, although I think I heard you mention auto-OC, so that's probably how. I have the ASRock Challenger version, which isn't represented here, but on stock settings I was in the low 60s C while running Heaven. After undervolting I was down to ~55 C. It's an incredibly cool card.
I only have one question.... is the RX 6600 better than the 1650 Super I already have? That's the only important info I need.
absolutely. 1650 super couldnt hit the ultra settings because it was capped at 4gb. now is it worth $330 plus tax.... more like $279 but that is never going to happen as long as the Federal Reserve keeps printing money and pushing up Bitcoin!

I bought 2 of these on Scamazon's Prime day 2 years ago. Well worth it at the price on that day $273 including tax each. I was looking at the 3060 and 3060TI they were still on scalpers delight. They went down in price drastically a few months later but at the time I bought the 2 power color RX6600 the 3060 was MORE THAN THE 2 RX 6600 COMBINED! The 3060 TI was even more expensive so it was an easy call I was able to upgrade my rig and my brother's at the same time for a little less than IF I grabbed the 3060 for myself.
