Before I restored the hood latches on my 79, the hood would open and close perfectly. After the restoration the left side was sticking a little. Then I notice the stud holes on the latches were oval and could be adjusted, Moved the left latch about 1/8" to the right BADDA BING BADDA BOOM! Opens and closes like a charm.
You have some great videos that have been a big help (especially the carbs). I just passed smog on my 79 Vette after a carb. rebuild and some distributor adjustments . I haven't seen you do a video on door latches which I'm having trouble with, and seem to be a common problem on the C3's. I't will go a few weeks with no issue, and then out of the blue the door won't unlock with the key. I've had the latch out, cleaned, lubed, adjusted, etc. Works for awhile, then won't unlock. Ugh!!! Suggestions? Thanks.
Hello. I would have the lock barrel checked by a locksmith and have new keys made. If that does not solve the issue, the problem may be due to one of the rods out of adjustment. If nothing works, then the latch itself may be failing. Good luck, and thank you for watching! 😊👍🏻
Ive been lookin for these latches brand new for a long time but no one seems to have them brand new......this is the next best thing thank u
Thank you for watching! 😊👍🏻

I really like how the red springs look against the silver-painted bracket.
Thank you! 😊👍🏻
You do a great job, just love the details.
Just bought a 79 c3 L82 manual and will be doing just what you did.
Thanks
Thank you for the kind words and for watching my videos! And congratulations on your 79 Corvette! 😎👍🏻
Nice detail work Luis, I'm sure you could take any C3 completely apart and put it back together looking brand new!
Thank you, Jack! 😊👍🏻
Great work!
Thank you for watching! 😊👍🏻
Details like this add up and in the end make for a beautiful car. Thanks for sharing
They do. Thank you, Dan! 😊👍🏻
Beautiful work and detail! Turned out looking awesome! Was that a Carter Thermoquad I spied in the background! 😊👍
Thank you, Mitch! 😊👍🏻 The carb on the bench is a Rochester Quadrajet 1705.

Beautiful work! Did you use any lubricant on the latches?
Thank you! 😊👍🏻 I think I spayed a bit of WD40 on moving parts.
Nice job. Just wondering, do plan on a repaint of the car?
Thank you! 😊👍🏻 Not really. I’ll try to save and polish what’s there.
Hi did you have to grease any parts for smooth operation. ?
Not really. Everything was working well. 😊👍🏻
Wouldn’t hurt to put some white grease on cable 👍
@@anthonycammaroto7013 Yeah that’s not a bad idea. I may spray some lube to quiet it down a bit. Thank you! 😊👍🏻
Nice video (as always) My question is do you know where to purchase replacement latch springs? I have a 1977 no luck finding. Thank you
I would try eBay or specialist salvage yards if aftermarket Corvette parts sellers don’t offer replacement parts. 😊👍🏻
The c3 expert people 😂
Lol 😆 Thank you! 😊👍🏻
I wish I had 20% on your knowledge on the Corvettes ❤️✨🎶
@@markrichardson3566 Very kind but you should wish for a higher percentage. For real. Haha 😆
