Impact Story: Changing the Culture of Rockville Correctional Facility

Shay White has been incarcerated at Rockville Correctional Facility for almost 20 years. A former nurse, a mother of four, and a wife, she says, “I never thought I’d end up in a place like a prison.” Shay felt isolated and had lost everything she’d worked for her entire life. But when she experienced the Global Leadership Summit in 2021, Shay was inspired to face her fears. She stepped out in courage to change her facility with a 100-day kindness challenge. It has transformed the culture around her, one small act at a time.

My wife is currently incarcerted at Rockville. She's gotten a lot better thanks to them, but their chapel services can be VERY homophobic, transphobic, and killing to invidualism.
