Thank you for highlighting this. Castles weren’t always for strategic strength, but stopover towers and in places where there were natural fortresses such as dense forest, water, and steep escarpment.
I really enjoy your videos. I wish though you could show a picture of a concept artists thoughts on how it originally looked. I don’t know if that’s possible but it would be very welcome. Thank you.
Thankyou for mentioning this great idea! It is certainly something I will look into. There are already some great videos here on youtube which recreate several Welsh castles as they may have been when built. You've inspired me to take a new look and perhaps find a way to add to my videos by adding some clues for how castles may have been when built. I think I will start simple and build on that. Fantastic suggestion, and I really do appreciate your input! Watch this space......
@@GTexplores thank you for that. I’m looking very much forward to more videos from you. You just do a better job narrating them than most castle historians.
Thanks for the kind comment. Also thanks for the continued support - I know you've commented kindly on previous videos! I'm kinda new to youtube and still "finding my feet". Things were not going too well recently, but I think it was just me being too adventurous and I confused "the algorithm". I've now created separate channels for food stuff and for visiting towns. GT
Watched a couple of your UA-cam videos, will watch more. Research is good, videos are just the right length to maintain interest. Work on your narrative delivery (not accent, but accentuation and pitch) and I'm sure your videos will be enjoyed by many more people. Let's have more videos, please. 👍
Thankyou! I know, but being Yorkshire born, my accent does make it tricky. I noticed this when travelling Europe! I do like to make some effort though.

Thank you - that is a very interesting story, and nicely told. So many castles - I seem to discover a new one every day.
Thankyou for the kind words!
It is said that here in Wales alone, there are, or have been, more than 600 castles!
