- Hey guys! Today I am going to be painting on and customizing a set of Russian nesting dolls (or matryoshka dolls). I have been waiting (and some of you too) forever to paint these, so I was really excited to finally decorate these and add my own style to them. It's a different type of doll customization haha. This was a really fun art project to do, I highly recommend it if you are looking for creative activities to do. There is so much potential to do all kinds of different characters with these and create a completely original set.
These are really awesome collectibles and make for such cool home decor. I could definitely see myself building a collection of them. They're also really fun to take apart and put back together lol

Hey! my name is Moriah (pronounced muh-rye-yuh 😂 ) and this is my channel....obviously. I'm 25 and like doing anything creative...and being snarky.....just a lil. I make a lot of decorating and painting videos here. I'm obsessed with editing and adding lil bits to my videos, so if that's not your thing....oof you may hate this haha. I paint on squishies, thrift store finds, and other random things I pick up. I also love to draw, but don't expect anything too skilled, I'm not the best at that haha. You will also find occasional crafting/testing crafting kits on my channel which are always a hot mess. And even some baking (REALLY bad at that, but it's fun to try LOL).

So many of you seem to think that I should have made the pineapple into gEoRgiE, and he is flattered lol. But since georgie IS a pineapple, it wouldn't have really matched with the others since they are all in costumes, so that's the reason why 😊 Maybe I'll have to make another set using my characters?! ♥️

I would love to see more Nesting Dolls, they are pretty awesome. I have a set of Harry Potter and the funny thing about mine, the tiniest one is Hagrid! LOL! The biggest character in the movie is a teeny tiny nesting doll. LOL! I love it!

I found out the difference . Gesso is thinner and dries harder making it easier to paint. White acrylic paint is thicker and less hard so it cracks a little bit more.

True gesso paint is white paint mixed with gypsum chalk or pigment. It's to give not so much cover but a tooth to what your painting so that the paint will stick to it. You use it on canvas so that the paint does not soak through.

I have completely forgotten about Russian Nesting dolls until now. However I now am remembering a beautiful set i used to have as a child that just charmed me for reasons I can not fathom. It would be really fun to do something like this though.
