  • This it the second installment of William Blanks Project World's Fastest Redcat Shredder..
In Project Wrold's Fastest Redcat Shredder Part 2 we cover how to not only replace the center differential with a few tips to make it easier. But we also cover the process of shimming the differential to reduce the factory slip allowance and reduce the chance of stripping gears on future high speed runs. We added 80W differential fluid to see how that compares to the factory grease. We also learned that the Front/Rear Differential for the Redcat Shredder can be interchanged with the center differential if you swap the spur gear and rearrange the bearings..
Subscribe if you want to follow along and be a part of this build as we try to create The Worlds Fastest RedCat Shredder..

Nice video. Learning how to shim different is very important. I've never had to shim my diffs in my shredder. But I have a dhk maximus and I've done extensive work on the weak diffs in that truck. There both awesome on 6s.

You should just lock the center differential and then put a metal spur gear totally different RC if you do it like that

That's pretty much the direction I'm heading in I think.. I also thought about locking it to try it out as a 2WD I have heard of a couple people trying it out and having success. As to the spur, I'm really just trying to see how far I can take the stock plastic spur before it finally breaks.. I have been running it for a little while on 6s and it has held up pretty good, but when it finally breaks it will replaced with a metal one..

Nice. I actually created an 8s spektrum powered shredder. It’s insane. I had to do a ton of modifications but I finally got it all together. I upgraded the center diff to a steel one and added a metal motor mount that allowed me to put a much larger motor in it.

That's awesome bro, these trucks are just at the right price you can buy them and mod away lol, and its nice to see all the creative ways people have came up with to mod them I don't think I have seen 2 people build one the exact same way yet.. what kind of speeds are you getting with it?

@@williamblanks8500 exactly bro. When I ran 4-6s I had a 120a esc on a 4076 can 2000kv motor with a 22t pinion gear and hit 82mph. Needless to say cutting through fields at high speed put extreme wear on my diffs. I recently upgraded from that to a spektrum 160a esc paired to a 1250kv motor with 17t pinion on 8s. I have not been able to get top speeds yet because no tire I currently have will stay on the rim long enough to acquire top speed. Ohh and I also upgraded the servo to a 35kg all metal one which works great.

@@visionz_n_media yes finding the right tires has been one of my biggest issues also, and probably where i will pick back up on the videos, new camera equipment is on the way now, and hopefully the tires will be in by then also.. I want someone to get one over 100mph just to prove if it can be done. idk if its gonna hold up being mostly plastic but not gonna stop me from trying lol..

@@williamblanks8500 😅 100 mph would be awesome. Hopefully one of us makes it happen. I’m looking forward to seeing your upcoming videos

Change out those dean’s connectors your going to have a meltdown with that little motor

They aren't my favorite connectors, but I think the problem I had with them was the heat that came from over gearing..
