Perfect video. A guy in his garage trying to make his car better. Most realistic situation to what most people are trying to also do in their garage. Massive improvement over the 90s grainy video that transgo has available. Heard that kit has gone through revisions that contradict the original Transgo video. Can’t thank you enough!!!

Thank you! Speaking of grainy vidoes, I got much better video equipment now 😁

Hey guys here's my vid of how to install a couple pieces of the transgo kit. Hope it's the pieces that you want me to talk about. Don't worry I'll do most the actual work between takes just to make this even more worthless

this is a nice kit for the money...I have a valvebody from PA trans, but was never happy with the 1-2 shift ..at high rpm it was too slow.. that changed after install of parts from this kit into the VB from PA...now the 1-2 shift is way faster...2-3 was never a problem.... nice videos like this are always very helpfull ....

I just bought this kit for my 86 bronco. I had it rebuilt and my 2-3 shift is just awful, I have fiddled with the tv cable and my governor with no real changes. I have actually talked to Dan at silver fox about a valve body and he suggested I try to install the kit I purchased and if it don’t work out then he’d build me whatever I needed. Seems like a good dude. Anyway this video helped a lot and God willing Saturday morning I’ll be installing my kit.

Thank you! I hope it all works well. I will be using Silver Fox rebuild tech pages when I rebuilt that poor AOD. I think my 2-3 shift is now at 4800 rpm (and firm). There is a stock governor you can get that will bump it up too

@@brokentoolgarage I got it installed but I’m still having a fast 2-3 shift, it’s better but not correct. I talked to a tech and he thinks the 2-3 TMV valve may be stuck, because I’m not getting the 3-2 downshift either. Also I was afraid to tackle the OD servo and it flares when going into OD so I got to suck it up, take it back out and install that and clean that valve and hope that’s my problem

@@robbymiller1980 Glad you got it together, but sorry that you are having issues. Cleaning the valve is directionally correct. 3-2 downshift issue and flare up does not sound good.

Great content 👍 Thank You . I personally like to use the blue lint free shop towels instead of the red shop rags because they don't have a lot of lint like the red rags do, I had a piece of lint jam My 2/3 shift valve up then I had to disassemble clean and reassemble the valve body ! One spec of lint can cause You grief just like getting in a hurry and not reading the instructions . I know because I've been there and done that also
    at least I've learned from my mistakes ( I hope ) .
Best Wishes and Good Luck . 🇺🇲🇵🇷🦊👍

Thank you! Those are the lint free red rags - not really that lint free though. I think the blue shop towels would have been better.

Im gathering information to rebuild a 88 thunderbird with a v6 and a 7.5 rear end I got for free from a buddy as my first project car. I plan on swapping a 5.0 out of my dads 91 LX that has the stock forged pistons, junkyard gt40 heads and intake that Im gonna try to port and polish, pull a 8.8 out of a junkyard and put some 3.73's in and rebuild the aod I have in the Tbird. This video gave me a better idea of what a shift kit even was, and how to install it. It's not rocket science after all! (Great tips were given to avoid many frustrations.)

Thank you! That is the reason I do these videos. That was the first time I ever installed a shift kit too - just go step by step and read the instructions a few times before starting. I hear Transgo has the best instructions for shift kits. Sounds like you are going to have a nice build!

Nice, filled in some holes, I just got this kit & its going to help me figure out how I mixed up some valves, lol. Rebuilt the tranny waiting on one part from a local shop & will get this together in the next week, thanks for the info.

@@brokentoolgarage have you added any else to your AOD transmission? And what time in 1/4 mile and horse power is your Fox holding? I want to keep my AOD in my Fox and there's little to no info on AOD transmissions.

    • @brokentoolgarage

You probably need some wrenching experience before you start this. This is actually my first shift kit install and first time diving into the AOD other than fluid and filter change. The Transgo kits have pretty good instructions.
