I came into Bionicle late in 2008. At the time, I only knew its existence from the 2006 Inika commercials. From there, I discovered Daughtry, Cryoshell, and others. My favorite character at the time was Toa Ignika, even if he didn't do much, simply because the Kanohi Ignika became a Toa. Lhikan, Jala, Matoro... All three sacrificed their lives. Jala may have been the only one to come back, but all three played great roles in the story. When Bionicle folded, especially since they only covered half the years they wanted (they wanted 20 years worth of story), I was saddened. I did have a soft spot for HF, even when they starting doing those BS cliffhanger copouts starting with the Breakout arc, but G1 Bionicle will always hola a place in my heart. Unity, Duty, Destiny.
