It doesn't even feel like a genre crossover, it's more electronic because the djent, while there, does not go into "mad polyrhythmeterwhatthefuck" territory, making the guitar another rhythmic sound to be used in the overall dubstep paradigm. It does sound fresh and unique, though, making for a badass track. And yes, electro and metal do mix.
I think Djent is it's own genre but I think it needs a different name as the sound is characterized by more than the usage of off-beat djenting. I wouldn't know what to name it though.
It's Nov 2016, and I have just discovered you. You were doing 23&me test results. I've spent the last three days listening to your music, and the more I listen, the more I find to like. I really REALLY like this one. :D
Dave, you're amazing! You are amazingly talented as well as really funny :D I love this track most out of all your djent mashups. You've come a long way with your videos and you life, as someone who struggles with liking them self as well among other problems, I know its very hard to be productive and be happy with a balance. I'm so glad you were able to find something to work for you, it's really inspiring. Love all your work! P.S. I know you hear this all the time and stuff, but I LOVE YOUR HAIR SO MUCH OMG XD
Melissa Krause I totally agree with what you said he's defiantly come along way and is strong enough to get over life's hurtles he's inspired me to be more productive and keep learning and growing and be a confident person.
this is awesome Dave, heard this on your spotify a while ago, but didn't know there was a video for it. Its cool to see you playing it and how you did it.
This was absolutely sick AF sir. Just learned about you recently off of Rob Scallons channel. I loved this and would also like to hear something in the future with even more polyrhythms. More djent in there. But still great!
This sounds like something that would be on New Demons by I See Stars! I agree with some other comments that the guitar sounds more like metalcore than straight-up djent, but genres are hard to put concrete definitions on, and it's still a sweet track.

***** Just because a couple dubstep producers are sponsored by monster and because it's been around for maybe 10-15 years without most people even realizing doesn't mean it won't die out. Also when people say it's going to die out are not exactly meaning that either. They mean that it is evolving to different subgenres. Such as Trap, and glitch hop. Look at alot of the old dubstep producers. Lots of them are not doing dubstep anymore, lots of Trap, D & B, and Glitch Hop. Dubstep is dying. Slowly, but it is. Accept it.
I knew it! I heard it on spotify in my discover weekly playlist a long time ago. I have my music play in the background and I neversaw who made it until just now!

I don't understand why so many people hate it when Metal and Dubstep are fused together. They fit together like gloves.
+TheDaemons agreed
+TheDaemons I agree, I'm not much of a dubstep fan in general. I love metal, and there is just something so badass about the two put together
+TheDaemons might be a "once bitten, twice shy" thing after numetal?
+TheDaemons "Fit together like gloves" Gloves do not fit together, analogy INCORRECT
***** He probably meant to say "fit like a glove", or something along those lines
djent Battle:Jared dines V.S BoyiNaband
+Lautaro Torres Sorry dude but its Jared by a long long shot.
Dave would win, no doubt. I love Jared and watch all of his videos, but Dave is the Djent Master.
+Lautaro Torres they don't call him djared for no reason
Ah but - BIAB can also bring Djentrance and Djentrap to the equation
Jared sucks ass man. Least original riffs going

you´re forgetting the least jent-like thing about the video, he´s only got 6 strings.
dissatisfiedgamer You sir, are a djentleman of the highest class
dissatisfiedgamer since when do you need more than 6 strings for "djent", if you got a 28" or 30" guitar... XD
vanishy0urself Its because of the stupid drum machine which makes me sad
vanishy0urself everything mixes well if you know how to produce music.... just listen to igorrr. any of it.
Much Djent.
Such Step.
Very Metal.
Wow.
THIS IS FRICKIN AMAZING.
haha 💯
the funny thing is that korn released their "the path of totality" album a couple months after this.
I love that album
same with muse and t2l lol but just under a year after vid
THERE AREN'T 9 STRINGS
^
12*
You sir, are wrong. Schecter has 9-strings
Pyro Pyro hehe 😆
it's not djent without 9 strings.
dos it realy mater
KoRn did this too but a whole album
Celldweller does this kind of music also.
Mick Gordon also did something like this
I'm pleasantly surprised how the internet hasn't freaked out over that "Atheist Producer" shirt yet

it says "I use logic and reason", thats the name of 2 software pieces that he uses to produce music :P that's the joke

Mad Butcher shred ftw
You should change your youtube name to Boy IS a Band
I didn't want that to end. The synth gave me chills - those minor seconds were just perfectly placed
going back to this track after 8 years :3 still lit asf
Dubstep and djent go together because they both include melodic parts. It's pretty cool!
gotta love the expressions made while he plays the guitar.
This is still one of my favourite videos, crazy to think how long ago it was though. Love you Dave, love the old and new work.
So basically this is Djent. But the video is from 2011. *X-Files theme plays*
JoshthePoser you idiot. Tosin and misha coined tha sound long before 2011. Do your home work and just because you found out about djent yesterday...
hahaha
dude, I didn't know anything about the genre yet. chill. I did my homework. I thought the genre was way younger than it is.
JoshthePoser now djent is a genre?? Keep up with your studies !! Geeze!!! LMAO
I think Djent is it's own genre but I think it needs a different name as the sound is characterized by more than the usage of off-beat djenting. I wouldn't know what to name it though.
you are a special kind of elitist, a dumber one than the average
One does not simply play Djent on a 6-string.
One simply plays whatever kind of guitar he wants ;) peace and respect
If tesseract do it in drop Bb then he can do it in drop B on a 6. SUCK EEET
Khi Macleod I play in drop A and drop G# on a six so....yeah.
*****
Wow you're so fucking inspirational.
Khi Macleod I know right?
I thought it was a nice blend. Heavy guitar riff mixed with 'not too crazy' dubstep
This song is badass!! Exactly the kind of stuff I love writing

Kind of reminds me of Path of Totality by Korn.

Great music man, thats talent, imagination, skill and patience right there with the outcome being well balanced and not overly driven. Subscribed....
I want to sample the "Hi!" from his intros and throw it in a beat and write guitar and stuff over it XD
Fingerz Trollbot I need that
this lowkey sounds like Bring Me the Horizon's new stuff
Highkey* lmao
+somelifeonaplanet actually it has a lot of djent.
actually it doesn't?? where aha I love Bring Me but it's not progressive at all
more like Asking Alexandria and I See Stars. But stuff like this will come up on my Pandora BMTH station
yeah I can actually see that a bit
Payday: The Heist
oh lord yes
Hey did you forget about him? He is HUGE now and and its been 4 yrs
i love this so much! Dave, please make more of this!
Hey man great job again! Love your production quality! Your MPC, is it running midi? or is it triggering internal samples you made yourself?

Very true, and that's why I still don't like the comment, I was only saying that Austin Cr's counter-argument was ridiculous

try something along the lines of Parkway Drive or For The Fallen Dreams.
not djent though
