  • The Bhutanese traditional bow is a simple bamboo bow made by two staves joined together in the middle. Traditionally, Bhutanese bows are made of bamboo, and arrows from bamboo or reeds, fletched with feather vanes. Arrows may be painted and tipped with metal arrowheads.
    We managed to acquire an authentic Bhutanese bow made by renowned Bhutanese bow maker, Sithar Bachelor ( • The process of making ... ).
    Bow is simple yet efficient. At the recent IAA-Bhutan International Traditional Archery Tournament, all the Bhutanese archer used this type of bow to great effect.

    What a simple and effective bow design. And shot with a real sort of intuitive snapshot. I imagine it would take a lot of shots to really get the feel of where the best draw length would be without overstressing the bow. Great video, thank you.

    I love the elegant simplicity of that bow and the style...minimalism at it's best!!! What draw weight is it?

    • @EurekaArchery
      @EurekaArchery  4 роки тому +3

      its roughly 40-45lbs, quite light for it's class. Usually for competitive purposes, heavier draw weight is used. Commonly between 70-80lbs

    • @galihputrai7882
      @galihputrai7882 4 роки тому +1

      Is that possible to make heavier bow maybe 80lbs or above with that material and design....???

    • @EurekaArchery
      @EurekaArchery  4 роки тому +1

      @@galihputrai7882 cant be certain on that, as most of the heavier versions pull anywhere between 70-80lbs, they didnt measure it to be sure. Purely traditional but surely it hits the 145m target

      @@galihputrai7882 its bamboo native to bhutan. The weather and climate there makes the bamboo very strong and durable

    What a unique design looks like it would take a little bit of getting used to. I bet it takes some time to find out maximum drawl length without doing any damage to the bow but really neat and seems to be very primitive thank you for sharing take care my friend God bless.

      thank you. After a few shots it gets quite easy to use. Still yet to test it at longer distances between 50m-70m

      yes its a primitive bow, but its simple design means during war time the entire country can be armed and mobilized, we didn't stay un colonized by western powers and defeat a dozen Tibetan invasions with toy bows. Also the arrow tip is a conical design, upon entering the body it separates from the arrow and must be dug out, also inside the cone is usually packed either feces or poison ensuring even minor wounds are fatal.

    how did they managed to flatten bamboo without cracking it?

    • @EurekaArchery
      @EurekaArchery  3 роки тому +1

      It is not flattened, it is cut from a big bamboo native to Bhutan

  • @raphlvlogs271

    sounds like it has a light draw weight.

    • @EurekaArchery

      The one in the video is about 45lbs, usually Bhutanese bows are anywhere between 70lbs-105lbs

      @saintgeorgefloyd9488 Рік тому

      light draw weight but easily reaches 500 feet and hit a target the height of your knee. Also its not just draw weight, you can make a bow out of metal and have a draw weight of 500 kilos but if it doesn't transfer energy its useless
