I just had to come back and personally thank you. I followed the instructions in this video down to a T and I got approved in nearly 20 minutes. I am pleasantly stunned that it happened so quickly, especially because there are so many videos on UA-cam about multiple rejections. I couldn't have done it without you! I am so glad that I watched this before I submitted my application. Thank you so, so, so much!
Catherine, This video as well as several of your other videos I have watched have been so helpful. I just want to say how much I appreciate you sharing your knowledge. I wish I would have found you before I began my application process to Outschool or I would have used your link. This video is just what I needed to help me feel more confident. I have taught virtually through my school district as well as on VIPKid but I'm not feeling confident on recording my lesson yet. Thank you again.
I am planning to teach Spanish. The first lesson is always learning basic classroom commands. Could I do is as I do in "brick and mortar" I demonstrate it with TPR and they model it. Then I could share my screen to include a short quiz on the commands they learned. Something simple as matching? Need your advice. I am super nervous, even after teaching many years, I don't know what OUTSCHOOL is expecting.
I no that outschool use zoom for there class how do you use zoom for longer then 30 minutes on the free account or do i have to pay for a zoom subscription ?
This is absolutely an amazing video and SUPER helpful! I just have to add one quick thing: Please slow down! I had to stop your video multiple times to absorb/process what you were saying (even though at times I already knew/did the steps you were referring to). You just spoke SO quickly...keep that mind! Although, overall this is absolutely fantastic! Thank you so much!!
Hi Catherine thanks for the videos they are extremely detailed and helpful. Right now I am teaching adults English on cambly and would like to transition into teaching kids. When I was younger my major was elementary education and I took that for 1 year. My question for you is, do you think even though I changed majors and graduated with a bachelors in communications, do you think I could still get hired for outschool?? I do have a year of after school teaching experience, teaching kids how to behave and do fun activities. Thanks for your time and I hope to hear from you!
Great video! I have a question, is it possible to switch referring mentors? After I added my mentor I realized we weren't a good fit due to this person's lack of availability. If it is possible would I just create a new email for my application or am I just stuck with a mentor who isn't very helpful?
Thank you! If you wanted to switch referral mentors, you would have to create a new account with a new email address. Outschool will not let you change referring teachers.
Hi Catherine, I enjoyed watching your video, thank you for the helpful tips about filling out the application process. I would love to use your referral link!
I absolutely love your videos and watch them all the time!! I was about to submit my application today but I watched with video and feel like I may have missed a few things. I thought that outschool would of wanted full sentence but I’m happy you said to do bullet points because it seems more approachable and easier to read! I’ll be submitting my application tomorrow! Wish me luck!
Catherine, your video is awesome!! I love the lelvel of detail you display throughout the entire video! :-) I had not heard about Canva, and I am looking forward to using it during my lessons!! :-) Thanks for sharing!!
I am interested in moving forward soon. I want to sign up correctly the first time, so I want to have an email dedicated to this platform for the referral. As I'm considering my 'brand', is it acceptable to be Teacher Nickname instead of Teacher Name?
Is bullet point mandatory? I noticed on the outschool application guide they didn't use bullet points. I've heard from teachers who have used it and didn't and both were approved.
It's not necessary to use bullet points but I just think it makes your application look more clear and easy to read. It's completely up to you though :)
.Hi Catherine, it’s very nice to meet you. I have spent this year preparing to teach at out school. I live in Canada, wife, Mom and Nana and I’m ready for this journey. I have been producing a G-rated doll / action figures show for last 2 years, I have posted on my channel 148 episodes. My town has about 500 people, about 100 movie sets. It is the story of the little people of all ages who live work and play in town. I have everything one can imagine I been collecting for 55 years. I am excited to begin the process of designing my curriculum. It would be helpful to have a bullet point list of each step in the curriculum to start. A condensed list to get an overview will give me focus on Where to start, the middle and the end of my application. Seeing each step, building the itinerary will be easier to do knowing the criteria in advance. Thank you for your time and reply.

Thank you so much for all your videos! I applied last week and was accepted within 15 hours 😁 I'm very excited to start teaching!

No disrespect, but yes, please slow down. I am a quick talker too and I had a hard time keeping up without stopping often.
I'm using my phone

So, for the demo class, we have to have working slides all ready to go?
Did you use screencastify to show yourself and the Zoom or just record using the Zoom feature?
Thanks for this video! SO helpful. I plan to apply soon and use your code :)
Can I read books to students with outschool
Hey Catherine, how do you show your slides from canva in your intro video when you apply?

How did you get the circle on the monkeys?
Can you use boom cards instead of google slides?
Super helpful! Thank you!
Amazing thanks for everything
Thanks so much for the video
Thanks for the information. What about appropriate virtual backgrounds?
Hi Mary! I haven't used virtual backgrounds but I'm sure other teachers do :)
Thank you! This was very helpful!
Which is better, Google slides or PowerPoint?
I like using Google Slides but I think either would work :)
This is wonderful and helpful. I'm about to submit my intro video this week. Wish me luck.
Thank you! Good luck! :)
