It’s always such a relief to get a bunch of great information in a short time! I feel like hours have been added to my life. This was perfect. Thank you
Yup - this is the kind of content we need more of. I would add one thing to video - make sure fuel filter isn't clogged. And some generators have tiny little inline filters that slide inside the nipple on the bottom of the fuel tank like on my Champion 3100W inverter generator. (#75537i) They clog easy and you can't even see them until you pull the hose off. They pry out with a little screwdriver or knife.
@@grasshopper3085 Hah. Infomercials are not anywhere near that to the point. They usually spend many minutes showing sad people who are in a bad situation because of their lack of the product being sold, then they go on and on with people talking about how their lives were improved by the product.
I just bought an LPG generator for this exact reason. Mine is for home backup only and could go a long time unused. Plan to run it up often but I wont have petrol in the system for long periods going nasty. My cooking supply already comes from twin 46kg Propane bottles so we always have fuel ready to go. They are quieter and smell less than petrol and diesel units
My Generac starts with the pull rope and runs just fine. I don't run my Honeywell 7500 watt very often, but I do do a maintenance run twice a year. Just yesterday though (Nov 14, 2023) the electric start doesn't work. I've got 12 volts, good gas and good plug, but I'm not getting any turn over at all when I press the start switch. It's like it's got a broken wire somewhere.
If people would add gas stabilizer and start it every 3 to 4 months they would not have problems. I run mine thru about 3 gallons of gas a year by doing this. Haven't had to use it in 4 years due to hurricane power outage. Starts right up every time.
I have a generator which sat for a few years with the same gas. I checked out all the things in this video, put in fresh gas, etc - it starts just fine with a squirt of starting fluid, but won't keep running. It won't start at all with just gas. As far as I can see, there are no blockages in the fuel line. Yet it won't start. For what it's worth, it ran like normal when it was started a few years ago. Only time has passed. Any ideas what to do, or what might be the issue?
I can get it to start with starting fluid but dies. I emptied tank already, put in fresh gas and some sea foam. What do I check next? Long shot but I’m not mechanically inclined.
We have used the ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxOTeIs0vv4_9B5hsmnLsk9r930uDQLu_Y for probably 30 hours with our camper and it’s been great! The noise level is really only noticeable when running the AC and other appliances like the microwave, hair dryer, or coffee pot. It’s not huge like other ones and it has wheels so even at 90lbs, I can move it!
@SicSemperMortemTyrannis?? For me and others like me that really need an explanation, you're saying spray the fuel tank with water from a high pressure garden hose then... There will be water in the fuel tank so, follow that with draining the fuel tank of the water mixed with sediment and allow the fuel tank to dry???
It's amazing how important fresh gas is.. you'd think they couldn't stress that enough when buying anything with a motor! A weed eater, chainsaw.. etc.
That's only getting the engine running side of things! How about the electrical? One of the things that happen to generators is the stator will lose its magnetic field after sitting for long periods of time, and you have to give it a real quick zap from a 12 volt battery if memory serves me correct? Nothing chaps mens ass as bad as getting the engine to start just to find out that he still hasn't gotten the piece of equipment to work properly! And most people don't even know about this and it ends up in the trash or free Craigslist because they don't know about it. 😉
Thank you you just got my generator back to life!! this was very helpful! Now I just need to figure out what is causing my generator not to start with the electric start button... it only starts manually with pulls... Thanks again!
Put some gas preserver in it and it will be ok. Or if you can, use gas without ethanol. Ethanol is a engine killer, specialty 2 strike engines...but affects 4 strokes engines to.
Tell me I'm stupid or my generator doesn't have a choke lever. After about 40 minutes of trying everything I gave up. I'll check if the choke is there but I didn't turn it on

Definitely. 95% of youtubers would stretch this info into a long winded 12-18 min vid.

Thanks for keeping this to the point and not spending 9-minutes with a meaningless opening like most clips!!!
It's almost like an infomercial, straight to the point.

BOOM! Short sweet and to the point. Exactly what I was looking at doing but the quick tutoral makes it so much easier. Thanks for this.
Great quick, direct to the point video. Worked perfectly. Thanks.
Awesome way to get to the point good information I was able to get my generator going in less than an hour following your technique. Thank you.
What these guys have said - no narcissistic preamble, just the facts. 🙏
Wow fast and straight to the point, why cant more videos be like this
short & sweet! good job
Helpful video, thanks
1 minute video and you explained this perfectly. Thumbs up for sure.

Oil ?
Excellent video
How do I get rid of all that gas sediment? Water? Mine has been sitting for years and is barely used. Thanks

NICE, SHORT BUT INFORMATIVE

HOW were you able to _wipe out_ the sediment at the bottom of the gas tank? What did you use to reach inside? thanks
@SicSemperMortemTyrannis ok. thanks

Thanks this worked
And if that don’t work, then you need to pull off the carburetor and clean out the jets. 1st try fresh gas
Great vid

This is how you UA-cam!!!
I did the wd-40 behind the air filter and mine worked right away. Does anyone know why that works? And is that a permanent fix or just temporary?
Haha you're the man
what about oil?

Why does my generator stop after a minute or so after starting. It kinda drives me mad now 💀
Haven't changed its oil!
always run it empty until it's out of fuel it your going to be storing a generator.
Gas!!??
Propane is stable and doesn't gum up the carburetor
Fun fact: gas turns into pee when it gets old!😁

Only thing wrong with this video is that you don't show HOW to do things you mention. You just tell us to do them.
IF YOUR GENERATOR WON'T START IL SEND IT TO YOU TO FIX IT

Ok but this is only half the job, that carburetor will be full of gummy varnished fuel, jets will be clogged
How do you clean the jets

Wd40 doesn’t work
No strat
Gas valve broke (pliers used) has fuel+strong spark= Carb intake explosion on wire crank/pulls! Hunch a valve stuck! Thank you....useless!
