  • Thieves Forest is a sketchy, janky trail at Deer Valley bike park. Thieves Forest starts with really loose sections into tight corners that requires some brake control. Later down the mountain are some faster chunky flow sections. Definitely has a few spots that justify a double black diamond rating and requires some technical MTB Riding. You don't need a downhill bike but it probably wouldn't hurt to have a little more travel. More park city mountain bike videos coming from my road trip in the next few weeks.

I'll post another similar trail next week. Park City is a ton of fun, highly recommend.

GoPro effect visually, but noisewise, that top section sounded really loose and steep. Nice run

There were a few close calls on that run, front tire nearly washed out once. Later that day I ran out of luck with traction, I'll post that video soon.

Any tips on riding a section like at 1:18 where it's a feature that is borderline rollable versus needing a drop without speed? Do you kind of thrust your bike out?? I am always scared my rear won't clear and i'll go OTB

That section was pretty steep and if I went slower and rolled it I would have gone OTB. No thrusting required just let off the brakes and take the drop. The rear suspension handles whatever little bump was there. Does that make any sense?

how much more technical is this trail than Twist & Shout?

It’s loose and steep at the top with some sketchy turns that have drops going into them so you have to commit in a few spots. Definitely a step up from twist and shout but not too crazy.
