It's almost like I have an every day carry pen case depending on which day it is LOL or what my mood is...at least this serves well as my "journaling" case, I need to be better about my every day one to take to work. Collecting is half the fun!!!
Great point regarding using the little pockets of time you have... I realized that as well, because I tend to think I need to set the scene and have a huge block of time to get xyz done, but life doesn't always cooperate in that way. And sometimes the motivation or inspiration isn't there when I do have more time :( I surprised myself in practice, using little pockets of time and actually being very productive. Even if it seems disjointed, it's possible to use those bits of time. I think decision fatigue comes in when it's not clear what you want to do and there are too many options. Even when it comes to hobbies. Whereas if it's clear what the next step is, it's like automatic and you don't have to make a decision at all. For my memory keeping practice, because I've done it soooo many years, it's so easy to print photos, trim, glue, journal, decorate if I please... so it's not like wondering, wait what do I do now...? Not sure if that made sense...lol! So I guess it has to do with planning and being organized, which sometimes seems opposite of creative hobbies. But it's why people like constraints rather than, do whatever you want. Your pencil case rocks! A great find and so affordable! I really like how it opens all the way, so you have all tools visible and you don't have to dig for things. You also have so many cool mini things - my daughter would be drooling for that stationery setup!
For the longest time, I kept telling myself that I needed to block off dedicated chunks of time on the weekend to be able to do my PhD work. But it was so unsustainable. I would be putting off having fun in my personal life or doing things like going to the gym/cooking/cleaning, because I felt like I need time to devote to my work. It took me after my first year here to realize I somehow get MORE work done in 10-15 minutes chunks throughout the week. The secret is to have everything you need on hand, in my case making sure I have uploaded PDFs or Google Docs organized, so when I DO have a few minutes, I can use the time productively. I still haven’t mastered this when it comes to journaling though lol! For stationery-related decision fatigue, I think some of it has to do with the separation of purpose, i.e. “This notebook is for this” “This journal is for that” - I can see why some people fully embrace the one notebook thing and just put ANYTHING in there. I feel like then I could just do what feels right at any given moment using whatever materials I want. But at the same time, then I don’t get to use all the special notebooks and binders that we buy! Gahhh why is it so complicated. And the pencil case has really worked out well, I took it to do some journaling on Tuesday and I didn’t realize how the accordion-style opening made it so much easier to organize and SEE the things inside the case. I was able to do some water coloring!
Loving your video these are the kind I enjoy because I enjoy taking my supplies with me to cafés like Barnes & Noble but my problem is I take too many things and it stresses me out so I enjoy watching what other people take along. Thank you
It can be overwhelming to pack too much! I just try to pick one of thing from each category: one washi tape, one marker, etc. and it helps me manage my cafe journaling time. It's one of my favorite things to go out and do! I need to do it more often lol. Thanks for watching!
What's one way you manage it? I have been trying to rotate things I use and then put them away, take out unused stuff. But it's seems to be causing the same tye of fatigue. Is the solution to just use something for a bit and then give it away or throw it away? Thanks for commenting!
@stationery.shenanigans I know. Nothing seems to work for me. I put away a stash, leave a smaller stash only to find myself with lots of stashes everywhere unable to find what I'm looking for...going from one box to another, drawers, folders, envelopes, plastic cases, ahhhhh!!!! 😡..Needless to say, I end up fatigued and without any desire to do anything. Advise to beginners: do not buy a lot of stickers or stationery. Less is way better 🥰
Yes, I get decision fatigue. And I can never find the perfect every day carry pen case, but I love yours. In the meantime, I've collected a lot. LOL!

@ I’m glad you got some journaling time in! And I think you hit it on the head - how little bits of time can still be very productive!

Definitely yes to decision fatigue

Can regular pencils fit in the Milan colored pencil case?
That's a great question! Yes, it can fit regular pencils. It would come in handy if you wanted to swap some of the colors out.
