Shells are also sold back to people like me who keep hermit crabs. My hobbies primary source of shells are from food and other products. We don't condone taking shells from beaches as some beaches lack enough shells for native wildlife. So next time you're at the beach please leave the shells even if there is an abundance. Some animals require them to live for an example, hermit crabs they require their shell for more than protection they breathe through modified gills which they have to keep moist to help them breathe. They also control the salt level in their shells from the oceans water. Also I ran an adoption program for hermit crabs that was world wide but was virtually connected people who were rehoming and adopting. I can't tell you how many times in a year I would get emails and calls from people saying they brought shells home and now they have a marine crab because they didn't realize they brought home an animal in that shell. That marine crab will have a terrible death if you don't act quickly.. I used to direct people to call their local fish/wildlife they can sometimes help but they can't always so I suggest marine animal pet stores and other local resources for marine animals which was tricky sometimes.

Just wanna say, snail is and invasive species if it's not controlled it can messed up something on the ecosystem. And in my opinion this is smart cuz they are not wasting material all of it is used.

The writing is kind of bad here, but I don't think its deceptive, I think its just easily misunderstand-able. So I'm assuming that the process before hand killed the snails after one mucin extraction, where as now they get a total of four before the snail dies. So 4x the amount of snail slime per batch.
Literally like how Mr Krabs was harvesting the jelly.

A lot of people are talking about how they are still killing the snails, but they now kill less than a third of snails because they can replenish their slime now AND separate snails raised solely for cooking art necessary. More importantly the way they stimulate snails to secure mucus is by letting them feel sexual ecstasy (as mating is one of a few times snails naturally release mucus) so it’s not like they have a bad life
