Live in Portland and there’s no better than Matt’s. EEM is also incredible. Glad you guys made it out here! Botto’s is another good one in PDX. Cheers!
Eem's fried chicken is my death row meal. I'm from Ireland and live in Ireland - my wife is from Portland, everytime we're in PDX we HAVE to go to Eem. The Change of address non-alcoholic coca-cola cocktail changed my life.
CHUDMASTER - recipe / video suggestion. Have you ever pre-cut full slab spare ribs into individual ribs and smoked them like that. 'Twould be an interesting experiment IMHO.
Matts BBQ and Eem are two local favorites, Portland food scene remains fantastic and endures. Try making the white curry burnt ends dish. I've tried with about 90% success in reproducing it. Great dish!
Its work every well together. If you’re in San Antonio. Check out curry boys. They do smoked chicken and a smoked brisket curry. I often do a yellow and red curry smoked brisket at home myself!
I got some from reverend bbq and I could play the accordion with it I've also tried Matt's I didn't care for it really but so far it's the best unless your getting it from a friend's backyard
Em is definitely a place you need to get in early or see if they take reservations. I've tried to go on a couple work trips and as a drop in it's hard unless you're solo and can find a spot at the bar. Don't risk it. Call ahead
I’ve been to this place. It’s really good, on par with any top tier Texas spot. His other restaurants are super hard to get into, wait lists for months.
Great fun watching this!! I'd really like to see you do a Thai take on BBQ when you get home....and also, maybe do Greek Gyro type meat(s) cooked on a spit somehow, without it all falling apart....? Looking forward to ya'lls next adventure.... CC
One of my favorites in Portland (Sellwood area) is Reverend's BBQ. You guys should go check it out! Also if you wanna do Korean BBQ, check out "K-Town Korean BBQ" off SE 82nd ave in Lents neighborhood!
At the risk of being "that guy", if you're going to give a restaurant a Thai name you should really be able to pronounce it. Short vowel, Matt, short vowel! For those that didn't know, the Thai word อิ่ม (written as "eem" here) literally means "full" in the sense of having eaten too much, so it's definitely living up to its name. The food looks f***ing amazing 😍
I just found out from this video that Matt's pits are located about a block from my work. Oh man, if he setup a place to come and grab food to go or something there, the neighborhood would lose their minds.
I live in Portland, one year my work got us a catered meal from Matt's, I was really surprised how good it was. Most BBQ joints in town suck and are overpriced which is the main reason I started getting into doing it myself.
Matt’s is good but Texas bbq is all about BOTTO’S BBQ. Legit Texas bbq don’t need the sauce legit sides. Beans, and New Branfaul Stew is great. If you come back to Portland must try BOTTO’S
You have no idea what you’re talking about. I used to live in Portland. The city has MASSIVE problems so I left. However. Their bbq scene is probably the best outside of Texas. There are 10 top tier places just off the top of my head and this is in a city you can drive through in 15 minutes. Portlands food scene is phenomenal
Checking in from Washington State here. Awesome to see a Ranier beer on this channel! Vitamin R!!!
For the record love the vlog style vids
Fabulosity. The Thai "not fusion" place is fantastic, great looking food.
Live in Portland and there’s no better than Matt’s. EEM is also incredible. Glad you guys made it out here! Botto’s is another good one in PDX. Cheers!
Botto’s is really good
Except Botto's.
God, Eem is SO GOOD. Everything they make is amazing.
Eem's fried chicken is my death row meal. I'm from Ireland and live in Ireland - my wife is from Portland, everytime we're in PDX we HAVE to go to Eem. The Change of address non-alcoholic coca-cola cocktail changed my life.
Grasslands BBQ is a must visit in Oregon for BBQ, but its out in hood river.
Interstellar BBQ FTW!
I visited Matt in February, had the exact same conversation. Super great guys, and loves talking BBQ!
I almost bought Matt's first smoker when he was selling it on facebook way back when, so happy for his success. Awesome video as always!
Every damn time I watch this channel, I get so hungry! That looked phenomenal!!!!!!!!!
Love seeing you here . . . . and the tacos are great too!!
CHUDMASTER - recipe / video suggestion. Have you ever pre-cut full slab spare ribs into individual ribs and smoked them like that. 'Twould be an interesting experiment IMHO.
That entire Mississippi Avenue district is killer, such a cool vibe and great food all up and down it.
Matt’s killing it… looks like a gr8 trip -Str8
Looked amazing and a great flavor combo. Thai stuff is as good as any for flavor. Matt was cool as well. Made everything from nothing ❤
Great video and great road trip. Thanks Brad., - Cheers!
Matts BBQ and Eem are two local favorites, Portland food scene remains fantastic and endures. Try making the white curry burnt ends dish. I've tried with about 90% success in reproducing it. Great dish!
Mixing Thai with BBQ is my dream food!!! PLEASE try to make a video doing a curry/brisket dish!
Its work every well together.
If you’re in San Antonio. Check out curry boys. They do smoked chicken and a smoked brisket curry.
I often do a yellow and red curry smoked brisket at home myself!
Absolutely good spot and very friendly staff. I always get two Dino ribs yum 😋 and 1-2lbs of brisket and burnt ends and Mac.
😮😮😮 Food looks like money is on the way, for your home boy from Portland 😊
Eem is so good! Reverend BBQ is a good Mississippi style BBQ place in Portland Oregon
I got some from reverend bbq and I could play the accordion with it I've also tried Matt's I didn't care for it really but so far it's the best unless your getting it from a friend's backyard
Gotta try Pleasure Burger!!!🔥🍔
Love the vlog style videos. Awesome to see some good Portland spots. Didn’t realize we had any worth a crap in the northwest 😂
Really dude? Even with Portland being one of the best foodie cities in the US. You need to get out more
@@lysolkills99oftherona42 I get out plenty. I’m still yet to have any bbq in the northwest that is worth a damn.
Love the vids, Good looking Meat platter, thanks for sharing. Peace.
Eem is an awesome restaurant! We had a great meal there on our last trip down to Portland.
Heading to Portland next month, thanks for the information.
Em is definitely a place you need to get in early or see if they take reservations. I've tried to go on a couple work trips and as a drop in it's hard unless you're solo and can find a spot at the bar. Don't risk it. Call ahead

Matt has a beautiful system. Cheers
I’ve been to Matt’s bbq and it was amazing!
Great video, really fun watching these travel food videos. You and Bones could be the next, "Anthony Bourdain". No doubt.
We stop by Em every time we go.
No way I missed you being here. That sucks. Hope you had a good time in Portland.
Pumped for my next portland visit!
Bones!!! Can we get Brad to do a Hawaiian style "Podagee" sausage?
Bro, Matts is the bomb! Now try Botto's and Grasslands!
I was there last week. Tried the ribs, brisket and pulled pork sandwiches. Everything was good, but I really liked the ribs!
Great fun watching this!!
I'd really like to see you do a Thai take on BBQ when you get home....and also, maybe do Greek Gyro type meat(s) cooked on a spit somehow, without it all falling apart....?

You should smoke a pork shoulder for pulled lamb pitas! Maybe add some baharat to the rub...make your own pita, sauces...
One of my favorites in Portland (Sellwood area) is Reverend's BBQ. You guys should go check it out! Also if you wanna do Korean BBQ, check out "K-Town Korean BBQ" off SE 82nd ave in Lents neighborhood!
Been to both! quite good. Podnah's pit and Bark city BBQ are #2 and #3 bbq in town imo
Reverend's sucks. Try Botto's.
Try Botto's!! Matt's is great, but Botto is the new best.
I work around the corner. I wish I knew you were there!!
This guy sounds like Charlie from Always Sunny but in the best way possible. Awesome place
Looks like the local bbq scene in portland is not the only thing you were sampling looking at those eyes lol
At the risk of being "that guy", if you're going to give a restaurant a Thai name you should really be able to pronounce it. Short vowel, Matt, short vowel!

Matt's is fantastic. I see they did not get the beef rib. Their pork ribs are HUGE. Loved my time there.
#teambluecheese !
Berst bbq in the area used to be Goldies BBQ in Vancouver now its Daddy D's in woodland or The Smokin Oak
Goldie’s said in The Colombian that he was trying to find a new location so he could reopen.
It’s smoky. It’s coconut. It’s smokonut!
I just found out from this video that Matt's pits are located about a block from my work. Oh man, if he setup a place to come and grab food to go or something there, the neighborhood would lose their minds.
can you and bones do a California bbq tour?!
great video
God I remember before Matt’s blew up and got super expensive 😩
The best BBQ is just over the bridge in Vancouver! Smokin oak!
Awesome
Smokin Oak in vancouver WA!!!
Thanks for the tip. Haven’t been in the downtown area for a while since the new waterfront area opened up.
Nice. Looks Great.

First spot I thought the brisket looked crumbly and dry from being a tad overcooked. Rib looked the same.
I live in Portland, one year my work got us a catered meal from Matt's, I was really surprised how good it was. Most BBQ joints in town suck and are overpriced which is the main reason I started getting into doing it myself.
Matt: please make a pastrami breakfast sandwich....i am not into salty bacon.
I’m still on the search
Guys! Sometimes you got ta' try some Haggis!!! MMM.... MMM... Good.... 🙄😬
Head on over to Pleasure Burger!! Best smash burgers in Portland!
Was good
Smoke some coconut. I wanna see what it's like and how it tastes.
best bbq outside texas is in alabama lol
Best bbq in the area is Daddy D's in Woodland Wa. No hipster bullshit. Good, honest southern food.
Good to know. That's why we don't go to Portland anymore. Always have to put up with the alt left liberal decals/stickers/slogans and groomer flags.
Have you ever been to Taste of Texas ? Houston, I-10West close to Beltway 8 "Best Prime Rib Roast"
Make BBQ butter Chicken.
Tried Smokin' Oak across the river in Vancouver (WA)?
I much prefer the fusion term over authentic.
You should come down to Antarctica and get some REAL BBQ!
Commenting Every video until child does a video on the bbq he uses.
I was worried you came to Portland and didn't try Matt's
Surley it all tastes the same by now ?
UA-cam unsubscribed me. Missed a few weeks, glad to be back.
Go to Bottos bbq
REEEEEeeeeeee!
looks like motel 6 left the light on for ya ..............
not every brisket you eat can be perfectly seasoned and tender
Toilet was hurting that night.
Matt’s is good but Texas bbq is all about BOTTO’S BBQ. Legit Texas bbq don’t need the sauce legit sides. Beans, and New Branfaul Stew is great. If you come back to Portland must try BOTTO’S
2:25 Fake cheese? My understanding is that "high-temp" cheese is just cheese that's been allowed to dry out uncovered in the fridge.
Love your travel vids. Sorry about the obnoxious political people posting cringe replies to a bbq channel lol
Jon lives in Portland lmao
@@petedandrea8463 🤣
@@petedandrea8463 Probably but I don't know if he likes how they still leave the sausage linked together...

Eating meat in veganville!!! Portland and BBQ shouldn't be used in the same sentence!!!

@Fnnggjji And pizza. Portland is one of the top Pizza cities in the US, and that rubs a lot of people the wrong way lol
Veganville? The vast majority of people in Portland eat meat lmao. It's one of the best pizza and BBQ cities in the country.
Nipples protuding, very disrespectful
