Of all the Stamppots we can choose from, Hutspot/ Wortelstamp/ Peestamp is my favourite. Yours looks very tasty, although it's preparation and the amounts and/or omissions is quite different from mine, but unlike some others I'm not here to criticise your take on a classic Dutch dish. I would recommend however that you add some butter and also a bit of heavy cream, along with the milk when mashing it all together.

Real modern Leidse Hutspot must have potatoes, carrots, onions and ``klapstuk (beef)`` all mashed together. For best results you can cook it all in one pot. Also we don`t use gravy (from a packet) but ``jus`` made from the meat juices, butter and water.

wow, that looks delicious, but a bit too complicated for me . I think we will just stick to out simple Malaysian food for our food truck, cos this will be too time consuming for preparation. oh and amazing music, what is that song?
Traditional way is meat boiled with the potatoes and carrots until most of the water is boiled away. Remove meat and mash. No fancy spices, no milk, no butter. The juices from the meat flavor it.
The hutspot is the best I’ve made and so simple. And gluten-free. Just meatballs, a cornstarch-based gravy made with beef Better than Bullion base, boiled over 4 lbs red or gold potatoes and carrots, drained, mashed, 1/2 stick butter, 1 cup milk, salt and pepper.
@@mhie2x when you use 1000 grams (one kilo) of potatoes you use 500 grams (a dutch pound= half kilo) and half a kilo onions, the weight of potatoes equals the weight of the combined veggies. I didn't come up with this, it's an old stew standard, of course you can do it any way you like it, please rename it to avoid confusion, your recipe is not hutspot anymore, its a stamppot like all other 1pan stews
