This ad has a underlying sexist vibe. There is a little beauty and the beast narration as well. Did these two not have an awkward discussion, about help and destination. At least then he would have noticed gender and set into creep mode. The message I received was:this new car is your wing-man, it keeps you safe while you recite the dazed and confused mantra, thus picking up all the clowns you can find in the hopes there will be a bang-able transformation. Overall cringe worthy and possibly aimed at a older generation.
No offence but it seems like you have some serious issues, if you spot all that in this commercial. And may I add that if something is sexist here, it’s more likely your way of thinking. From how you interpreted what’s going on there, it’s quite clear that you see women as nothing but victims who are a helpless prey for men. Meanwhile here in reality, this commercial is just about a car that keeps you safe whenever you’re distracted - for example by an attractive person next to you. (And no, being attracted to somebody is not sexist.)

At the end of the day mercedes thinks the prospective buyer can't keep his stuff together to keep his eyes on the road. They may have a point, given accident stats. Cheerse

In which case people like you would go crazy over the displayed stigma that women can't drive. And indeed that way it would seem like a 1950's commercial where women behave like little stupid clumsy children. That's not the case here. She is the smart one, which is also made clear by her quick and witty reply: "Not to often I hope". And yes, I think most accidents happen due to distraction. May it be because people are attracted to the person next to them, because (a couple of years later) they're in an argument with that person next to them, or just by something else.
