Dude I did it!!! I actually made a bow in my first try somehow lol it pulls 51lbs at 29" and it actually shoots pretty well. I gotta thank you not only for your videos but for responding to other comments I've made. If it wasn't for you and your support I never would have discovered this. I hope you see this man thank you so much!
i love the videos ive been trying to find good videos on making bows and could never find any so i gave up for a few years then so happen to stumble upon your page today. definatly heading to the hardwear store at the end of the week, thanks for the motivation to try something i have always wanted to do.
You should try to make a bow from nothing but steel, string, spine, all of it. That’d be so cool, and hey it’s a great opportunity to colab with Alac Steele
The problem with steel is that it is not very efficient. When bending it absorbs a lot of the energy, and won't shoot the arrow as fast as a wooden bow of the same weight. On the other hand, it can handle a huge amount of stress, so a very short bow can have a very high weight, and a lot of flex.
Got my bow string today in the mail This ia Archer weaponry..Im using (600) Fleetwood arrows it's right on point after using this one I don't think I could use a different brand cuz this will spoil you
I want to see you make a center shot longbow! You’d probably have to make the handle section really wide to drill out a hole large enough for a whisker biscuit
Do you sale your dows.I don't have time to Build one myself As badd as I would like to. Working 7 days a week and 12 hours A-day right now. I'm very impressed with your workmanship and knowledge. I am using a 60 pound draw Recurve baer bow from back in the 60s .
Should have used epoxy or resin for the laminated version. Something designed to be more flexible than wood glue and used two scrap pieces of wood with the diameter you wanted as forming clamps. Kind of like how they make skateboards.
Hi, really enjoyable post as always. I have a question, why is it that you are shooting the arrow to the right of the bow rather than the left, is it due to size? Many thanks 😎🏹🎙✅
I really love your videos on will it bow.... i have an idea.. as a martial artist i have bamboo swords known as shiai for practice and some over time become unserviceable could you take one apart and make a bow out of the bamboo slats iv been playing with that idea but due to working alot i havnt had time to try it
Great video! Could I ask that for a future video, if possible, you review the Mongolian bow from Amazon, if they sell it in the US? In the UK they charge £69 for it, I’m guessing about $85!
Question open to everyone, would like recommendations for a decent first bow in the traditional styles (straight or recurve) either is fine... Brand, poundage etc for an adult male. Preferably 500 Australia dollars or under. Cheers guys!
I like Asiatic horse bows, although I haven't tried much else. There is a website called alibow, or Nomad archery that reportedly sell very high quality asiatic style bows for ~100 dollars. I recommend 35/30 pound just so you're not overbowed (when the bow fatigues you too much that you get bad accuracy, form, etc.). I recommend you get a finger tab and an wrist guard (just until you get good form so you don't slap your wrist with the string anymore) Overall it's largely your preference what type of bow you want. There are modern recurves, asiatic Mongolian style bows, korean bows, yumi bows, takedown bows (they come apart), turkish bows, even long bows that the English used to use. You probably should not go super heavy at first. Also make sure the arrows you get have the correct spine (also known as stiffness) for the amount of pounds you are shooting. There are calculators to make sure you get the right arrow for your bow online.
Interesting that you use Gorilla wood glue. As a builder/remodeler, woodworker, that stuff won't be found in my truck or shop. It just doesn't perform as well as almost any other brand. Titebond, Roo Superbond, Elmer's all outperform it. Check out Project Farm channel and see his tests on wood glue. As a side note, Gorilla brand glue, CA, epoxy, duct tape, whatever, is mediocre.
Huh interesting to hear you say that. The reason I use gorilla glue is because it dries clear. I thought it made an excellent bond. Every bit as good as tightbond 1 and 2, if not better. I use it for rawhide backing and snakeskins. And arrow lashing.
comment that I get your custom made bowstring yesterday day before yesterday at the same time I got this 600 fleetwoods carbon arrows I got to shoot it all yesterday morning if I got for 20 minutes every one of them damn arrows broke on me and I had cardboard has Target did they break so damn easy man I've got to be Aries 500 5 - 5o I've lost them all for a week in the creek in the neighbor I can get well preparing for the price of 6ft Woods fleetwood's
That looks like it'd make a great basis for a tiny hand crossbow.
Was going to say, make a little ratchet system and attach it and you'd have a deadly crossbow
Gah! you beat me to it.
Add a dart board n boom. Drinking game.!
Thanks for taking us along on a truly epic adventure in your bowyer’s studio. Amazing bow, as Lilliputian as it is.

Would 1000% buy one of these
Good work man! That was fun. Thank you.
Nice to see another episode of "Will it bow (sorry -> arrow)" and nice to see you healthy and full of joy. Greetz from overseas ;-)
It sounds exactly like it should when it is shot! Don't kid yourself with a razor sharp tip that would go right into something.
Excellent work!
Awesome work. The first of many arrow build videos. I am looking forward to it all. Keep it up.

Nice bow and arrow
You have a ton of energy ♥️
Nice!
I can’t be the only one that wants to buy this bow on the shop!
I have made 2 small bows, 1 laminated and 1 self bow. They are fun to play with.
My idea for next will it bow is to use rubber bands as a backing because they really stretchy and maybe will work like sinew
great video as always
great job! mini bow pls, with 200 fps!
Wow amazing😉
This is cool, I love these episodes
Wow good video

I've made a bow using steel and a large spring, it's great fun to shoot :D
The problem with steel is that it is not very efficient. When bending it absorbs a lot of the energy, and won't shoot the arrow as fast as a wooden bow of the same weight. On the other hand, it can handle a huge amount of stress, so a very short bow can have a very high weight, and a lot of flex.
finally a good idea. lol pencils with their graphite cores cannot possibly be bow material, but as arrows, pretty decent, they are perfect for the job
Awesome build 💪
Could you take this a step further and do a phantom blade like forearm bow?? Would bei so awesome 😄
You should make a Mongolian horse bow

You should try to make a ram horn bow please and thank you
You should make that a crossbow
i think you can upgrade this tiny bow to a crossbow, it might be easier to hold
I want to see you make a center shot longbow! You’d probably have to make the handle section really wide to drill out a hole large enough for a whisker biscuit
I see a hand held crossbow as it's genesis.

So. does this proves that "the pen[cil] is mightier than the sword"?

Review a Falco bow!
Can you make a bow out off a old desk and a old curtain?
Kramer the arrow to bow ratio looks way off. Why not try carving or sanding the pencil thinner to make a really fast flying arrow?
Please turn it into a tiny Hand Crossbow!!
Hi, really enjoyable post as always. I have a question, why is it that you are shooting the arrow to the right of the bow rather than the left, is it due to size?
Many thanks 😎🏹🎙✅
Could you make a bow out of strips of denim and epoxy?

I have a sammick sage recurve. It was 150 USD and it has worked like a charm for about 4 years now.

I would recommend the black hunter longbow it a great bow. And very affordable. 👍🏼🏹🇺🇸
Imagine if the bully in the back of the classroom had one of these in his desk. I would not like to be his victim nor teacher.
