DUDE I LOVE BERNARD’S GUITAR TONE! I could listen to demos like this all day! I wish Bernard never left! He was absolutely irreplaceable!!!! Sorry Richard.
Absolute masterclass in that hybrid of rhythm and lead playing. Can't stress enough how much skill it takes when you're the only guitarist in a group. Bernard is a genius.
Bernard Butler, May 1994: "When we recorded 'Stay Together' I was stoned 24 hours a day. My dad was dying, I was having a sh1t time. I was getting up, going to see my dad and then coming to the studios at midday, working until midnight. It wasn't nice: my father was dying and I had to make a record. So, whatever I did on 'Stay Together' was the A to Z of the emotions I was experiencing... defiance, loss, a final sigh. It sounds corny but I didn't realise until later that it said something incredibly deep for me. I also felt guilty in case I was using what was happening to sell records."
This is absolutely insane. I love Suede due to my dads love of the band and I love this version. Its amazing and Bernard's guitar skills are out of this world. LOVE
Come to my house tonight, We can be together in the nuclear sky, And we will dance in the poison rain, And we can stay a while in heaven today. Stay together Let's stay, these days are ours. Stay together Two hearts under the skyscrapers. There's a time bomb in the high rise There's a blue suburban dream. Will I see you up in paradise? Or have you come to touch me? Come to my arms tonight, You and me together under electric light. She will dance in the poisoned air, Just you and me forever by the motorway there Stay together Let's stay, these days are ours Stay together Two hearts under the skyscrapers
Suede for me are the best band of the 1990's...Oasis are vastly over rated (although they wrote some amazing stuff) Blur are brilliant...but Suedes Music has just got some extra to it... more colour and slightly more feeling.

I think they've now been using 2 guitarists but they still don't quite get the same feeling as Bernard did with only 1 guitar.
100%. Plus he knows exactly when to deploy the pedals to take things up a notch.

A remarkable and enduring piece of music from what must have been the most trying circumstances

This is definitely the best version ever heard for me. Bernard's guitar playing is fantastic, really.
