  • In this enlightening conversation, Sarina Wiegman offers a profound perspective on what it means to be a successful coach, leader, and advocate for women in football.
This conversation was recorded at a sold out High Performance event in Sarina’s only UK appearance.
Sarina Wiegman is the coach that took the Lionesses to victory at Euro 2020. During this conversation, Sarina takes Jake and Damian through her career and the biggest lessons she has learnt along the way. From cutting her hair off at six years old so she could play football with the boys, to coaching a Euros winning team. They discuss what good leadership looks like and how personal connection with players and mutual understanding is top priority. Sarina offers her one key piece of advice to coaches, parents and leaders.
She delves into the plan she made for the Lionesses that shaped them into a winning team, whilst focusing on her key values; respect, growth and clarity. Not only do they discuss Sarina’s career in football, Jake and Damian also explore the greatest lessons from her personal life, including the benefits of silence and meditation, and her relationship with grief after the loss of her sister.
Sarina’s focus on people and her ability to connect and empower others serve as powerful lessons for anyone seeking to excel in their field and create positive change.

She demonstrates strong values. Her not wanting to divulge her private conversations with the lionesses shows that, despite being the boss she respects them and they respect her.

Serina amazing. She doesn't fully understand how much of a trailblazer she is. Shes just herself, but shes imparting knowledge on the lionesses and fans. Shes a boss.

I watched women's football for the first time ever in July this year knowing little to nothing about it, and it took me about 5 minutes to figure out that Sarina Wiegman is something really special.

Absolutely love Sarina Wiegman. What a leader, what a person…please, please stay with the England Women’s team - the lionesses have found themselves with you as their shining example! Let’s bring the 2027 WWC trophy home for Sarina and bronze (if she’s still playing 😢)

For me, England needs to play like the Barcelona of Guardiola. Zelem and Walsh at the same time (like Xavi and Iniesta). Also Kirby on the middle. Hemp being super fast on the left and Lauren James on the right side (like Messi position).

I unconsciously really needed to watch this Interview, as I always had difficulty accepting Mrs. Wiegman for a normal woman, or a qualified person in our world of Womens Football that we all now love so much..., despite all of her successes. I always looked upon her as a very Stern and Snob type of woman with an angry disdemeaner.... but, oh how wrong I have been. OMG, I now feel deeply ashamed of myself.
Having seen and listened to Sarina here, I am filled with Admiration and Pride for this woman, that has, in so many ways, such a successful and full blooded professional way of going about her job, but at the same time remaining a genuine and very Humble person, with a quaint sense of humour, hidden behind that lovely accent.
Well done "High Performance for conducting this very interesting interview and allowing us to see more of the Real person inside our Champion
    Lionesses Football Manager. Thank you.

Really loved this insight, this episode and Sarina. Such a wonderful episode and production, keep them coming! These in person ones are amazing and please bring them to Cardiff! It'd be great to have you interview individuals like Chris Coleman and what he did for Wales for example here in Wales. Love them! Great work as always.

Inspirational woman and leader for all to learn from. A demonstration of clarity, honesty and integrity at the highest level. The team she has created has grown from strength to strength and I hope many young sports stars, male or female take heed of the words she used. Thoroughly enjoyed listening to this high performance podcast. One of my favourites to date!

I fill sorry for whoever one day will have to take-over the England team from Sarina. When she became England manager, Mary Earps was only the 3rd choice goalkeeper under Phil Neville. Now she is the world's best female goalkeeper. That's why England improved so much under her command.
