cyclists wouldnt need a radar to see where cars are if they actually stuck to the road rulz every body else used, like going going through red lights , not indicating the direction they are turning, if they didnt pull out in front of trucks and cars, look where they are going etc etc etc
Trying to say some drivers don't pass too close or lack attention(looking out for cyclists)? The radar part obviously helps with visibility(light "blinks" etc quicker closer car gets), helps with being more alert of any cars behind and their speed(so can move (/further) to the side if feel needed). Not to mention if cars couldn't afford really any impacts by other vehicles at all like cyclists, I'm sure cars would have a radar like this(or plenty more would). Blatantly cyclist wants to reduce chance/risk of colisions best can...

Certainly, taking into account the cycling culture is essential. Nothing can overcome idiocy, be it on a bicycle or in a car.
