Basically late game is how many accounts ur computer can handle and have 15 accounts with 15 chars to make solo raids and get gold and EQ to sell in bazar Which is time cunsuming af How u get 15 accounts? U make 1 character ignore main quest put irl money pay someone to get u lv90 in LOD ( land of death ) Then u farm or top up nosdollar or go do main quest which gives u almost zero gold and very bad eq, u WILL top up bc best pets aka bush tails are only PAID ONLY on store basically any good pet is ONLY PAY to get, then u get ur char good equipment and start new account lv1 and u get him to lod and get him lv90 and repeat 14 times
Decently well-rounded review, like you say unfortunately all the actual good points of this game are hard-locked toward the end-game, which you don't have a hope in hell of reaching on Valehir to be honest, as you did mention Dragonveil is a new players best bet to get help levelling, you can speedrun the early levels with help from a higher level, level 1 -> 90+30 can be done in a matter of days. The questline is boring, but worse than that it's actually pretty useless after level 55 where you just go to an instance map and kill the same mobs repeatedly until 85, then repeat until champion level 30, 60 and 90 respectively. The same map was copy pasted into 4 different "acts" and is the most efficient way to level so is basically the only thing you do to progress until you're high enough level to do end-game raid content, mind you levelling in this game from the lowest to the highest level with perfect equipment and all the XP boosters will still set you back around a thousand hours, and that's excluding all the equipment you need to get. I haven't mentioned that to get into the end-game raids you most likely will be equipment checked, if it isn't up to standard you won't be invited. This is where the pay-to-win side of things really comes in, +8 equipment is a bare minimum which is borderline mathematically impossible to get without scrolls from the "NosMall" - Cash shop, same thing goes for SP upgrades past a certain level, then there's even more gambling features such as additional perks on your equipment "Shells", stronger elemental fairies that also have their own separate perks. It's a massive rabbithole, but you could play for the next 200 years and never complete your character to the games theoretical limit, and even if you did pay to win you will need to sink tens of thousands to reach anywhere near a capable level to be "PvP" relevant. Unfortunately for a game where I believe the social aspect was done amazingly and I met a ton of friends and a really good concept with the Specialist cards, the content is recycled, the stats are out of hand, it's impossible for players to die due to such large health pools in PvM so they just add anti healing debuffs to every raid and everything is pay-gated or you'll need to sink tens of hundreds of hours a month doing the same combat / raid over and over to generate gold. Great "Nostalgia" but that's all it really is, I couldn't in good conscience recommend it to new players.
NosTale was one of my first MMORPGs alongside LaTale & Pangya during an era where I couldn't speak english because I was between 6-8 years old. Those are the games that made me learn music theory and they helped me getting on the way to become an english teacher. The BGM / OST of these games are part of my life ; some of them will even be played during my wedding or funeral. NosTale was also the beginning of me having a video-game addiction (I'm still going through it) where I used to smash my keyboard or my screen. Thanks for the memories. Thanks for the video, Vagrant. You earned a new follower. Merci !
Fun fact the game full name is actually: The Tale of Nomads of The Silver Spirit" - I don't remember if that full name in the any way related to game lore. Maybe silver spirits are SP? I played this game hard and had few unique mini pets back in the day for example Seraphim as only one person on my server (it was very expensive and rare in my region), I also had SP 1-4 +14/15 and generally spent a lot of money on many thing. The game had loot boxes before it was cool - it was major way of getting Bushtails pets back in the day which I also had almost every type of it. The game is 100% win as there were scrolls to protect EQ and SP while upgrading, getting +10 gear and +15 SP would be impossible without them. Not to mention pets which started to to provide buffs later but with all that game was very addicting, I had a lot of fun in PvP, especially glacier. Raids were also fun and back in the day it was cool that some people were known for doing great runs as some groups would simply fail so the game still had this "community" feel to it and some players were celebrities. I also played Korean version - which was original named "NosTale SE" - SE was for Second Edition because yes - there was other NosTale before that and it was completely different and looked different - I wish I had achieved screenshots form forum post long time ago. Other thing is that you could choose ANY SP on level 30, so you could get Wild Keeper/Dark Gunner or Berserker at level 30 and there was no Job level required. Also the difference was that SP Points were hard to get, so you would keep using SP on glacier as killing monsters would regenerate that and you would be out of SP while in main land. Generally Korean version had few things done differently. There was also US version that closed in 2009-2011 and it wasn't by GameForge.
I played since 2009, the Specialist Card mechanic is definitely the best aspect of the game. However the new content that 's been coming out is completely recycled, I believe the developers no longer have any passion to do something new and exciting, so i'd recommend finding another game as there's nothing to look forward to but a repetitive end-game with no interesting side-content.
Well, it was very nice game, my lovely one. Probably worth trying but definetly isn't good game for being "your mmo" rather play something to experience, the community is very nice i found very nice ppl i ocasionaly talk, i found them 15 years ago and every like 5 years we give it a good run.
The one thing these RO-likes have in common are the lack of animated frames in their battle animations. This lack of visual polish is a bigger turn off than the clunky combat or the long grinds. The only one that beats RO in that department is Trickster Online. IMO it had the potential to surpass RO but was ruined by one of the worst cash shops in K-MMO history, which is saying a lot.
Do you play Nostale?
yes try played
Yes i did when i was kid but then i returned on Flyff ! But i remember playing it with nostalgia :)
good to play as a 2nd game, not nolifing it

Play it since 2006 ... Best Game... So many systems to make more dmg. So it never gets boring if you learn more about it. My absolute favorite game

This game looks fun
Great video 🎉
This reminds you of the FF job system? But no montion of RO.
I literally say RO in the beginning. In terms of job switching in RO, never played RO past the beginning area.
The best mmo content out here.
so nostalgic
