I remember seeing an interview Barbara Walters did with Richard Pryor🙏🏾🙏🏾 years ago and she asked him how does he feel about people saying Eddie Murphy is the future of comedy and the best comedian out and Richard said he didn't like it because he felt he was still the best. I think Richard Pryor had respect for Eddie but deep down he was kinda tight because Eddie was younger and had the game on smash....Plus Eddie became a super mega star at a young age and surpassed Richard as far as fame. But both comedians are legends and need to be respected for their genius!

@@dwayneturner9395So you are telling me with a straight face that Eddie Murphy's body of work compares to Richard Pryor's body of work from a comedic standpoint? Eddie definitely produced better movies but when it comes to pure standup comedy Eddie is not even in the same building as Richard. Give me a break..
This guy is confused. Eddie said on the show, that "someone else told him (Eddie), that Richard was behaving that way." Eddie never witnessed it himself. Eddie also said, he (Eddie) wasn't told this information until waaaaaaay after. On the show, Eddie also said how Richard would know he's inside performing. Did this guy watch the show (comedian in cars), and hear his own version of what was spoken. This guy is too old. You know the experiment when someone says something, then it gets passed on person by person, and then what was originally said has completely changed...this is a perfect example. Then this nigga goes on to say Eddie didn't like him (Richard) or disrespect Richard, I wasn't there, but that has to be bullshit. It's not logical for someone (Eddie) to have a person (Richard) as their idol (Richard)and then disrespect him/her (Richard). Then he goes on to speak for Eddie, as if he knows what Eddie was thinking or wanting at that time. He (this old guy) said that Eddie didn't know Richard, only the stage Richard, but yet he (this old mf) is speaking on Eddie, like he knows Eddie, and Eddie thoughts and feelings. Harlem Nights: Director-Eddie Murphy Writer-Eddie Murphy Executive producer (money person)-Eddie Murphy Main actor-Eddie Murphy... If Eddie wanted to be in a scene, he (Eddie) could and would have put himself in the scene, with the so-called fun. If Eddie didn't like Richard, then why would Eddie put Richard in a movie with him. This old muthafuckin nigga is delusional. Now I don't believe anything he have said in past interviews. He is living in his own reality.

Honestly, why is it necessary to divulge details of these people lives. At the end of the day what's the point of it all. Plus I don't think Murphy was disrespectful in the interview with Seinfeld. He just gave it from his perspective. One thing I've learned is that comedians are probably the most sensitive and insecure of any entertainment medium. Which is quite ironic when your success is predicated on your ability to be self deprecated at the expense of others amusement.
Im a comic. And yes we may be the most sensitive. But its almost a pre-requisite to be a stand up. We take that pain and let it out on stage and hope we get acceptance and acknowledgement on stage for our talents that we dont get in regular life

Honestly we are ALL here out of curiousity about certain details of celebrities lives that have not been revealed, definitely the great Richard Pryor. That's why we clicked and listen and why Rashon Khan is here selling true and exaggerated tales because we are interested. I believe there was competition, respect & envy by both Murphy and Pryor in their observation of each other. Murphy of course idolized Pryor and if you don't at least take notes from his stand-up and film roles, you are not learning from the best in business. Pryor very likely enjoyed Murphy's rise in the early 80's but it happening so fast on a large scale may have bothered Pryor considering how long & hard it took him especially for major starring roles Murphy got (48 Hours, Trading Places, Beverly Hills Cop, etc.). The Murphy rise also coincided with Pryor's deep dive into substance abuse from setting himself on fire and Hollywood picking their new 'favroite negro' in Eddie.

I must admit, I was taken aback by Eddie’s comment when I watched that episode of CICGC. I wondered why he never said this to anybody before and now he’s saying it to Jerry. I felt that if that were true, Charlie Murphy would have been said something about it! I still like Eddie, always will, but I too felt that was a bs move! If that was true, why say it now? Naw, I don’t believe this shit for one second. Eddie Murphy had major love for Richard Pryor being a comic god but I can see Richard Pryor feeling some type of way about the next big comic that was taking over at that time Eddie Murphy.
Everyday folk deal with interpretation and perception of stories everyday. What's dangerous about stories involving historical figures, is that those 2 sides are battling to write History and affect legacy. For all we know, this is all another misunderstanding being judged as disrespect or negativity. Eddie shrinks when given praise, visibly. My guess is he didn't come down because he was nervous to face his idol. But who knows, im only guessing too
It seems when great artists pass their heyday, they assume the new generation of greats don't like them if they don't give them a role or kiss their arse 24/7. The best way to pay homage to someone is to prolong their art. Eddie recently did it for Rudy Ray Moore by making Dolomite and his family still threw a hissy fit. He did it for Pryor whenever he got on a stage. Give it 30 years and someone from Eddie's entourage will say Eddie felt disrespected by Kevin Hart.
Eddie Murphy NEVER disrespected Richard Pryor. He totally idolized him, always spoke huge of him, you can even see it when he tells the story of Bill Cosby and Richard Pryor's advice in Raw. He later found out Pryor didn't like him, and it was PROBABLY jealousy. He blamed Eddie fro not being as huge as he was, and the truth is EVERY comedian goes out of fashion , out of time. So this guy is full of shit.

But both comedians are legends and need to be respected for their genius!
true dat. it's also a fact that while pryor was/is one of the best, if not the best, eddie has made more money and has been wise with his wealth. dude does not drink or do drugs. i'm pretty sure some people feel a way about that. but you cannot blame eddie for other people's failings. celebrity, superstars or not.

Harlem Nights:
Director-Eddie Murphy
Writer-Eddie Murphy
Executive producer (money person)-Eddie Murphy
Main actor-Eddie Murphy...
If Eddie wanted to be in a scene, he (Eddie) could and would have put himself in the scene, with the so-called fun. If Eddie didn't like Richard, then why would Eddie put Richard in a movie with him.

@@OmarScruggs I can respect that. However I hate that it divide the fraternity of comedians. I believe Hollywood exploits y'all in the name of competition and causes toxic relationships between fellow comics.

Regardless of how many times you may see someone on TV, never forget, you don’t know them.

You'd have to be Robin Harris George carlin Bernie Mac or Sam kinison to even think about adding to that level of humor eddie was showing respect he was a kid and he did believe and them that movie was not a favor to anyone they all knew it was special so what it makes sense that Eddie and Pryor tell 2 different stories they were brilliant minds maybe theh didnt get along it's ok they dam sure worked together and respected each other also Eddie kept Redd Foxx on t.v with Della Reese until he died! and paid for his funeral as well, not this guy
How long is this interview 😂🤣😅😂😅🤣 when does it end
Is the book out???
I feel you but if Richard was so tough to have found Eddie to check him about what he SAID why didn’t he find PAUL Mooney and deal with him about what you said he DID to Richards son ? Ijs. Everybody’s a tough guy with words !!
He said rich caught on fire b4 he could handle Mooney
@@wiltchamb8789 what about after the fire? why didn't this dude do something since he knew rich put it out there like that? nevermind the $, just whoop Mooney's behind for doing that mess. We dont play like that where im from bruh nor did we play like that back in the day. He didn't catch on fire the same day he found out about it. what was he waiting for to confront mooney? mess with mine , I will find you the same day !!!
Burned, or not, he would not have been friends with Paul, especially, if he were to the point of paying someone a million to kill him ..yet, he ends up burglary buddies with him in the film Bustin Loose, he works with him on a KIDS show, "Pryor's Place" in 84, and they're friends, into the 90s ...stop trying to do damage control, Paul haters ..smh
To invite someone and legendary to your home and you make him wait? That’s some weak lsh. Major disrespectful. Ewww
Every interview i seen eddie Murphy ALWAYS paid homage to Richard Pryor and redd Foxx and he created harlem nights so they all could work together while everyone was still alive...so him hating on Pryor is a far stretch from Wat i have seen
I’ve been saying I don’t Trust Eddie Murphy at all. He’s connected to some really creepy shady high up executives in Hollywood
old people can clout chase too
2:19
"At one time Richard Pryor was trying to be like Bill Cosby"
Godfrey said the exact same thing in a Vlad interview. I never knew that.
Eddie started out on tv being clean like Cosby, he had to. He eventually became who he was.
This mans Beard bothers me
I've watched enough scooby doo to know when someone is in disguise, pull off that mask and its steve Harvey under it.
Starting to lose respect for this chatty patty dude. AND he used to bodyguard for eddie also. Eddie spoke about Richard respectfully always. Plus he said on many interviews, the stuff he shot between takes should've been the movie..what da hell is rahson talking about?!
A lot of people don't realize Eddie behind the scenes can be like a lot of actors in Hollyweird condescending Jamie Foxx said the same thing about working with Eddie in Dreamgirls he got a huge ego issue where he can be the only star in the movie
Another old fool trying to capitalize on eddie’s fame.ya’ll going about it the wrong way.we all have to look up to someone at some point .do we have to follow them to their graves?move on brother
Dude went from being a bodyguard to Wendy Williams.
Straight messy. 😂
After I saw the second part of this interview, him saying that Paul Mooney never wrote for Richard Pryor, I was through with him. This just popped on automatically & I had to hear this.
Whatever, Man.
Only for the Richard Pryor show
Mooney never wrote Pryors stand up. Only his show
The irony that he says the line about Richard being dead so why the need to 'disrespect' 🙄
Sounds like dude really don't like Eddie vs all the other crap he said.
Eddie got some life style issues that main man might not like !
thats not a lie richard pryor said it himself you can find it in a interview pryor said felt threatened by eddie and pryors wife (at the time) would try to console him be saying "you been number 1 for a long time, its time to let someone else be"
it Wasn’t “shook”, it Was more Intimidation of His career.
