Third time I've watched this since you posted it, love this. I especially appreciated you listing the clubs with potential handicap user. Well done yet again fellas!
Great comparison test again boys, all the clubs performing well. The stand alone winner would have to be ZX7 when it comes down to value for the dollar. Thanks to Srixon for offering a top line product at a realistic price
I’ve had my set for about a month now. Played z785’s last year and the zx7’s are noticeable more forgiving. But not in a bad way. They’re the exact same shape. Just the tungsten in the long irons makes them so much better
Seriously, this is EASILY the best channel for golf gearheads. I've LEARNED so much about golf gear and the game from this channel. You guys are the best. Would have liked for you to throw a little more love towards Mizuno irons, especially in this video, but its all good. Matt was absolute MONEY with the JPX! I love my Forged JPX 919s. :-P
Kudos guys. This is the testing method we’ve been waiting for, testers who pull 7 irons from different sets with varying lofts and then expect to offer a fair view of tech can’t possibly when lofts are different.
They specifically note that only good swings and well struck shots were left in to ensure the performance of the club was compared from one to another, rather than outliers being included that could throw out the comparison. Watch the recent european tour video of RMcI and JS trying to make a hole in one and you'll see that even tour pro's miss greens on with a wedge/9 iron.. especially noting that they are literally hitting the same shot over and over again. Just goes to show that what we see on TV/youtube is often just the highlights and top performers for the week on the tour and selected shots from tests (which is completely fine).
@@ryanokeefe12 It's a game of misses. So misses and forgiveness is very important. But so is performance on nutted shots. How consistent they are in spin and carry. Dispersion is usually swing related.
fantastic test guys, i am up in the air between the ZX7, T100 and JPX Tour for this season, and it was great to see them in action to show that you cant go wrong with any, but fantastic to hear Matts realistic comments on how they felt in ease to hit as well as he is a very consistent ball striker so if he noticed this, then others may even notice it more....only been able to hit the T100 so far and loved the feel, in the next couple of weeks ill hit the other 2 and make a decision, after seeing this though it may be harder than i thought....thanks again for all you do!!
I gotta say, looking at Mattyboi's swing today compared to 2-3 years ago, you couldn't even tell it was the same golfer. Today's mechanics look so much more fluid. Amazing Matty!
Loved this video. Really useful to see the recommended hc range at the back end, and brought it to life with the actual hole rather than range. Great work as always, but really appreciated those 2 additions in particular!
seeing a visual and performance difference between stock ZX7's and 2 degree weak spec for the same irons would be absolutely awesome you guys! you gotta do it!! thanks
Don't be scared to make the leap into a Player's Cavity Back if you're a confident iron player! I've been gaming the JPX 921 SEL (G-6i tour and 4i-5i forged) and they're absolutely incredible. Turf interaction and overall feel is so pure... something that cannot be explained, only felt. Plenty forgiving for anybody who is an above average ball striker.
Great insight lads.upgrading the irons and really like the look of the Mizuno, Miura and T100 but after seeing this I think the Srixon is gonna be in the mix for my iron fit.the sound of the Miura is definitely appealing too.
@@clubchampionmedia that’s unfortunate. I bought some Wilson Staff Blades (even though the traditional view would be that I’m nowhere near good enough to play blades) based largely on a realization after watching TXG a lot, that a thinner sole might benefit me. My very first round I effortlessly played the best round of my life and I’m really interested in hearing about some of their other iron offerings because the traditional view that I’m not good enough for blades is true in the sense that when I don’t middle them, I get punished on distance.
@@sterlingjuarez honestly man I think the saying "your not good enough for blades" is a bunch of BS. You gotta try them before you say you can't hit them. I play mizuno blades and I hit them great. I hit them better then titlest t300 irons actually
I have the ZX7 and they are great. The Nippon 120 S Shafts. Feel and forgiveness for a players iron is amazing. And there is power under the hood. All the clubs in the test did great. I noticed that the ZX7 was higher up on the spin compared to all the reviews that said they were low. They also had the least deviation in spin. That means something i am sure. Thanks for this video. I was hoping to see Srixon lap the field and I think they would if forgiveness was tested but... it is nice to see that they all are making good clubs. I can say this for the Srixons. They are the only set of irons I have purchased new that I didn't feel the need to take the shafts out and check the alignment. I am going to though when I get time.
I am interested to see how the adjustment to 30 degrees changed the bounce. The ZX7 6i is 28 degrees with a wider sole?? Also, I play the JPX 900 tours and the set is traditional with the 6i being 30 degrees. I wonder if weakening the club by 2 degrees gave it 2 degrees more bounce and changed the mass which made it easier to hit? I used to play Titleist and was really looking at the Titleist ts100, but this has made me think of the 100-s and bending them 2 degrees?? Thoughts? I will look into this. :) DONE!! Here is a quote from Tom Wishon - For the vast majority of golfers and turf conditions, a 2* increase in the sole angle is really not going to affect anything because it is very slight. Only if the turf is really firm would this little of a bounce increase cause much of a change in the way the sole feels as it travels through the ground. TOM
Great timing with the video I have an iron fitting here in a few weeks. Super stoked to try out the zx5s and 7s. Especially as someone whose strike miss is toeside I love the idea of having the tungsten out on the toe
Love to see Srixon doing so well this year. Always made good clubs but feel they have really established themselves this year as a top contender in all categories this year.
Thanks guys! Very nice. I love my 921’s. Same test hollow heads would be sweet as well. Keep up the great work and content for us junkies. It’s always the best.

That was awesome guys. I'm pretty impressed with the Srixon and the Mizuno. I'll be checking out the Mizuno JPX921 however. Great testing thank you for all you're doing for our sport.
I just got fitted the other day and was looking at both but went with Srixon bc they were just a tad more forgiving for my swing, slightly better spin and a couple yards longer. Just make sure you get the correct shaft for the club.
I went to my Golf pro, told him to give me an MP-18 SC head, and then we'll find a shaft for me. It's nice to know, that honestly the cavities all perform very similiary, and that I was free to choose based on looks :)
I greatly enjoyed watching this. it illustrates how subtle in many ways the differences are between them when all adjustable variables are normalized. I think a great follow-up video to this would be to hit these exact same clubs at their factory spec lofts and lies. I'd enjoy seeing how they perform as designed in a comparison!
Very interesting. Though I am a leftie but not with the game of Matt, I recently took out onto the course for five consecutive rounds on five consecutive days just my driver and putter and 7 irons in the following each with graphite shafts, hitting same shots on the fairway, in light rough, onto greens with respective 7 irons: sx7; jpx 921 sel/tour; cobra forged tec; p770; p7mc. Unfortunately not the titleist nor Miera though visited Miura’s plant in Japan. My findings for me in order of clear preference was: jpx921; p7mc (very similar to my p760); sx7; p770; cobra forged tec. The jpx had for me the most accurate results, preferred flight and best feel on balance. Having gamed the Srixon z565 years back was hoping the srixon would come out best but did not find it so. Probably equally to do with different graphite shafts in each.
Love to see a video on a stronger lofted set like the zx7, where you de loft the 8 iron by 2 degrees, put in a 7 iron length shaft and change the lie to 7 iron. To see if people could ignore the number stamping. A picker may do this to reduce bounce, or someone who digs may do the opposite and make a 6 more like a 7.
Recently just hit all of these in my fitting. JPX sel tour is what I went with, felt the best for me. MC was hot off the face but didn’t give me as good of feedback as the mizuno.

My thoughts exactly. The OEM offerings, within a specific category, are so similar in performance that it comes down to a personal nuanced preference in look and 'feel'.
I wish I had the ability to swing so effortlessly and strike it so pure like Matt does. I have such an aggressive swing and really need to because I'm not that tall. What I wouldn't give to be able to carry a 7 iron 200 with a smooth consistent strike like that.
