    What was the filling you used for the mountains?
    I keep my village up a few weeks after Christmas. It is so relaxing to watch what I’ve created after all other holiday decorations have been removed. I watched you video multiple times to add this to my village next year. You are awesome!

    Wonderful job! I know its a lot of work, but I'm sure it's fun. Even the song is very important for Christmas! Thanks for the video!

    Very well done. And insightful. What are the red balls used on the Christmas tree?

    What size are the boards and size of the curves? I want to try to talk my husband into helping build it this Christmas but I want to start planning it now.

    • @kevinvikter1007
      @kevinvikter1007  8 років тому

      Hi!! sorry for not answering before... most of the curves are O36 fast track which usually are included in the starter sets. The boards are 4 feet long by 2 feet wide. Some are smaller to fit the size of the room. Good luck!

    Are the holes in the plaster cloth still visible when it dries?? If so, can you paint on it with white paint?? Thanks!

    • @kevinvikter1007
      @kevinvikter1007  7 років тому

      Yan Abela No, the holes should disapear if applied correctly. you should use several layers. At least 2. Rub the plaster cloth thoroughly while wet so they will dissapear.

    Hi ~ I just got a O Guage Fastrack Hogwarts Express for my Halloween Village ~ Im so excited to find your video ...I was wondering how to to make the mtn tunnels to go behind my town. This helps. One question ~ do your mountains lift up for maintenance ..I was thinking making them module somehow? Thx (you can view my Halloween and Xmas villages on my YT page ...they didn't have the train set then tho, just a trolley

      Hi! yes the mountains lift up for putting away the village after the holidays. Just build everything over a one piece foamboard and after its done, cut the board along the contour of the mountain with a sharp blade so you wont tear up the material too much. Another good idea is to cut a window on the back of the mountains to access the tunnels in case a train gets derrailed.

      Kevin Vikter I loved it. What kind of cloth did you put over the newspaper., was it plasta cloth? And that was all on the paper before painting it. Thanks so much, God Bless !!!!

    • @kevinvikter1007
      @kevinvikter1007  7 років тому

      Vilma Lampp yes its called plaster cloth from woodland scenics. Its the same as regular casting cloth (used for healing fractured bones) but its lighter. Yes cover everything with it, then paint... thanks for your comments.

    What a GREAT DISPLAY!!! I LOVE IT!! Do you leave this up all year? If not what do you do about the river/ lake you made??

    • @kevinvikter1007
      @kevinvikter1007  8 років тому

      Hello. thanks for your comments. No, we put it away after the holidays. the river was carved into a one piece foamoard and then filled with "easy water" a product from woodland scenics, very recomendable product. The whole foamboard around the river is permanently glued to the 2' by 4' base table. Just fold the table's legs and put it away.

    Hi Kevin, do you or do you know of anyone who would put one together for a company if we supply all the pieces?

  • @SillyGoose2024

    is this is HO Gauge? I have never seen such drastic curves on an HO scale. Are there special track pieces that can make curves more drastic?

    • @SillyGoose2024
      @SillyGoose2024 7 років тому

      nevermind i saw your earlier comment last year - 036 fast track. will 036 fast track work with HO gauge? because from the video is looks like the same track as my HO

    • @kevinvikter1007
      @kevinvikter1007  7 років тому

      Silly Goose Hi. No. this track is O gauge. HO is supposed to mean half O. so its half the size. they are not compatible. But think HO is a good track size for a layout. Ours has already taken over the living room and part of the dining room. Although Ogauge is sturdier for little kids.

    There are several things for diy railroad layout construction
    Find a suitable set of plans online
    Find a colleague who wants to build one too so you have another person to help you
    (I learned these and why they work from Jareks Hobby Club website )
