Phil taught me how to play chess in Halifax in 2009 and then we went to the beach and he read war and peace. Him and Calvin johnson were staying at my house and we went for dinner with Julie doiron. THis was after Sappyfest.
I'm almost 60 and have been a singer, songwriter and music aficionado almost my entire life. This is one of the most breathtaking pieces of music/art I've ever encountered. If you see this Phil, bravo, you are truly brilliant
I strongly feel like from 44:57 on is quite literally one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard and seen in my entire life and my mind is blown as to how this is a relatively niche band in the grand scheme of things. I am privileged to have had this piece of art find its way into my life.
It is so cool seeing this again! I’m so glad you got the chat in there as well! I feel so lucky having experienced this live and it’s great to be able to rewatch it! Thank you so much for sharing this!
I SAW PHIL ELVERUM IN THE WOODS AND HE PLAYED 5 CHORDS FOR 7 MINUTES

I SAW STEREOLAB IN BELLINGHAM AND THEY PLAYED ONE CHORD FOR FIFTEEN MINUTES.
Phil is a bad ass man. Definitely the real deal. Props to the dude helping him realize this difficult performance. No easy task mind you.
31:20 Love this moment. It looks like he's leaning to the left to write in the chat.
