- This is just a quick overview of the SVBONY 165 40mm Guide scope. Which actually has a lot of other uses too besides just guiding. This is a fast f4 like most guide scopes in its range though this on his built like a tank.

Just bought an askar 103 and am looking for a guide scope next, perfect timing. Thanks for all the great info. It's good to see new videos from you, sir.
Glad I could help
Nice Ben, good new way to think about guide scope 👍
Good practical advice, thanks!!
Glad it was helpful!
I really like reviews on smaller pieces of equipment like this. Normally guidescopes are purchased based on vibes and brand recognition.
Cool, thanks!
I've been using this scope exactly as you mentioned in the video. I needed to PA when trying to use my 8" SCT. ASIAIR does not plate solve at 2000mm focal length. Now o used it for both the SCT and my Askar V. 👍
Hi Ben, got 1 of these for my SV122, thanks to you! And now have more ways to use it! Glad you better!!
Glad I could help!
I have the same guide scope on my mount and it works well.
Great video, as usual, I am just about to drop a review on the Askar 40mm FMA180 pro, for a guide and wide field imaging scope, but before I bought I looked at this little scope….so it’s nice to see this review..👍🏻
Fantastic little guide 'scope. Coincidentally, after my last astro session I decided a new guide 'scope was needed for my new 8" RC 'scope with 1624mm FL, so this guide 'scope looks a great solution, I'll just have to check if it's capable of guiding such a long FL 'scope first. Thanks as always for the great content my friend!
Wes, England.
I would recommend using a 2x Barlow with it. It will work better with that longer FL.
Very cool
Found you lol I was asking for info on this one!
Nice guide scope.
Thanks!
It’s confusing that SVBony calls their 40mm f4 guide scope AND their 30mm f4 guide scope by the SV165.
Yes it is.
Can I ask something outside of this topic?
Have you tried the seestar s50? Is it worth the small price, for the end results? 🤔 Thinking about getting it, next time I get a bit too much money 😅
I do have videos about it.
Do you run a UV/IR cut filter in your guide scope setup?
No but I do often run a IR filter for muggy nights. I did a video about that a few years ago.
