The town of Protaras and its surroundings is very popular. Especially Fig Tree Bay!
In this video, we fly over the main coastline of Protaras and show you the beaches of the hotels located in Fig Tree Bay.
Fig Tree Bay is a sandy beach in the resort of Protaras, Cyprus. In 2011, TripAdvisor declared it to be the third best beach in Europe. According to the Big 7 Travel it is the third best beach in the world for 2019.
The sandy beach stretches for 500m and the waters are clean enough for the beach to have been awarded blue flag designation. The beach, which runs the length of its own cove, takes its name from the fig trees located close to the coast.
There is an uninhabited islet easily reached by swimming through the shallow waters, the location of which provides a good shelter for the rest of the beach. The islet is covered with low level local vegetation. In contrast to other local beaches, such as Nissi, Fig Tree Bay has become a popular destination for families.

Had holiday in Silver Sands hotel many moons ago. Met and talked with the owner who was a dentist in Famagusta until forced to flee the Turkish invasion.
He also owned other hotels on the island.
Interesting meeting. I think he is a famous person in Protaras now)

I remember this beach with 3 hotels.I still visit cyprus regulary this beach is now an eye sore too many hotels for a reliitavely small beach.

Wish they wouldn’t spoil these resorts by building these huge hotel blocks. They should have a restriction like they do in parts of Greece where they can’t go higher than two or three storeys.
Protaras and the east/south-east coastal area of Cyprus has the longest Summer in the entire Mediterranean.
Yes! I agree with you. They wouldn't. Yes you can swim in Protaras in October and... maybe in the beginning of November what is impossible in Crete, Greece and Italy!

The hotels are empty or completely closed. The crowds on the beaches are Cypriots who are happy to be alone but they don't know anything about Covid. Never ever I would like to be there.
You are right. The crowds are local people... But the hotels are opening now and I hope everything will be OK soon... and You will come to have a holiday !!
