I spoke to the developer at Hamvention. I was really impressed with his vision of how he's going to continue to develop the app. Really nice young guy.
Thanks for the feedback Randy! CAT control is on the short term roadmap. V1 will be a basic implementation that can read frequency/mode from the radio, likely based on hamlib. We'll be then expanding to more advanced CAT/rig control later in 2024.
Having POTA in the software is good. However there are a couple of issues with this! You would need to carry a laptop with you to the site. Plus you would need to have access to the net. Not all POTA sites would have access, especially some of the more remote ones. What would help would be off line logging via a mobile and upload once you have access to the net.
There is no rig control, right? I automatically log FT-8 on my N3FJP ACL and to eQSL and QRZ. Would I just add that ACL ADIF to this program on a regular basis?
After watching this video I tried the free version. It has none integration with the station so all have to be filled in manually. I am used to work with HRD and it has connectivity with my radio, dxcluster, qrz logbook, LOTW, etc...
Hi. I just got my tyt th9800 and built an inverted v antenna resonating on 26.125 MHz. I'm in WA. Could you give a shout on that fr so that I could see it this radio even works. Thanks
This is absolutely perfectly timed! Just got my UK Foundation license a few *days* ago, now going through setting up the hardware and software in particular logging software. 73 de M7VOK
Thank you so much! We are designing our logger to be the easiest logger for beginners, while having advanced and innovative features at the same time. You should be able to sign up and get logging in no time!
We are always going to provide a free version. A development project like this is extremely expensive, so we are working to create a commercial model that will sustain the app for the next decade. A lot of times, new ham radio apps come along, and then they end up dying out or not getting the support they need because they can no longer pay for the operations. We are NOT making any money on this project in the current state. We're primarily funding it off of Ham Radio Prep course sales. Early adopters are joining and it is helping with the costs. But this is a long term plan and we believe it is worth it!
I'd hope that in the future something like that could work for me logging POTA/WWFF/SOTA etc. As a hunter I currently log to QRZ, but I have to change the latitude and longitude of the other operator to the lat/lon of the park or summit. It'd be great if I could just add the ID of the activation site and have it automatically grab the right coords.
Our app grabs the location of the park automatically, so you don't have to update the location or grid. Just enter the park number. Our mobile app is going into beta this week and will also be available with POTA features and offline support!
@@DavidFindlayQLD if you're activating, click "Start a POTA Activation" and the onboarding flow will set the park number. You can then edit it in the logging template in the top bar. If you're hunting, you can enter the park number in "Their QTH"
there is a new future of ham logging software out weekly it seems. I am currently using QRZ with auto logging through wsjtx/grid tracker, and hamrs for pota. other than FT8 and pota I am not logging at all.
Hello Hayden, well timed! I have been hand-logging ONLY since getting my US Technician & General level licenses. My platform is Apple Mac using IOS, but, I can use a Windows emulator. Until now, I have seen little benefit in having an electronic log. Gonna try to get out of my personal rut. BTW, I used Ham Radio Prep, and passed both tests handily. Good stuff. KQ4IXD
Great video on a cool project! The UI and the leaderboards stuff is really cool. It looks like a ton of work has gone into developing the platform. I'd love to try it but I can't set up a station at home and don't have internet where I usually operate. Hopefully they release a cut down version you can run locally then sync seamlessly when you get home without having to mess about with uploading log files from another program. A local version would also make it easier to integrate stuff like cat control.
Thanks for the feedback, and ABSOLUTELY! We're going to be taking the same build available on the web and making a desktop downloadable version with offline support.
Trusting any internet server with your logs is stupid. They all eventually fail. No site is forever. Keep a paper logbook, you remember the contact more, add personal remarks etc. And your relatives can look back in later years, admire your handwriting, contacts and get a better understanding of what your hobby meant to you. People place too much trust in flaky start-ups and internet business. Even QRZ logbook is useless if you change callsign. I think people's mentality has to go back 50 years for us to evolve as a species. We've become braindead stupid.
The amount of pissing and moaning about this on here is phenomenal. At least someone has actually thought about the user interface. Subscription based websites are the norm now computer resources on the internet arent free.
Thank you! In fact, we're still operating at a loss. The subscription revenue helps but ultimately we're trying to fit this into a commercial model that can sustain this app at a FAIR price for what we do. If we want great apps, we need to support them.
Game changer? No it is not. It's lipstick on a pig. Sure, it looks fancy but it lacks in so many areas; no CAT control for a start, It also has problems adding up your QSO counts. I uploaded 887 contacts to it only to be told by they system that my last contact was 15 years ago. When I flipped the date order on the contact listing it told me my last QSO was 10 days ago (which was correct). It's not ready for prime time by a long way.
I looked have it as free version, but as you have to pay to upload a decent size log i have not used it yet as my main log is QRZ and probably always will be.

Finally! A ham radio site that doesn't look like it was developed in 1995!!
We're glad you think so! A modern interface design is critical for usability. Fun fact - our designer is a licensed ham in Indonesia!
