  • Your stand fan or table fan still new,only a few months or a couple of years old but suddenly its stop working.You have done some checking by trying to spin the fan blade by hand and its seem to be normal and for the worse case scenario, you had sent its for repair but they return it back to you ...by saying "SORRY"

    *Bought this fan for the summer and so far it works great **Fastly.Cool** ! It's very quiet and not too loud, but also acts as a "white noise" when I go to sleep. No complaints from me!*

    I have an industrial fan that cost a lot of money, so, I set myself to fix it, and it took me very little time instead of buying another one looking at your example, thank you Kluangman, it was fun.

    We love this - its small and ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxlmCcACUKg6nJKF53Fy9qNgPlHio1azE1 light so you can carry it around to another room with ease. My son can operate the switch super easy with the 3-speeds. And the openings around the fan are not wide enough for tiny fingers which is perfect if you have young ones in the house . We would definitely purchase this again.

    I have a tip for you guys as to how to fix the thermal fuse. Don't snip it off since it's already an open circuit and will do no harm. Buy a whole bunch of spare thermal fuses from Ali Express (in case you have other devices and you fix funs for a living) and just solder two long wires to the two terminals of the blown fuse. Then attach the thermal fuse to the other ends of these wires without applying heat crimping is preferred. Wrap fuse in Kapton tape or insert in silicon heat resistant tube and attach it near the coils It does not have to be at the same original place as long as it can sense the heat from the coils.

      It's pretty hard to overheat an induction motor in the first place, so it makes me wonder what tripped the thermal. These motors need regular oiling. They run cool and quiet when oiled and they don't oil them enough when new, in my opinion. This seems to be the best protection from overheating.

  • @karworks
    @karworks 3 роки тому +7

    You will find out that this is a fix on most any motor. They all have this thermal fuse in the windings. You can buy these thermal fuses at an Appliance store near you. You could just solder the two wires together but you won't have any protection if a short happens in the future, so it is best to buy the fuse and do it the right way!

    The removed small component is a thermal fuse. It protects the circuit from overheating. You can short circuit it during the trouble shooting, but you need to replace it if is faulty. You cannot just remove it, doing that you will remove the fire protection!

    Thank you so much, but you didn't say what was that small transistor type component which was blown off and for what purpose it was provided,now you removed it are two wires with coil wires shortened. Will it be good without that small component.

    • @brentpenner
      @brentpenner 3 роки тому +1

      The component remove is the thermal fuse. It will run but if it overheats that safety will not be there. The fan could OVERHEAT... and it could start a FIRE. The fact that the fuse was blown means the fan has likely overheated before. You should find out why the fuse was blown and fix that first. Better to replace the fuse than to short it. (Sorting it is reasonable for troubleshooting if that is the problem but not a permanent solution.)

    My fan blades were obstructed from spinning for a period of time while I was out and the room, and now the fan doesn't work in the slightest. Will this video help with this, or is there another video I could watch? Is there any hope for my fan?

      Try to spin the fan by hand and if it's spin freely .. yes this video can't help, but if the fan kind of heavy to spin, there are another video visit ua-cam.com/video/Jow6QN93DXI/v-deo.html
      and also visit Table fan malfunction, diagnosis and repair ua-cam.com/video/_b_1Em0dpZs/v-deo.html
      but if you saw that the coil were already burnt , there is no way you can repair it's

    ihave found most 18 fans run hot due to high capacitor uf..for ex 2.5 uf if you replace it with a 2.0 uf the fan runs very well does not overspeed or heatup…

    Hi, I check the capacitor it seems to be good, I checked the coil it seems to be good too, what else might be bad?

      Frank Fam try to check the power cord from speed selector to power plug and check your incoming power socket looking for broken wire and lastly insert the power plug, turn on and measure incoming voltage from before the speed selector between L and N and you must have a reading 230V or 110V depending which were used in your country ...

    Its intresting i never seen before.. But the working style almost very pure technology.. No suitable tool for repairing the unit especially The Wire Cutter.. The Soldering Iron almost cracked its Nib.. Because its switched too long and burnt into Charcoal.. Its must be Switch off first before start to heat for Soldering.. The Soldering Iron alway be place into its Stand every time for Safety and away from heated and burnt.. The
    Scissor is not suitable for
    Cutting the Wire.. In repairing the Electric and Electronic part, the Digital Multimeter is recomended.. Alright !

    Hey! I got a problem with my fan. It slowly started to stop functioning. Like it's "battery" was draining and then it completely stopped and won't go on anymore. Any suggestion of what it could be? I have opened it and checked for wire damages and if there's something preventing it to spin. Thanks.

    The shaft of rotor freely rotates when plugged off. But as electricity is connected, it tightens and make a sound(i.e. sound of not being able to rotate). Do you have any idea about the problem? Please share if any. And thanks for your video.
