I love Guerlain "Bois Mysterieux". It was a recent discovery for me and it instantly became a top-five fragrance for me. In fact, it might be in a three-way tie for first for me with "Jubilation XXV Man" and V Canto "Mea Culpa". Thanks for pointing out that both "Bois Mysterieux" and "Jubilation XXV Man" both use bay leaves as an ingredient. For me, "Bois Mysterieux" is mostly about real cedar in combination with spices (e.g. cumin and bay leaves and/or laurel), patchouli, and myrrh. At first, I thought it was somewhat challenging because of the cumin, but I'm very glad to have it my collection. "Bois Mysterieux", Amouage "Imitation Woman", "Journey Man", and "Brioni For Men EDP Intense" were some of my favorite fragrance discoveries of this year, especially the "Bois Mysterieux".
Nearly 750 vids in your first 2 years!!! 😲 That's gotta be a record right? If not in # of vids, in recording time for sure. Stunning achievement Ramsey. 🏅
One of my top 3. I was so shook up upon the rumor of discontinuation, that I secured a bottle for myself. I kept procrastinating. Before that, I seldom used my 15ml of Songe D'un Bois D'Eté.
Great timing, just received my bottle of Bois Mysterieux today after sampling it for a while! Love the sillage on this one, very unique smell. One of my favorites for fall season.
Vintage Guerlains will be the best for a long, long time.... Jacques and Jean Paul created such a good perfumes. Thank you Ramsey for mentioning this house. I feel better whenever someone talk about the best French perfume house. Scent Of The Night : Amouage - Interlude Woman
Great video and keep up the great work. Completely agree about the scents. It got me out of a dark place and thats how I started collecting just over a year and half ago. And through that journey I have had the pleasure of being part of an amazing community here in Oz and I get to enjoy the wonderful channels such as yours Ramsey❤😊🙌 Thank you for your passion 😊
Love this house, and love this fragrance! I will wear this tomorrow! Believe it or not, it was my first Guerlain fragrance, and it amplified my love for leather. When I went to Paris last month, the people working at the Guerlain boutique on Champs Elysees told me this will get discontinued, so, if y'all love this, back it up while it's here. I love the laurels in this with the myrrh and the leather, it's truly amazing. It's spicy, can get sweaty, and it's woody and aromatic, I could talk about this for a whole day. It is just one of the scents that made me even more passionate about this industry. Cheers, Ram!
The first 3 minutes of this video are spot on about fragrance and how it fits into our personal lives. Great video. Encens Mythique is my fav from that line. Santal Royal is a good offering too.
I love that old Guerlain bottle. Also, I understand your thoughts on fragrance helping us through our range of moods. Thank you for all the research you do and your passion for fragrance!
Thank you Ramsey. I've been following you for a while and I have accumulated a great collection of perfumes thanks to your Ramblings. Vintage Guerlains - Jicky. L'Heure bleu. Mitsuko. and also Oscar De LR. Ted Lapidus and just picked up samples of Salvador Dali. All at very reasonable prices on eBay. I am thoroughly enjoying this journey and look forward to your videos and respect your knowledge and understanding of fragrances. Best wishes from UK.
Well said sometimes I have a rough day and I just wanna come home to my collection it brings me peace the scents will never do u wrong and I forgot where I heard this but happiness can be broken down to just havin something to look forward 2 and for theses scents bring me joy everyday btw wore that cuir de russie today it performed all day and I enjoyed every second of it ….every waft brought a smile thank god for these bottles they are older than us but yet still bring us life good day ram 🐏
This is THE house I've wanted to hear you talk about. Guerlain has the reputation amongst the masses of being the best in Europe. Like you said, however, it's changed since LVMH.
Great description of the scent. When I first tried it years ago I was totally turned off, it was way too sweaty and BO like for me. Fast forward to today, I guess my nose has matured because I just got a bottle and it's one of my favorites.
Nice one Rams, I have the Bee Orange style bottle and it’s my favorite in that line of which I have in my collection, don’t have the Ambergris/ Amber discontinued one sadly, which would probably be right up my alley, anyways great job I really appreciate your dedication and passion and indeed it’s so important to have outlets and hobbies to stave off life’s shit shoveling moments , way too many of them bastard encounters, cheers man ✌️🙏👍
Ramsey, Thanks for putting the spotlight on this fragrance. From my understanding the original name of fragrance translates to *DREAMING OF WOODS IN SUMMER Like you,I love the house if Guerlain. @@RamseytheRam Ramsey, Just a correction. The French word *SONGE from what I've learned does mean to dream, but it's more like daydreaming. Like someone talking to you and your body is there but your mind & thoughts are somewhere else. *Daydreaming of wood in summer. 👍
Powerful stuff. A guilty pleasure and favorite of mine. For such a deep spicy woody and complex scent, my wife tolerates it and she hates almost everything haha.
Just picked up the last bottle I knew was sitting behind the counter in a local UK dept. store. 20% off too. It was on my wants list for a while. Could've got it half price last year from discounters. Seems to be gone from them now. Pleased to have it.
Good morning from Korea Ramsey. You nailed it with these change of names and uptick in pricing. Mr Micheal Jordan team has done the same thing for the last 15 years. I’m 46 and growing up $120 would have gotten you a pair of quality Jordan’s. Now at $200 plus with shite material and nick names I no longer chase the continued re releases of the brand. Many brands are moving towards it sadly. I’m like you frags renamed with a taxable price is a easy pass!!! SOTD: Ensar Oud Suriranka 😊
Bois Mysterieux definitely is in my top 5 for sure. Too bad its discontinued. They could have had it in a Private Collection in limited edition or amounts. They didn't have to discontinue it. 4711 edc is not discontinued. And thats really old. My neighbor liked Bois Mysterieux on me. She said it was a spicy scent.
@@RamseytheRam your right about the Oud Accord. It's not listed in the notes and as a wearer you don't smell it on yourself. But others smell this Oud Accord. It's really a Masterpiece imo and strangly it was made in the early 2010's which is an exception in the Fragrance Industry

Yes Ram. Yes to this. I appreciate your nose and appreciate you not wanting to compare. Everyone says they smell the same, not to me. I’ve had one on each arm a few times before I sold the Mysterieux version. Are they the same fragrance, yes. Is it the same formula and quality of ingredients. To my nose, no. Bois Mysterieux smells flatter not as vividly rendered, different in the drydown. I do think Guerlain’s practice is sound to keep the frag similar, give you a bit more and economize it. But in a case such as this when I wear it three times a year I’ll take the formula that smells best and pay for it.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and feelings Ram. I got into fragrances during Covid and it helped me out of a deep depression. Sadness is a blessing as feeling it allows us to experience the full spectrum of life. I’d rather feel sad than numb. ❤ 🫂
