It had over 100 horsepower less than the strongest competition (C63 AMG) and weighed with penalty ballast about 200 kg more than the M3 and about 150 kg more than the C63. In addition, it had a raised rear suspension to worsen handling and narrower tires than the competition. And still on a track with a lot of corners it simply dominated! This clearly shows the advantage of quattro on the track. And you can't blame the driver because in this series everyone was a professional driver.

I have one of these, it’s a perfect platform for tuning. It’s not very exciting (apart from the engine) in stock, but once you stiffen the chassis with the braces, throw ball joints + Ohlins R&T in the suspension + sway bars - it becomes a proper body that matches the drivetrain (+ all the necessary drivetrain inserts/mounts). Also, JHM Stage 2 is a must for this engine! The only real downside is its weight and its distribution. Macan is built on this platform and they’re still selling it - isn’t it a succuss?! And thanks to the genius of Walter de Silve this b8 design is timeless.

Only thing i need to point is that this rs5 has pretty "weird" config, i mean it misses B&O audio, it has only 1-zone AC instead of typicall 3-zone, no dead field sensors on mirrors etc., so someone went pretty poor when buying this one becouse most of s/rs have almost every option available
Configuration is not just about the cost. Some people just want an engine and a steering wheel, and are annoyed by things they don’t use. And I totally get it.

I have the same car model and you are right it has all features like B&O, dead field sensors, cruise control with radar etc. I also upgraded multimedia system with panoramic touch screen and carplay. With modded exhaust and some tasteful visual tuning this car is really nice.
The RS5 could be optioned with the black optic package, so the black accents could very well be factory -- very common options for cars painted black from the factory.
Almost pulled the trigger in buying one until i quoted on doing the timing chain service. Price of a small hatch to have it done. Maybe one day when im a big boy

However, if i was ever to buy a vag, it would only be n/a and a relatively old model like this. Their turbo engines burn oil like potato fryers, totally unreliable
This is a B8.5. Funny though every B9 review seems to make mention of and in many cases say the B8/8.5 was better. I own a modified B8.5 and have driven the B9..sure its .4 seconds to 100 kmh quicker and "newer" but really the B8/8.5 is perfect, Italian Designed AWD coupe with driver focused interior and a high revving N/A V8. What more do you need.

Yes, same engine block as R8 v10 version but with chopped two cylinders. R8 v8 was different engine with less power and lower rpm 🦧
