Hi Lance, this is not something you want to read; I have a bad feeling that the chain retainer clip went on the wrong way around (although it's difficult to see). My understanding is that the head points towards the gear that pulls.
I've done the same thing 😂 put the chain retainer wrong way even though I was thinking it should be the other way but I thought you can't be wrong 😃🤣 so it's timing cover off again 😅
Good day Lance , I took the 5 bolts off the cam sprocket on my TEF today , lost the settings as I hadn’t realised multiple settings , could you please advise me how to get it back to the correct position please ? Thanks again , Ted
I would have to look in the manual it has been that long since I did one. There is a free manual in my website www.queenslandtractorspares.com.au in the technical section.
Hi lance, im fitting a new timing chain to my ted 20 tomorrow, the crank sprocket been touched since i took the cam sprocket off, however i didnt put witness marks on the cam sprocket. There is a witness mark etched into the crank pulley but im concerned that ive messed the timing up. Any help?
I think you put the chain link clip on the wrong way round, the closed end should face the direction of rotation ,the way it is now could result in the spring leg catching and removing the clip, good luck Chris B.
I would need to go back and have a look, it is running well still. Sometimes when filming the end result on the video may not be the actual end result if I have had to do a few takes.
@@BundyBearsShed i am sure filming and fitting are a very big problem, it must be like trying to talk to someone while you are putting something back together, looking at your re assembly of the timing cover video I can see that if the "mushroom" was sticking in the centre shaft hole that could cause my problem, a video is worth 2 thousand words! Chris B.
Hi Lance, I’m hoping to can help me. I’m looking at purchasing a TEA20 but it has a broken timing chain and timing case cover. My question is it worth repairing or will the pistons have bent the valves? TIA
So my John Deere has an idler gear rather than a chain. If I set the piston at TDC and set the valves at .010 (or 0) my idler gear should just slide in and mesh nicely? Maybe? possibly? Then with my rotor pointing at #1 piston it should slide in nicely as well? Perhaps? Welders playing mechanics!!!

Yes thats what I did I think, I will have to run through now and have a look, lol.
Yep on back to front. Not a big worry though but I might pop the cover its only a pulley and a few bolts.

Yes I think there is a mark. Download the manual from my QTS website to be sure. queenslandtractorspares.com.au/technical/
Thanks for the help lance, fitted new belt today, top side is pretty tight but underside is sagging, thinking its because the sprockets aren't new!

Valve will probably be ok as they didnt lift that much really
Bundy Bears Shed Thank you for the advice
I am puzzled about the crank shaft shims. What about the end play in the crank?
Thanks for the vids
This is not adjusting crank end float we did it with the crank thrust washers, this is just to align the sprockets on the crank front snout.

For yours you need a steel ruler which welders will have for sure. Just align the marks through the center of the crank and pop the idler in.
That’s almost to easy Lance. Thanks
Good video,
I really enjoyed it
Thank you
Glad you enjoyed it
Dommage que l'application n'est pas en français 😢😢😢😢😢
