There’s something about season 7, it just doesn’t feel like the tns. It feels really childish, a vibe which I didn’t get from season 1-3 and even season 6. It’s really disappointing, especially after season 6 where tns was getting really good again. I also liked that there was character development of people like richelle and ozzy but season 7 just seems to chuck all of this development away. And where are the dances? And the dancers??
It is disappointing because ozzy was my favorite character and had one of the best character development in season 6 but that just all got thrown out for this alwful thing with richell.I just hope he gets better and be friend with heath. The best thing would be a trio with ozzy heath and izzy

Video suggestion- you could pick your own a-troupe if u were a studio head. Pick from all the dancers that have been on the next step band choose based on their dance strength and personalities. Love ur vids lately x

I think it's cause we still saw her and they rehearsed in studio for most of the season, if she'd properly left and we didn't see her, it would've had a different effect

I didn't mind the Regionals loss at the end, as it wouldn't be good if they won everything all the time, but the season could have at least had nice storylines and well-developed characters. The Bangers and Mashups plot was inserted just because they had no faith in the new characters and instead decided to heavily rely on the old ones. And don't even get me started on the romance. There was too much romance for the new characters and not enough dance. And don't even get me started on the James-Riley-Alfie love triangle. This just decimated the character of Riley, who used to be level-headed, kind and understanding. In Season 4, she became cringy with how she always relied on someone else to help her. Kissing, Alfie, who was her student, when she had a boyfriend was ludicrous, even for Season 4 Riley. However, I don't blame Brittany Raymond (her actress) for this, I think it's just the way they chose to write her in Season 4. By the way, the writing has been all over the place on the show.

I’m really not a latroy fan. He could only do street dance and he couldn’t do anything else, and even his street wasn’t super impressive. There were so many stronger dancers that season who didn’t get in, and I think they should have instead of latroy. There are some other dancers with the same situation (west, Sloan etc.) but they did still have some technical ability, while latroy didn’t have any
As ever, I agree with pretty much everything - I initially hoped Season 2 would be higher but that was more or less based entirely on their chemistry in the later episodes, so I think I’m OK with where they are - and everything else makes perfect sense 😄 I completely agree with Season 6 being at the top, but I just wanted to say that I thought everyone’s chemistry was really great at the start of Season 7 - very specifically in The Comeback Kid, there was this moment I had when I really just felt like the whole ‘family’ thing was an accurate way to describe them again, in a way I don’t think it has been since before S3. They like to toss that word around a lot in reference to all the A-Troupes, and I felt it in S1 and S2, and not so much from then on - but S7’s just had these moments for me, where I’ve got this strong feeling of ‘yep, they’re a family again’. Even with Lily there and Noah and Jacquie gone, it just felt like they were the most connected they’ve been in a long time - and The Comeback Kid’s literally become of my favourite ever episodes as a result. It’s all got a little rocky since then, which isn’t ideal - but if I thought they connected that well onscreen once before this season, I can see it happening again - so fingers crossed :) ... oh, and I have nothing to say in regards to the captions. There’s nothing to justify there. I don’t know who’s in charge of those things, but I’d really like a word with them.... And access to their editing software...
Omg, the beginning and the S7 Talking Heads scenes you put in were so funny they made my day!! Btw, it is actually "You win some, you lose some". I fully agree with your ranking and wouldn't change a thing. Here is my ranking of the A-Troupes, from worst to best. Worst - Season 4 In Season 4, I don't feel like the characters had that much chemistry. They just had broken-up groups of friendships, like the 0% Club and Latroy and Sloane. Their dancing was great but some of the dancers, like Latroy and Sloane, weren't as versatile. 6th Place - Season 5 This A-Troupe was better than Season 5, and you could tell that they were pretty connected, otherwise, they wouldn't have survived the merge. But I don't feel like they were as much of a family as some of the other A-Troupes. The dancing was great this season. Almost every dancer impressed me, but some of the dancers, such as Josh, Ozzy and Kingston, lacked a bit of versatility. 5th Place - Season 7 There was so much drama this season that I really don't think the chemistry is that great. There has been so much fighting this season that I literally can't count how many friendships and relationships have been ruined. However, the dancing is really great this season and I feel like everyone has a lot of versatility and they're all at the same level. 4th Place - Season 1 The dancers had a lot of chemistry this season and you could tell everyone belonged. Sure, in the beginning, Emily was threatening to kick Michelle out and stuff, but after that had been worked out, they were a family. They worked to help get Chloe back and they didn't want to lose anyone. West even said that if you took out anyone, it wouldn't work. The dancing was pretty great but there were a few weaker dancers, such as Emily, Stephanie and Tiffany. But everyone was striving to learn new styles and overall, this A-Troupe was pretty great. 3rd Place - Season 2 This A-Troupe really was a family and you could tell from their semifinal Nationals dance that they all belonged. However, I agree that bringing in Thalia, Hunter and Amanda pulled back the chemistry a bit, but not majorly. All the dancers were pretty great but some of them were weaker, like Emily and Hunter, no offence to them. Everyone was pretty versatile and did lots of new styles. It was definitely better than Season 4. 2nd Place - Season 3 This A-Troupe was so strong and you could tell everyone had matured and they were such a family. Everyone's dancing improved so much, however, I think bringing in Cierra and Max pulled back the chemistry a bit, just like in Season 2. You could see some people doing new styles and new friendships forming, so yeah, overall, this season was pretty great. 1st Place - Season 6 This A-Troupe was just amazing and they were all connected. All the dancers cared about each other, no one was left out and you could see this on stage during their dances. Just like some of the other seasons, you could see people doing styles they normally wouldn't do. The dancing was amazing this season and everyone improved their versatility. Richelle and Noah did a ballet dance, Richelle learned to use her emotion, the girls did a hip hop dance, Ozzy improved his dancing . . . The list goes on and on. That's my ranking of the A-Troupes. Remember that it's just my opinion and if you disagree, that's fine but please don't hate on me. Btw Alishea, I'm so excited to see your blue hair in hopefully your next video! One of the problems that season 3 had with chemistry was that most of the team neglected Noah. I felt like Cierra and James were the only ones that paid attention to him.

I've never really seen her as an amazing dancer or a strong one either (no offense Alexandra). I think it would be cool if you did one of these as videos: ●Ranking dance battles (I'm not sure if there are enough to make a video on this though) ●Listing the saddest moments (I cried when Chloe left because of money isssues in s1) ●Or just listing your favourite moments. Wait, if the next step won't send B-troupe to the national competition, absolut will take acronation? Then they will need Amy, and if she won't come back then it will move to Ankor - Miss Angela's studio? And then Lily will join them ?? (I think it makes no sense if they skip this information)
I agree 99% with this video The only thing I would change is I'd put an extra mark on season 3's chemistry for Noah. He got moved up from J-troupe to A-troupe and although overseen at first, the scenes with Noah and Eldon's duet/battle, the blindfolded dance at Internationals and his duet with Cierra progressed his chemistry with A-troupe and fitting in. I especially thought the Noah and Eldon scenes were amazing as that's the start if the best dancer on A-troupe passing down his legacy to someone on basically the same level as him which progressed the story in later seasons such as Noah getting dance captain in season 5, him getting picked for qualifiers in season 4, him literally being a part of every dance at regionals in season 6 etc and it gave him a storyline til the very end when they've shown that he's outgrown TNS. But that's just my personal opinion.
Video Suggestion: Can you do ranking tns hairstyles like for characters on multiple seasons ranking their hairstyles in talking heads like Riley’s bob compared to long hair and Piper’s straight hair etc.

Yes totally agree with all your rankings especially Season 6! I honestly have the exact same feeling when it comes to Season 7 because it just feels very different to past Seasons and I can see that the writers are starting to lose ideas and Honestly I hate to say this but I can see The Next Step coming to an end after Season 7 or Maybe Season 8.
I don’t think Stephanie had the same level of dancing as the other dancers in season 3 that is the only thing I didn’t agree. The video was really good and totally agree in season 6 being in first place ❤️

Great Vid ! Omg When The Laughing Came On My Sound Was On The Highest Volume And My Sister Actually Started Laughing And She Doesn't Even Watch The Next Step . Omg That Was So Funny !
For me this was a really great commentary and seems to tell the the story of TNS on two eras; First off, if you look at seasons 1-3 you see a close knit community group faced with an outsider (Michelle obvs!) who becomes slowly one of them, that leads to more and more joining was once watertight. As a consequence, the family aspect gets jettisoned, dramas increase and because, not in spite of, the shared difficulties there is then a massive increase in talent. Secondly, in my opinion after season 3 the production team lost steam and faith in their show and characters - this led to fallings out and cheatings that weren't plausible (Jiley for example) or even necessary to ramp up insider tensions as this lot had already acheived all they could and it's only by Season 6 that the return of we're all in this togetherness returns with the apex of the Emily-Michelle friendship which is truly the glue that held these guys together so again their talent and interactions feel the norm and not to suit the plot of the week. In season 7 its back to dramas again as the focus for the show is beginning to wane again and I hope can be won back in 7B.

one of my favourite characters were max as even though i think he was very underrated and didn’t get nearly enough screen time for what was meant to be a “main” character when he did have his talking heads segment they were so funny! “i like milk”, “i like square dancing”, “i’m a sucker for love” but always in such a serious tone
I got my best friend to watch The Next Step for the first time during quarantine... And she tells me she ships Ralfie. I virtually slapped her through the phone 😂😂😂😂
Season 2 was the absolute best in my opinion, I loved how the boy band had a new friend which was hunter and they all got along well it also really showed the rivalry between elite and tns
I mean quite a few of the actors are from CDC including Richelle, Noah and Presley. It’s the studio of the actor playing Lucian. Elite and TNS are both fictional.

Can we just discuss how Jake should have gotten into A-Troupe already from season one. And that he kept auditioning until season four (I think) , and still didn't get in even though he was better than a lot of the dancers that got in to A-Troupe.
Wait.. did Emily not get back together with/apologise to Hunter after breaking up with him? If so, it slipped by me. It doesn't make sense that she wouldn't patch things up with him since they got along so well...
Completely agree that season 6 is the best a troupe! I felt like everyone genuinely liked each other: richelle was friends with Noah, who was friends with summer, who was friends with piper, who was friends with Finn, who was friends with jacquie, who was friends with kenzie, who was friends with kingston, who was friends with ozzy, who was friends with Henry. I feel like the behind the scenes also helped with this, because we knew that the cast loved being with each other. Overall, best season in my opinion! 🤗
I would rank Season 5 lower because there were 2 Next steps, and they were rivals. They had a dance battle and Tns East won. After, Kingston and Ozzy discovered that Elliot was a professional dancer and that he shouldn't be joining a dance troupe. Then, Tns West believed that they won because Elliot got kicked out the studio and that since he was on the dance their win didn't count. After them fighting about which team should go to Reigonals, Miss Kate said that no team will be going to Reigonals. Then, Amy and Piper decided to merge Tns West and East. They created a dance to show that they can actual work together. Which is really pointless because they didn't go to Reigonals that season, so all the work they've done just went in the drain. Season 5 was pointless to me overall..
6:01-6:37 killed me XD. By the way I know it's hard to believe, but there's a saved Season 7QandA story on The Next Step's Instagram, and they said they think they hit the same number of dances as Season 6. Like you said, there hasn't been many dances so I'm thinking that we're going to get more in Season 7B because otherwise I'm just confused lol.

Omg, the beginning and the S7 Talking Heads scenes you put in were so funny they made my day!! Btw, it is actually "You win some, you lose some". I fully agree with your ranking and wouldn't change a thing. Here is my ranking of the A-Troupes, from worst to best.
Worst - Season 4
In Season 4, I don't feel like the characters had that much chemistry. They just had broken-up groups of friendships, like the 0% Club and Latroy and Sloane. Their dancing was great but some of the dancers, like Latroy and Sloane, weren't as versatile.
6th Place - Season 5
This A-Troupe was better than Season 5, and you could tell that they were pretty connected, otherwise, they wouldn't have survived the merge. But I don't feel like they were as much of a family as some of the other A-Troupes. The dancing was great this season. Almost every dancer impressed me, but some of the dancers, such as Josh, Ozzy and Kingston, lacked a bit of versatility.
5th Place - Season 7
There was so much drama this season that I really don't think the chemistry is that great. There has been so much fighting this season that I literally can't count how many friendships and relationships have been ruined. However, the dancing is really great this season and I feel like everyone has a lot of versatility and they're all at the same level.
4th Place - Season 1
The dancers had a lot of chemistry this season and you could tell everyone belonged. Sure, in the beginning, Emily was threatening to kick Michelle out and stuff, but after that had been worked out, they were a family. They worked to help get Chloe back and they didn't want to lose anyone. West even said that if you took out anyone, it wouldn't work. The dancing was pretty great but there were a few weaker dancers, such as Emily, Stephanie and Tiffany. But everyone was striving to learn new styles and overall, this A-Troupe was pretty great.
3rd Place - Season 2
This A-Troupe really was a family and you could tell from their semifinal Nationals dance that they all belonged. However, I agree that bringing in Thalia, Hunter and Amanda pulled back the chemistry a bit, but not majorly. All the dancers were pretty great but some of them were weaker, like Emily and Hunter, no offence to them. Everyone was pretty versatile and did lots of new styles. It was definitely better than Season 4.
2nd Place - Season 3
This A-Troupe was so strong and you could tell everyone had matured and they were such a family. Everyone's dancing improved so much, however, I think bringing in Cierra and Max pulled back the chemistry a bit, just like in Season 2. You could see some people doing new styles and new friendships forming, so yeah, overall, this season was pretty great.
1st Place - Season 6
This A-Troupe was just amazing and they were all connected. All the dancers cared about each other, no one was left out and you could see this on stage during their dances. Just like some of the other seasons, you could see people doing styles they normally wouldn't do. The dancing was amazing this season and everyone improved their versatility. Richelle and Noah did a ballet dance, Richelle learned to use her emotion, the girls did a hip hop dance, Ozzy improved his dancing . . . The list goes on and on.
That's my ranking of the A-Troupes. Remember that it's just my opinion and if you disagree, that's fine but please don't hate on me. Btw Alishea, I'm so excited to see your blue hair in hopefully your next video! See you on Wednesday 💖💖

One of the problems that season 3 had with chemistry was that most of the team neglected Noah. I felt like Cierra and James were the only ones that paid attention to him.

The only thing I would change is I'd put an extra mark on season 3's chemistry for Noah. He got moved up from J-troupe to A-troupe and although overseen at first, the scenes with Noah and Eldon's duet/battle, the blindfolded dance at Internationals and his duet with Cierra progressed his chemistry with A-troupe and fitting in. I especially thought the Noah and Eldon scenes were amazing as that's the start if the best dancer on A-troupe passing down his legacy to someone on basically the same level as him which progressed the story in later seasons such as Noah getting dance captain in season 5, him getting picked for qualifiers in season 4, him literally being a part of every dance at regionals in season 6 etc and it gave him a storyline til the very end when they've shown that he's outgrown TNS. But that's just my personal opinion.
Video Suggestion: Can you do ranking tns hairstyles like for characters on multiple seasons ranking their hairstyles in talking heads like Riley’s bob compared to long hair and Piper’s straight hair etc.

Yes totally agree with all your rankings especially Season 6! I honestly have the exact same feeling when it comes to Season 7 because it just feels very different to past Seasons and I can see that the writers are starting to lose ideas and Honestly I hate to say this but I can see The Next Step coming to an end after Season 7 or Maybe Season 8.

Great Vid ! Omg When The Laughing Came On My Sound Was On The Highest Volume And My Sister Actually Started Laughing And She Doesn't Even Watch The Next Step . Omg That Was So Funny !
For me this was a really great commentary and seems to tell the the story of TNS on two eras; First off, if you look at seasons 1-3 you see a close knit community group faced with an outsider (Michelle obvs!) who becomes slowly one of them, that leads to more and more joining was once watertight. As a consequence, the family aspect gets jettisoned, dramas increase and because, not in spite of, the shared difficulties there is then a massive increase in talent. Secondly, in my opinion after season 3 the production team lost steam and faith in their show and characters - this led to fallings out and cheatings that weren't plausible (Jiley for example) or even necessary to ramp up insider tensions as this lot had already acheived all they could and it's only by Season 6 that the return of we're all in this togetherness returns with the apex of the Emily-Michelle friendship which is truly the glue that held these guys together so again their talent and interactions feel the norm and not to suit the plot of the week. In season 7 its back to dramas again as the focus for the show is beginning to wane again and I hope can be won back in 7B.

one of my favourite characters were max as even though i think he was very underrated and didn’t get nearly enough screen time for what was meant to be a “main” character when he did have his talking heads segment they were so funny! “i like milk”, “i like square dancing”, “i’m a sucker for love” but always in such a serious tone

Can we just discuss how Jake should have gotten into A-Troupe already from season one. And that he kept auditioning until season four (I think) , and still didn't get in even though he was better than a lot of the dancers that got in to A-Troupe.

Completely agree that season 6 is the best a troupe! I felt like everyone genuinely liked each other: richelle was friends with Noah, who was friends with summer, who was friends with piper, who was friends with Finn, who was friends with jacquie, who was friends with kenzie, who was friends with kingston, who was friends with ozzy, who was friends with Henry. I feel like the behind the scenes also helped with this, because we knew that the cast loved being with each other. Overall, best season in my opinion! 🤗
I would rank Season 5 lower because there were 2 Next steps, and they were rivals. They had a dance battle and Tns East won. After, Kingston and Ozzy discovered that Elliot was a professional dancer and that he shouldn't be joining a dance troupe. Then, Tns West believed that they won because Elliot got kicked out the studio and that since he was on the dance their win didn't count. After them fighting about which team should go to Reigonals, Miss Kate said that no team will be going to Reigonals. Then, Amy and Piper decided to merge Tns West and East. They created a dance to show that they can actual work together. Which is really pointless because they didn't go to Reigonals that season, so all the work they've done just went in the drain. Season 5 was pointless to me overall..

By the way I know it's hard to believe, but there's a saved Season 7QandA story on The Next Step's Instagram, and they said they think they hit the same number of dances as Season 6. Like you said, there hasn't been many dances so I'm thinking that we're going to get more in Season 7B because otherwise I'm just confused lol.
