@@supergiggles3623I think it's better to shut the lid. It won't promote the growth of mosquitoes and dangerous insects. Plus the coconut peels probably need heat so keep the lid on.

Why do we need to decompose the coconut shell, in my opinion which I have always done is to shred the coconut peel finely then mix it with dried cow dung and soil and directly dump in into my garden, that way the coconut shell gets decomposed and there is no hassle on my side, would love to know your opinion in it. As it is, coconut shell is best used as a water retainer and less as fertiliser, I would nrequest you to try my method and give me a feedback, Thanks
