      And yes, my initial thought was that they are a tiny bit too big/tall, the drivers. I remember seeing the sawback elsewhere with similar sized drivers, and thinking the same. But I still think it’s so little that it’s still fine. But if it is an easy job to modify them it might be worthwhile

      Hi Mikael. Thank you very much. It's a very scale looking RC. I really like the leaf suspension on this one.

      @hollyhillrc  4 роки тому

      Yes I think they need adjusting. I have seen people use 12" Action Men in these and they look much too big for it. These figures are 10" so not as tall, but after watching real Willys Jeeps on UA-cam I think my figures are a little too tall. Thank you for your opinion my friend. I appreciate it.

      Thank you very much Sean. I've always wanted a Gmade. I got this from someone who bought it new and never did anything with it for couple years. Then they decided to sell it. I got it for half the price of a new one ! I got the Swaback because of the leaf spring suspension, (the same reason I like my Tamiya Hi Lift). They screams scale lol. It runs really nice, and the suspension isn't as stiff as I thought it was going to be. I wasn't sure about the height of the figures at first but I did some surgery on them today and removed 10mm. I think they look better and I am happy with them now. Thanks for watching mate.

    That is a beautiful Sawback Derek. You certainly have an eye for making the crawlers look very scale and realistic. And those two driver figures just hit the spot just right. Welld one and big thumbs up!

    Looks brilliant Derek. It's great that you can get a whole driver and passenger in. In answer to your question you could possibly cut them down a little so that they are looking through the windscreen. On the other hand they could just be very tall men 😁

      Hello mate. Thank you very much. I've always fancied a Sawback so when this ARTR Gmade appeared on my radar I didn't hang around and bought it straight away. Someone got it new a few years ago and never did anything with it. Then they decided to sell it and I bought it for half the price they paid ! I love the leaf spring suspension and the scale look of it. This was it's first and only run so far, and a very basic one too. But I'm very happy with how the suspension feels and performed. It wasn't as stiff as I thought it was going to be. Even if it's only challenge was over some tree roots lol. I'm thinking I may make some civvy clothes for the figures as this isn't a military themed Jeep.

    Now that, my friend is a sweet looking bit of kit! The chassis looks amazing. On the run, the thing looks so capable, the quality shines through. I read from the other comments that you reduced the figures by 10mm - seems that would be perfect! Great job, all the very best, Derek! :))

    • @hollyhillrc
      @hollyhillrc  4 роки тому +1

      Thank you very much Mark. Sorry for the late reply my friend. This Gmade is very nice indeed. Because it has the leaf spring suspension it's not as capable as the four link version with the coil over shocks. But that scale factor is what I like about it, and why I wanted it. It's a pleasant change and I enjoyed this maiden run very much. Yes, I decided to trim the figures and I'm much happier with how they look now.

    Awesome Derek I have always like the Gmade line up and the Sawback is certainly well tested and the changes you have made has improved the look brother. I really like the Beadlocks you added they look great. I wondered about that front bumper. But that looks great too.. Thanks for sharing brother. Now are the figures too tall. Well they seem a little tall. But I think you will have no problem getting away with it in this style jeep. They were pretty small even at 1:1.. Thumbs up brother. Looked good on the run as well my friend

    I've always liked the Sawback! Good job Derek!!
    The Driver's are a bit tall....
    It seems the standard 12" GI Joe type Figure is just too big. I believe that a 9-10" figure would be perfect...
    But finding them would be a huge challenge!! I'm sure you'll get that sorted. 😉

    • @hollyhillrc
      @hollyhillrc  4 роки тому +1

      Hello Carmine. These are actually 10" HM Forces Action Figures. The problem is the Sawback being such an odd Scale. I agree that 12" Action Men and GI Joes look way too big, and also the 7" action figures I use in my 1/10 RC's look way too small. But I did a bit of surgery to my boys today and managed to lose 10mm of height. While not looking perfect I think they are better now and I am much happier with them. 🙂👍👍

      Hello mate. Yes the Gmade Sawback 4LS has the 4 link suspension and coil over shocks www.modelsport.co.uk/gmade-sawback-4ls-crawler-kit/rc-car-products/397380 There's also a 4 link conversion kit for my version. But I wanted the original leaf spring version because I love the scale look of it. I'm very happy how it performs too. There's a little bit of torque twist but I can live with that. It's nice to run something a little different from the rest of my crawlers. The only other leaf spring RC I have is my Tamiya Ford F350 Hi Lift. Thanks for watching my friend 🙂👍

As for the figures and all the comments about them, i actually like them the way they are. Hey, Derek! Great video editing, congratulations. You managed to perfectly mix photos, video of the run, and you end by asking the audience, what a talent! You're not going to be able to cut off the legs of your two warriors. . . like you did with Vickie and Cesario. Grating their buttocks or digging the seats seems difficult to me too and it might do some damage. . . in short as you can see I don't know how you're going to shrink your two guys, sorry! I hope you're well and better than you were a while ago. Take care mon ami.

      Hi Adam. They would definitely protect the roll bar with their heads if they rolled over 😄 Thanks for watching 👍

  • @BasBoyRC
    @BasBoyRC 4 роки тому

    Well Del, the figures as the smallest at that scale because the dragon are a lot larger. There is a couple of things to make them sit a little lower, trim a little off there arses and maybe lower the seat a little. Does not help the body is more 1/7th than one 1/6th. But for someone to say something is nit picking.

    • @hollyhillrc
      @hollyhillrc  4 роки тому

      Hi Mal. It just didn't sit right with me that their heads are above the roll bar. I couldn't make up my mind if it looked ok or not. I did leave out the bottom part of the seat at first, but I didn't like the look of that. I think I can get away with trimming 10mm off the bottom of their torso if I can't drop the seat bottoms a bit. I've done that with the Mulder figure in my Proline Bronco SCX10. That worked out ok and doesn't notice at all. I guess it's my OCD kicking in hahaha 😄

    • @BasBoyRC
      @BasBoyRC 4 роки тому

      @@hollyhillrc If you take a little from the seat and the figures bottom then it will need less off the torso. I'm OCD but these are better than most you see with the little people so silly.

      @@BasBoyRC After further inspection of the figures I found that they had a ball section part on their shoulders that their heads sat on so they could swivel. It made their necks look really long so I removed it and lost 10mm off the height. I had to glue their heads back onto their shoulders, so they can't turn now. But I think they look better and I am much happier with them. 🙂👍👍

    Hmm - the figures do look a fraction high mate. But don't look overly out of place. But it's a matter of choice. If you wan't absolute realism you'll have to give them 'The Mulder Surgery.' Ultimately if your happy how they are, leave them. Personally I'd downsize them ever so slightly.

      @@hollyhillrc Great solution, but I'm struggling to comprehend how this model is 1/10th scale. In your repy to Pinkzy you stated that the drivers were 10" action figures. In yours and my Axial Broncos the Mulder figure was about, I think 7" tall and he needed major surgery to fit. I can't imagine a 10" action figure fitting in a Bronco, which is also 1/10 scale. A 1/6th scale model would need a 12" driver, so doing the maths I'm wondering that if this model accommodates 10" figures, is it in reality 1/8th scale, because that would be correct scale-wise.
