m111 does well for me. im not a fan of the dwarf rootstock. i dont know why you have struggled with apples so much. i dont have the same experience. its one of my easiest fruits.

Great video. I'm doing the same thing on my property this year. Getting rid of a lot of stuff that just hasn't done well in my climate and that I found out that I don't particularly care for the taste of. Replacing with things that thrive and require less care

You should look into backyard orchard culture.
Also look up Dave Wilson nursery.
There is information on planting high density fruit trees in these videos.

Wow, alot of decisions. I hear you on removing fruit trees. I had to give away some stuff I grew in pots to make room.

Aronia grows super easy but fresh its bleh but makes great jam. Cornialian cherry is good but grows super slow. In zone 7.

Apparently if you let the aronia hang on the tree for many weeks, the astringency goes away almost completely.

Ross love your videos. Tons of information. I had a small property in Arizona and got into a similar situation I just didn't have the land to do it all. We moved to east Tennessee and now have a ton of land. Are you thinking about getting land? It would be nice not to sacrifice for room.

Haha 😂 you are hilarious. While I totally agree and understand what your doing. It’s funny 10 Persimmon, 6 Jujube, 300 fig tree. OMG I have too many Persimmon and Jujube trees.
I started a fruit forest and planted way to many trees and I’m ready to remove or replace whatever doesn’t work or is too much. Fun stuff.

We all create our monsters, then we have to feed them. I think it happens to most passionate growers.
I’m guilty and it’s been a very hot dry summer. I love his plans for the property.

Poison the big shade trees, I'm poisoning a few when I go back home for Christmas.
There's two in particular right up the back of my yard behind a shed that are basically just a waste of space and sunlight for something else I could be growing there.

  • @itsarni

    • @RossRaddi

They're good when dried. Honey jar and sugarcane are very good fresh, but not as good as a high quality dessert apple. Li makes a great dried jujube, so I've decided to just stick with that one.
