      I’ve only ripened Rossellino from that list and it’s quite good. It ripened in February, here in San Diego, it was a young plant from cutting rooted in 2019, so the potential is there for something really enjoyable. VdB-esque and wants to pack on the fruit.

    Hey Ross, I noticed you NEVER mention Cravens Craving. Why is that. You also don’t have it listed anywhere on your spreadsheets. What’s the deal? Is it worth growing?

    I live in the UK and the temper in my zone can drop to 35 degrees F. I have just started growing figs and so I don’t really no anything. I have one tree in a pot what sort of winter protection should I consider for it

    • @ceili
      @ceili 4 роки тому +1

      It'll be fine. Figs handle UK winters easily without protection

    Most fruit and nut trees will have a good year then it will almost certainly be followed by a light crop which is much larger in size. The get consistant good crops af good fruit it is necessary to thin the fruit in its heavy crop phase.
    Fruit is also plural for many fruit. Fruits is not normally grammatically correct. You really wont tell what fruiting consistancy will be untill planted out and given 5 to 7 years.

      When it comes to seedling genome variability 50% will take after either the pollen parent or the seed parent.
      The other 50% will take after anything in the genomic make so one maybe a male tree thus making a good pollen tree but no good for fruit. Then again you might get a number of different good fruiting trees each with different qualities and some maybe downright terrible. This is how new varieties come about. I believe if the variety hangs downward when ripe it will be less likely to ferment in wet humid weather.

    Is bird poop good luck? If you ask the Russians, where this popular superstition is said to have originated, they will say yes!...Well it happened to me at work, with a gull doing the pooping and I am still waiting for the Lottery money.....Bird nest alert? Years ago I had to wear a hard hat while cutting the grass because of a Mockingbird nest nearby.
