Another great thing to keep in your vehicle as part of your emergency kit is a collapsible shovel. If you ever slide off the road into deep snow and can't get out, you need to dig out the vehicle exhaust, or there's nowhere for the fumes to go but into the cab. That could/would result in carbon monoxide poisoning if enough time passes. It's not something to mess with for sure!
The way I care for leather boots is to clean with saddle soap then polish with a clear polish. Colors always stay true and are protected for the season
Hey Lauren they make leather cleaner and restoration that you can get to use on your leather boots it’s like a salve that you rub on your boots I have some for all my leather boots and it works great!!!! It’s not very expensive either!!!!! I use Dr Martens that I bought on line but Buckle stores normally sells it!!!!!!!!! Buckle is a really high end clothing store and we use it all the time!!!!
Wow, you guys had a two week fall, and then bam it’s winter! Love seeing the snow from a distance it’s beautiful! All the pictures turned out beautiful! Stay warm!
That’s a super mud room and great storage lockers! Your family does the important work of checking items per boys and update sizes. It’s definitely a lot of work. Great job, momma. That tent was awesome!! Prepping, whether it’s food or clothes or car gear, etc…critical tasks. You are providing such important examples. I appreciate how well your family works together. Blessings. Susan
I do the same thing! I have two totes I keep in my Jeep! Summer one with all beach 4x4 gear and a winter one with extra tow gear, shovel, clothes and snacks.
I lived in Alaska as a young child!! I remember the snow and cold so much!! I loved playing in the snow so much!! Living in Alaska, prepared me for living in Nebraska during the winter! (where I live now)
Phew that was a marathon. Gosh my car prep consists of water, sunscreen, hat and tissues. If taking the kids out I pack, hand wipes , food and their bikes if it’s a park trip. What a dIfference.. mark was meant to have boys he revels in all the boy stuff and how lucky are they to learn so much from him. Great family pic they look professional, well done. Make sure you take your vit D, the deficiency , among other things can make you very tired and with how much you need done each day that’s not a good thing. Cuddles to luna❤
Lauren Thanks for Motivating us too. Illinois hit 25 degrees overnight, we have officially had the hard frost and yesterday snow that never amounted to anything. Sun going down early and the Furnace turning on and off. I made my first Big pot of Vegetable Beef Soup, dropped a couple off to all the Friends who thought it sounded good. I am also working on getting heavy coats, hats, gloves ready. The City came and picked up leaves that is always a sign snow is on the way. It is always fun to see the Boys playing in the snow. And I can relate to the peacefulness of the quiet of the cold winter calm. The new hot tent looks great. Hopefully the Alaska Boys get a few vlogs out soon. My favorite scene Today, Weston walking around with the flippers. And then laying with Mom on the ground. Phew, you did it!! HEY WINTER, BRING IT ON, THE HAMM FAMILY IS READY, LET'S HAVE FUN IN THE SNOW.
Nice video! I love the Canadian Winters when I used to live there for >5 years, it was my favourite time of the year! Currently living in Sydney, Australia, it doesn’t snow here & Winter is relatively mild compared to Vancouver. Glad to know you guys are well-prepared for the upcoming Winter season 👍🏼 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thats really a lot of work; preparing for winter!! Thanks for showing it to us, but how magical and wonderful is that white, white world!! I can only dream of it. But watching it is so relaxing!! Thank you and all the best for you and your familiy!
The tent really looked liked it would be helpful especially when it's so cold out. Very educational video, alway good to carry extra blankets, and snacks, ect when you could get stuck in the snow. Loved the family pictures priceless 💕💜❤️. Great team work Hamm family.
What a blessing that your boys truly enjoy the outdoors. It looks like a big job to get everyone ready for the winter weather. It was good to see your car emergency kit. Thanks for sharing.. stay warm.
Goodness I’m freezing just watching this video. I live in Southern California so it might get down to 40° at the cold is here. I could not imagine. Y’all are incredible.
You have such a beautiful family! I just came across your UA-cam channel and really love. I fell asleep watching your videos. Sorry. I love them! What a great family! I'm a 67 year old grandma with 5 grandbabies. They make my life worth living, so joyful!
Loved the phrase “Winter growing pains” Your boys looked like they were have great fun in the Snow. Here in the uk we are having lots of rain and winds. Thank you for a great video. Stay safe😁
What a dream to live in Alaska! It is absolutely stunning! Tiring, most certainly is but nevertheless amazing. I live in southern Europe where the sun shines for over 250 days of the year and we hardly get any snow down here. Thank you for taking us all along your journey and giving us a glimpse of life outside of what some of us are used to. I love your channel and always wait with anticipation for your next video. Sending you all lots of love. 💜💛🧡♥️🤎💙💚
It’s nice that you have all that gear so you guys can stay warm. Love the tent idea. Also I just tried to foil out the Google form it says you are no longer taking the form . ❤. Tell all the boys hi and give everyone a hug including Luna.
Lauren I’m fascinated with your lifestyle in Alaska. It certainly is a lot of work! I’m in Australia and it doesn’t snow where we are although we have a wood burner as the temperatures get down to -6 or so Celsius which to you would be quite comfortable I’m guessing. I’m learning so much and did not know anything about hunting! Thank you.
Every June I go through my hurricane kit and make sure I'm set. Recharge batteries, restock water and so on. Although this year we recently had a late in the season tropical storm. I had already donated my pantry stock to the local food pantry. BTW I can really see the difference in your weight loss journey. Keep up the good work 👏
great vid Lauren.......& Luna at the end doing the high 5....soooo precious .......while you guys gettn organised for winter we are preparing for the Summer heat..
Hi Lauren, wow u really are kept busy, you looked Absolutely Shattered going through all of the Winter Gear, The Tent Mark showed was Awesome, Mark and the boys are very Lucky to have you ❤️
Pictures are great of the boys and the family !! The snow was pretty ! We just got it on the mountains in Tennessee.. and they are beautiful !! Blessings to you all !!
My daughter lives in Anchorage, we are from South Florida so to see all the prep y'all have to go thru is mind boggling. The snow is beautiful to look at but I don't want to live in it, I get cold when it goes below 70.
Thanks for this! We had a little mini blizzard the other night and it's staying on the ground here in Winnipeg. You inspired me to organize all of our winter stuff this morning. All ready!
Those lockers are amazing! I wish I'd had something like that raising my 8 kids.Totes in the attic were our storage go to.Your videos are always so upbeat and fun! Hugs from Missouri 🤗 ❤️.
I have taked 2 blankets n used my food saver n vac sealed them n store in my under back seat tote in my truck so if traveling were good , our eldest daughter n family live in nor Utah soooo
Seeing the boys sledding down that hill brought back memories! I grew up just outside Seattle and our house had a "steep" driveway. All the neighborhood kids would slide down it into the front yard across the street. I live in Texas now (your Texas superintendent closing schools for 4 inches of snow literally made me laugh out loud!!) and Mom and I visited our old neighborhood a few years ago -- that driveway was NOT as steep as it was when I was growing up! 🙂
Any time I have conditioned leather boots they always change to a darker color. But mine always look better after all conditioned versus them all dry looking:)
Looks like a delightful (& exhausting) start to winter for you & your family. I think I'll just enjoy watching your videos rather than planning any trips to Alaska anytime soon 😂.
My part of canada is already into winter too. It dictate what we do as well but growing up. Snow always came the second week of september without fail. Its gradually coming later as I've gotten older. I did get to enjoy a mild winter for 5 years in another part of canada and i miss it so much. My everything was winter prepped in october. I have all weather tires but after driving through snoqualmie pass with them in the snow, i bought proper winter tires. They aren't good for ice, as there is a compromise. So I got proper winter tires.
I am from Northern Maine and we got our first snow fall of 4 inches the way you prepare for winter is very similar to how we do. It's funny to hear your new superintendent cancelled school. We also need to get a lot more snow then that.
Your family is wonderful! It's so great to see the boys learning responsibility and independence and that they help each other. Being from Texas, I had to giggle a bit when you mentioned that your new school superintendent, also from Texas, closed the schools because there were 4 inches of snow. We live just north of Houston, and rarely get snow... 4 inches would cause the schools to be closed here too!
It’s fun watching the kids grow season to season. I remember watching you go through the mud room last year. You had to buy new coats for the older boys and you had to do some searching!! You finally found some at a local store and boy were they expensive!! Glad to see they still fit!! We’re in down in Washington and have gotten some of your cold storm but fortunately not as cold as you!! Looking forward to watching your winter fun!!
Good Morning Hamm Family ❤️ I'm so jealous. I absolutely love the snow. Yea, it can be difficult and annoying at times, but the beauty of it makes it all worth it. Mark even paused to take a look. Lauren you looked amazing in your photo’s the boys looked so happy too! My husband is also called Mark 😄 and a great dad with our kids we are farmers in England so get to enjoy our wonderful countryside ( on a much smaller scale though 😂) much love to your family ❤

I love seeing Mark hang out with the boys! You are truly blessed to have a beautiful family!!
You are so kind! I love seeing Mark with the boys too, he is such a good Dad. Hope you have a wonderful day.
Love the lockers for each person - great idea for organization & storage.
The good thing about snow is the bridge light it’s giving when daylight hits the snow 😍
The night always becomes so much lighter once it snows. The fall before the snow ❄️ is the darkest time of year it seems.
Those photos looked fabulous x can't believe all the planning that you do for a change in season x
You are so fortunate to have such a good husband that loves you and the kiddos! He's so helpful to you as well.
Seeing that there's a new video always cheers me up! Greetings from Germany 😊
The way I care for leather boots is to clean with saddle soap then polish with a clear polish. Colors always stay true and are protected for the season
Thank you so much for the tip!!
It's great how you all work together as a family team to prepare. Keep them coming, please.
Thank you! Will do! Hope you have a wonderful day!

@@ThisAlaskaLife returning to Alaska is on my bucket list of things to do. I loved living in Anchorage a lot! (dad was military)
I’m glad the tent worked. The locker were great. Have a good day.
Awww!! Miss Luna is so precious ❤️ so glad to see the boys having fun and also learning responsibility ❤️😀

My husband uses BIC 4 leather conditioner for all of our leather things. Bickmore is the official name we've used it for years.
Thank you so much! I will try that next time.
What a blessing that your boys truly enjoy the outdoors. It looks like a big job to get everyone ready for the winter weather. It was good to see your car emergency kit. Thanks for sharing.. stay warm.

Nic wax it’s clear, solid in a tin, clear and waterproofs your leather boots 😊

Oh. Yes…your family pictures = fantastic! Lauren, you took wonderful pictures of the boys.
Great preparations for winter!!! ⛄️
and fresh snacks lol
Your pictures you took on your phone are amazing
I love the sound of freshly-fallen snow crunching underfoot 😀
Omg I am so jealous of that snow. We don’t see much snow here. It’s nice to be prepared for every eventuality. X
Watched you go through this process last year! Makes me grateful I live in Texas 😋
I am from Northern Maine and we got our first snow fall of 4 inches the way you prepare for winter is very similar to how we do. It's funny to hear your new superintendent cancelled school. We also need to get a lot more snow then that.

That's really nice your all "6" of you are organized for Winter. I'm only "1" & am not ready yet.
On simple living Alaska just did a hunting trip and had a hot tent. It was neat. Stay warm
I do vit d as well n magnesium n an immunity one as well
Nice to see you get all that work done in time to be able to enjoy the snow with your boys!!! You're such a good Mama!!!
❄️💙❄️💙❄️
Pictures turned out fantabulous!
Thank you so much ❤
It’s fun watching the kids grow season to season.
I had to pull my scraper out of my trunk for the first time this morning. Quickly got it done.
We had a good snow fall about 16" in some places going to get more snow ❄️
Wow, that is a good dump of snow. Stay safe!
Cool tent
Thank you Jan! We are going to have a great time with it!
Hi, the family photos are beautiful ❤
Good Morning Hamm Family ❤️
I'm so jealous. I absolutely love the snow. Yea, it can be difficult and annoying at times, but the beauty of it makes it all worth it. Mark even paused to take a look. Please put some in a box and mail it to me 😊
I can only pray that we are blessed with snow this winter, but for now, we still have the house opened up, Autumn breezes, last of the leaves still clinging on to their branches, others flitting about and blanketing the ground 🍂
Those pix looked beautiful, so stunning. The boys look so happy, and that one of you kissing Everett is so sweet. Weston curling up on the floor with was so endearing. So nice to see Hunter and Bennett helping Mark with the tent ❤️
Our preps for winter are less hectic here in our part of Virginia, but still necessary. Mark is going through the house, pulling A/C units and putting up weather guards to keep the warmth in. Firing up and testing the heater, making sure the propane is topped off. Making sure there is wood and kindling, and that the cast iron stove and generator are ready in case of a power outage. I'm trading out our warmer weather clothes for colder weather clothes... just not as indepth as your prep. Winter is coming ❄️
Back to the heated tent: it is awesome. So glad you, your Mark and the boys enjoyed it. I predict fun, warm campouts in your future 🔥
Well, tea time is over. Time to get to work. Enjoy your day and week ahead. Hugs to Luna and the boys. Yah's Blessings to you all ❤️
Oh my goodness!! This California girl is freezing watching this video 😂 Hey Lauren, have a great Sunday 💜
Beautiful children Beautiful family
Looks great guys 😘👍🏻💕loved the video 😘👍🏻💕
I store a bag of clay litter and two small bags of ice melt. It works in 20 minutes or faster.
Your winter emergency kit has improved.
We have snow and my original appointment for tire switch got bumped. Thinking time to buy good year all season with ice ratings. The weight in back actually helps but seems to burn fuel when the roads aren't cleared.
Stay warm and enjoy before the big chill hits.
Thanks for sharing
Good evening! Wow, that's a lot to do for winter. I'm glad it doesn't snow on the island. Summer all year round. Thanks for sharing your journey with us. Hafa adai and love from the island of Guam 🌴💕🌴
Omg I loved this vlog , more like this please
Lauren you looked amazing in your photo’s the boys looked so happy too! My husband is also called Mark 😄 and a great dad with our kids we are farmers in England so get to enjoy our wonderful countryside ( on a much smaller scale though 😂) much love to your family ❤
🤣Awesome Family, Awesome UA-cam Channel, Awesome Time Lapsing Awesome Video!!!!😁😍
It’s really strange here in the uk. Where I am it’s about 15-17 C. Which is very strange x
Thank you so much for watching, have a wonderful day!
Great video Lauren. Wish it would snow here, but it’s just cold for now. Your so organized and a great mom to those boys. Have a good week.😊
I live up in North Pole and we keep candles and a matches in our cold weather bag. It will heat up the vehicle enough to keep the chill off of you.
Great idea! Thank you!
Beautiful family pictures. I also include a bag of salt and a bag of sand in my truck for the winter!
Great video love the way you work together to make things good for winter x Thankyou 🙏
I sure enjoy seeing and hearing you and your family
