    Years ago I was introduced to FP and used it religiously. (That's a good thing - I was a pastor! LOL) I also brought in Joe Smith, Hyrum Smith's brother, to train my whole staff, and bought FPs for every staff person and spouse. They were terrific! Then came Palm Pilots, etc., and slowly but surely people started migrating to digital formats. Nobody kept notes as carefully as when they had a Franklin! After I retired, I tried a few other planners, but came back to Franklin. Not only is it "old shoe comfortable," but your fabulous video came me some great ideas on setting it up afresh. Love your presentations!

    WOW! This video was exceptional and extremely thorough. Back story: I’ve used a FP for years at work - then got caught up in the contemporary planners available. Probably haven’t used a FP for 20 years. I never used it the way you have described. I just learned SO MUCH from this video. You explained EVERYTHING about this system and why you plan the way that you do. THANK YOU TONYA - so glad I found you. I’m thinking of going back to FP - you really opened my eyes on how I could use this in my personal life as a fantastic resource to keep everything together. My take away and what I remembered is that you can roll over a lot of those sections from year to year. What a professional production you’ve produced here 💕💕💕

      Thank you! Her videos are fantastic. My generation is into storing things on our devices and our computers, but when they’re not charged or become damaged, we’re lost. Her videos have given me the instruction and clarity I needed. Most of the vids on here fall flat, but this channel helps take professionalism to the next level. I’m so happy I found it.

      I haven't used FP since the 80's. It was required by my employer and they paid for it each year. I too was distracted by all the other options. I've just discovered this video in 2022, but I'm going to check out FP again for 2023 supplies.

    I love watching your videos and how thorough they are. I attended Franklin Quest time management training seminar in the early 90s and absolutely loved it. With the latest planning community that’s popped up over recent years, I started bouncing around to all these new trends, but I always find myself coming back to Franklin Covey. Thank you for also being an advocate and being so instrumental in training people how to properly use the Franklin system. Keep it up, love the videos! ❤️

    I just got my new planner after not using one for 15 years. My biggest problem with planners in general are consistently using them.Ive started getting into the habit of every night bringing my planner into my bed with my pens and markers and working on it before bed which lessens my anxiety as everything is there and planned out for the next day.

    • @TonyaPlans
      @TonyaPlans  4 роки тому +1

      Hey. You are doing the right thing by trying to open your planner daily. That solves half the battle of being consistent with your planner. I actually try to open my planner in the morning while I'm getting dressed and at night. Thanks for watching. 🌻

    I am so glad to find another Franklin Covey planner person!!! I thought I was the only one in a sea of Hobonichi users!!! Loved your video so I am going to do some binge watching this weekend, I can tell. I am preparing to order for 2021 and already from this video I saw some forms that i was not aware of or had forgotten about. Gosh, I must have gotten my first Franklin planner back in the mid 1970s. But it wasn’t Franklin planner then. Don’t remember but it has been a long time. I am now retired for nearly 3 years and I still love using my planner but would like to feel more purpose in my retired life.

    Wow, what a great setup video! I have been retired since 2013, but I used an FP for many years and through a number of job changes. This has made me so nostalgic for the sheer functionality of these planners. It looks like they have added a ton of new forms since I retired and I kept seeing ways I could adapt it to my (very simple!) Bullet Journal setup. The only thing I disliked about the planner was that I needed to take sheets out of the binder to write on them. I'm left-handed and the rings were just too big. I'm going to go over to the website and see what else Franklin Covey has been up to in the last few years!

    • @TonyaPlans
      @TonyaPlans  4 роки тому

    You may have already covered this elsewhere, but can you talk about why you use 2 pages per day as opposed to 1 page per day? I’m trying to decide if I should make the switch from 1 page per day to 2 pages per day.

      Hey Alex hi! Sorry for the delayed response. I just saw this message. I choose the 2 pages per day because I thought I would have work notes, journaling or other notes to write each day. The reality is somedays I don't have time to write on the notes pages but I do try to at least write a couple of sentences about what happened that day. I'm into genealogy research and believe in the value of a person documenting their life. 🙂 Anyway, if you don't feel you will use the notes pages on the 2 pages were day, you can always stick with the 1 page per day and use the cut-away notes pages to insert notes as needed...I actually may try that in the future. Take care.

      Hey Happy. Absoluety, there are planner inserts with the same format but in different themes and colors. 🌼

    What sections do you archive?

    • @TonyaPlans
      @TonyaPlans  4 роки тому +1

      Amy Caasi 🤎Hmm. When you say archive, are you referring to keeping old planner pages in the storage case and sleeves? If yes, then my answer is that I archive everything especially since I journal on the daily notes pages. I want to be able to go back and look at what I wrote. Plus, I do genealogy research and understand the value of keeping records of life events incase someone wants to research me years from now. Thanks for watching, Amy!

    Does your hand hit the rings when you write in your planner? It;s the one thing that concerns me into getting one with rings

    • @TonyaPlans
      @TonyaPlans  4 роки тому

      chronicfish 🏆🥉Hey there. Thank you for the question. Sometimes when I write in the appointment schedule section, my hand hits against the rings but it’s not a problem for me unless I’m trying to write neatly. If I want to write neatly, I simply remove the page from the planner, write on it and then put it back. Sometimes I try to write neatly if I know I will be taking a picture of the page for Instagram. But MOST of the time, I lift my hand up to avoid hitting the rings while writing, if that makes sense. My handwriting doesn’t look as neat when I do this but i don’t mind because my planner is for me and not other people. I have been asked this question before so I might do a video on it to demonstrate. Sometimes your concern deters people from wanting to get ring bound planners but personally, I don’t think that is a good enough reason to avoid ring bound planners. There are too many other advantages to having a ring bound planner like the ability to change inserts whenever you want. What type of planner do you have? I hope you have a great day. 🔆

      Concerning bumping into rings when writing, a frequent problem for me. I am left-handed but my solution might work in reverse for right-handers? (I do not write with a hook.) On the left page I write normally, with a forward slant. On the right page, I angle the binder/book a bit and write with a backward slant, and then I do not bump into rings. I do this in bound journals and even Spiral notebooks as well.

    Serious question, why do you constantly rub the binders over and over at the beginning of your videos when talking?! It’s kinda odd and cringey. When speaking, we can still understand that you’re about to explain info on the binders/planners without rubbing up on the binders.

      Hi Maria! I like the way the binders feel. Some are soft and some have texture. Have a great day!
